Boy were we disappointed when I finally opened it and they weren't even the slightest warm. The drive to my next stop was only 7-8 minutes. I should have gone back, but didn't have time. Just disappointed that they were cold that early in the day. Lesson learned to check and speak up right away.

By comparison, Dirk and I looked like roadies in some Viking Metal band sittingf in a corner with gyo and beef juice in our beards, but we enjoyed the experience AND the food. If you want the market, you can find curious culinary options from Nordic hot sauces [Pikku Piru] to gourmet mushrooms [Bennett Run]. Dirk chose a falafel from Grill & Gyro which was fat and delicious coming with fresh cut fries in a quantity too big to finish. I enjoyed a "Surrender the Fresh Dip" which was pricey but worth every penny for the tender, seasoned beef on a toasted roll with superb au jus. While I am used to buying my farmer's market pretzels from the Amish, I enjoyed a Foltz original pretzel, though I never understood the pairing of pretzels and lemonade so I declined that suggestion by the nice lady behind the counter. Regardless of what you crave, everyone is personable and passionate about their signature foods. They know it is a competitive market with so much to choose from, but I was happy to see so many people at various spots conducting themselves like regulars, just as happy to chat as have lunch with their favorite vendors. Parking is plentiful and the location is easily accessible just off of Chocolate Avenue It is clean and bright, inviting even in the tightly-packed center corridors that hide some of the more interesting kiosks and treats. My only complaint is the lack of seating. There's so much to choose from but not a lot of space to enjoy it. Dirk and I had to sit at a 4-seater and share with a family of 8 who packed themselves into a corner. Given that the market is only open Thursday to Saturday, plan for patience or go early for breakfast. I was able to sample some wares that were going off sale and they were delicious. I'll definitely be back.

While my family settled for sushi, Korean fried chicken wings, and bento boxes, I couldn't pass up Carmela's for a cheese steak with sharp provolone cheese and crab fries. We all shared anyway. We were so hungry I forgot to take pictures of all the other food. It was glorious. Other than the wings, all the vendors were very quick to get the orders out. There were several eating areas which was helpful because I think we got there 30 mins before the dinner rush was coming in. The vibe is very nice. I grew up going to reading terminal market in Philly so having little markets like this around is always a delight. I hope the vendors do well because there's so many other vendors I'd like to try.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a nice place to relax. The service was very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. All of the treats looked delicious and there were plenty of tempting options. I also loved that they sell local flowers and other local goods, which adds a unique touch. One thing I wished for was drink prices listed on the menu. It would have been helpful to know the prices when deciding what to order. Overall, a really enjoyable visit. When I saw PA Bakery advertising mini King Cakes for Mardi Gras, I was genuinely thrilled. A…read morereasonably sized King Cake felt like a dream come true -- all the fun of the tradition without committing to feeding an entire village. I immediately pre-ordered two mini King Cakes at $5.50 each (total $11), already imagining the moment I'd get to gloat when I found the hidden baby! The mini King Cakes were actually quite generous in size. Easily enough for 3-4 people...although I personally demolished mine in one sitting and have zero regrets. Now for the part that caught me off guard. The plastic baby -- arguably the entire point of a traditional King Cake -- was perched on top instead of hidden inside. I was fully anticipating that moment of excitement that comes from discovering the baby mid-bite, because that's kind of the magic of a King Cake tradition. Without that element, what I ended up with felt more like a very festive brioche-style cinnamon roll wearing Mardi Gras colors than a King Cake. To be clear, it tasted good. The cake itself was soft without being dry, had plenty of cinnamon-esque filling without tipping into overly gooey territory, and was generously finished with frosting and sugary crystals. Flavor-wise, no complaints. But if you're marketing something specifically as a King Cake, the expectation is that the baby is hidden within. Otherwise, it changes the experience entirely. For food safety purposes, there are plenty of creative alternatives -- an edible marzipan baby, a clearly oversized non-choking-hazard version, sticker on the box, etc. -- but the surprise element is part of what makes a King Cake a King Cake. Overall, not a bad experience -- just not quite the Mardi Gras moment I was hoping for. Next year, I'll probably seek out a bakery that leans into the full King Cake tradition...because if I'm chasing the thrill of finding a tiny plastic baby in my dessert, I want to earn that victory properly. If the baby isn't going in the cake, just let me know up front so I can manage my expectations (and my Mardi Gras excitement) accordingly.

Thanks to a recent Central PA snowstorm, street parking was...adventurous. After one strategic lap around the block, I found a spot just a few spaces from the front door and felt like I had won the lottery. I carefully perched my car atop a snowplow-created mountain and hustled inside in search of warmth...and ice cream. Inside, there was only one other group of customers, which made perfect sense given it was late January, about 15 degrees outside, and there were still inches of snow piled everywhere. The shop itself is bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Very cute pastel colors all around. Was impressed with the variety of flavors and how everything is house made. Some of their proceeds also goes to cat rescue and thought that was very sweet too. The staff kindly let me try a few flavors. Was still indecisive and ended up mixing 3 flavors in my one scoop: -pirates treasure: per their recommendation -lavender elderberry: great for those who like fragrant floral flavors -key lime pie: more on the tart than sweet side, especially liked the bits of crust layered in Looking forward to coming back to try their other flavors!
