This is one of the only places in Houston, that I know of, that sells Rum Caneles! Rum caneles are a rare commodity nowadays. Caneles are a traditional French pastry. This shop also offers so much more from macarons, cupcakes, fruit tarts, coffee and matcha! Such a pretty pink floral decor inside, clean, and very pretty. Great service and great sweets, love this place.
Several of the larger chains are very good, but I think it is most important to support local small independent bakeries. The desserts here are as good as a gets and if you don't believe me, just try their strawberry tiramisu sometime. Highly highly recommend recommended.
I discovered this spot on TikTok! I wanted to try the matcha tiramisu, but they sold out by the time I got there. Instead, I tried the ube tiramisu, which was light and airy and not too sweet. It was very enjoyable! The matcha choux was my favorite. The oolong tea tasted like a typical milk tea. My friend's fruit tea was very refreshing. The inside is a bit small with a few seating options. The workers were friendly.
Desseire French Bakery has been on my bookmarks since Cov!d. Every time I wanted to stop by, there was always something going on. Like it was closed, it used to have a very odd operating hour. I think it was partially due to the pandemic. I was glad that Linda's Tropical Fruits took over the ownership of this restaurant recently. I am so happy that it operates with a normal schedule. I came here a few times to check out what pastry I could buy to surprise my friends during the holidays. I think I am hooked on the Choux, a cream filled puff pastry. They come in variety of flavors. I don't have a favorite one yet. I am still trying them all. Cupcakes were cute and I can place a greeting on the icing. Very cute. I think it's better than the Nothing Bundt Cakes bakeries. Because the cakes were lighter and cream was smoother. There are plenty of parking at this strip mall. But very limited seats inside. It's more like a takeout restaurant.
the matcha was insanely sweet. when i sipped some off the top, it actually had a great earthiness, but the strawberry syrup dominated everything in this drink. the banh choux was SO GOOD. it was crispy, light and the filling wasn't too sweet. it was definitely rich and creamy but great ube flavor. mango tiramisu was also delicious, creamy yet bright
Beautiful yummy desserts! We came in for the cream puffs! Service with a smile as usual. Has tables to enjoy the desserts as well.
Nut allergy warning: Although several Croux and cupcakes have pistachios, I was fine ordering some pastries that were at least not next to those. For severe allergies I'd order ahead or stay far away from those. We stopped by in the afternoon after lunch with five people. There are a few small tables to sit and enjoy your pastries, but many more people took them to go. We had the Ube Cupcake (5/5), the Durian Croux (4.5/5), and the Matcha Croux (4/5) and each had 1-2 bites for five people. The Ube Cupcake was the star here, but everything was delicious and not too sweet. I prefer a stronger matcha flavor, but it still came through there. They have some delicious looking cakes and other offerings, as well as coffee. I'll definitely be back!
Last time I checked, French bakeries / dessert shops weren't in abundance in Chinatown, which puts Desseire in a very unique position. They describe themselves as a "French bakery with an Asian touch" which has only made me curious about all the things they offer. Spoiler alert: it's all awesome. Their shop is somewhat hidden in the corner of a strip mall, but it's clean and fairly modern despite being small with limited seating. I'm not sure if they bake their pastries on site, but it smells really nice in here. It feels more like a dessert shop than a bakery, as they always have a number of pretty pastries on display. They have a whole assortment of cakes but the ones I'm impressed with are the custom designs they have for people. The cakes don't look particularly large, but it's clear they were carefully handcrafted and look photo ready. I have seen some of their macarons, cupcakes, and chouxs, the latter of which has a killer pandan cream filling and their black sesame flavor gets a big thumbs up. Also bonus points for having ube, durian, and pink guava as flavor options. Another thing they're good at is creating display tables for events. I've come across some of their work in the past with a table full of cheeses, fruits, and assorted pastries. It's the perfect party addition and the overall setup is very impressive. Lastly, they people who run the shop are are lovely. Their passion for their pastries is evident and their following is only growing by the day. The endless variety of indulgences are always a reason to keep coming back for more.
This bakery is such a gem in Houston. If it weren't for my friend who recommended this place I wouldn't have known about it. The amount of times I come to this plaza to get sugar cane juice is too many to count but I have never noticed the bakery until my friend brought me here. The outside is very ordinary, but the inside is filled with beautiful pastries and alluring aromas. They have an assortment of desserts including choux, macarons, panna cotta, tiramisu, and cupcakes. I'm very impressed with the asian flavors such as ube, pandan, durian, and lychee. The choux and panna cottas are my favorite. The flavors are subtle and not too sweet yet uniquely pleasant and delicious. They even have the cutest teddy bear choux. Even the pricing for the cakes are very reasonable. The cakes are custom made and although not that big, pack a bunch of flavor and are beautifully crafted. I ordered a birthday cake from here once and the ordering process and communication was smooth. The bakery was accommodating and was able to create a design that resembled the one I wanted. The cake was a hit at the party and everyone loved the design. The flavors (strawberry cake with lychee frosting) were on point, but the only issue was that the frosting was overly sweet. This was definitely surprising because their pastries aren't super sweet so maybe it was just the batch of frosting. Overall, I love coming back to try more desserts and flavors. However, I would ask for a lighter frosting if I ordered a cake again.

Some of the flavors such as soursop were completely unknown to me, so I asked the employee and she told me she had no idea but it was popular. This was the same response I got when I asked her preference between two other flavors. I also asked her if the flavors were constant or rotating, and she said they should be posted on the Instagram weekly - this is untrue. I think the employee(s) or at least this one in particular is doing Desseire a huge disservice especially since many of the flavors are uncommon and most customers would appreciate some background or even simple guidance to rounding out their dessert selections.
I had the pleasure of trying their desserts as my friend brought them to our Thanksgiving celebration. Not only are they visually appealing, but they taste delicious as well. My favorite was the matcha cake in the shape of a roll. It had a strong matcha flavor which I am picky about and it wasn't too sweet either which I appreciate. The matcha jelly filling it had in the middle was the best. The pandan coconut cake was light, fluffy, and didn't taste artificial at all. Cupcakes were great as well; they had some fun flavors such as durian and ube, which also tasted very realistic! I need to visit them myself to try their other desserts!

I saw the different tiramisus on IG and really wanted to try them since they looked so pretty and unique. The original and matcha tiramisus looked really good, but I chose the matcha because I've been craving matcha more than usual. The ladyfingers had softened yet weren't soaked. The cream was light and airy. The matcha powder didn't taste bitter and was a pretty green. Since it was decorated for Easter, there was a cute chocolate nest full of Cadbury eggs and a Meji chocolate mushroom on the slice. Even hungry, the slice is almost too much for one person to consume in a sitting. The salted egg sponge cake looked pretty and interesting. I've seen it mentioned before but have never tried it. The sponge cake below was perfect. It was soft, fluffy and slightly sweet. There appears to be a thin cream cheese icing under the pork floss, salted egg yolk, and drizzle of condensed milk or icing. The savory and slightly sweet flavors work really well together.

This place is usually so good but my most recent trip was a miss. The pandan mousse tasted like it had been sitting in the refrigerator for a while and didn't taste like much, if anything at all. We also ordered a ube choux and two macarons (vanilla and pistachio). The ube choux was much better, the ube filling actually tastes like ube, which is pretty rare in ube-related food or drink. The choux, however, reminded me of pastry that has been sitting out for a while - kinda hard. The macarons were actually great. Flaky, soft, and the fillings were delicious. Sad that the quality has dropped so much. read more
I was looking for a small treat in Chinatown and obviously 10000 options came up. However, we decided on Desseire as an Asian-flavored French techniqued bakery sounded like an excellent option. Its in a less trafficked area of Chinatown and sort of tucked away in a corner of the strip mall. It has a casual pick up and go vibe, with display cases of baked goods and a couple options on the counter (dont miss the caneles). The cashier (potentially also the baker) was friendly and was super patient with us as we were making decisions and then noticing a special and adding extra goods (sorry for making you box and unbox so many times!) Anyways, all the baked goods we got were reasonably priced around $3-4. They also have some larger tiramisu options but we didn't grab any this time. I got a canele, a variety of choux, and some cupcakes. I enjoyed the canele and it had a very nice crust but the center wasn't as custardy as some I've had but regardless I enjoyed it and I also rarely see caneles so it was a nice treat. The choux were the winners for me though, filled with various creams (I got mango, pandan, and pistachio). I really liked the choux pastry and found it light and crisp. The filling was also perfect, light, held its texture and didn't spill out as I was eating it, and perfect level of sweetness for me. I also enjoyed flavor of the cupcakes but I did think they were slightly dense. Overall, this was such a great find and glad we stopped by. It may end up becoming one of my staples to have pastries for the week! read more

Stopped by Desseire to pick up a few desserts for a special occasion and left really impressed. The space is small and quaint, very straight to the point--but I also noticed some authentic Vietnamese dishes on the menu that caught my eye, so I'll definitely be back to try them next time. We grabbed a few unique desserts: Durian dessert (for the adventurous ) Japanese cheesecake Matcha tiramisu Unfortunately, we had a few more stops to make, so we didn't get to enjoy them fresh -- but here's the breakdown: Durian: Very true to the fruit and surprisingly light. Not my personal favorite, but if you love durian, I'd absolutely recommend trying it here. Japanese Cheesecake: Comparable to Uncle Tetsu, but with a creamier topping that paired really well with the soft, fluffy texture. Matcha Tiramisu: Easily my favorite. It had that rich, bitter, earthy matcha flavor that tells you they're using quality ingredients -- super potent in the best way. Honestly, the matcha tiramisu alone makes me want to come back and try all their other tiramisu flavors. I already recommended this spot to a friend right after! read more

I ordered a custom cake for my daughter's birthday and had a very disappointing experience. When I placed the order, the staff assured me they couldn't guarantee a 100% match to my inspiration photo but would match at least 85%. Unfortunately, when I picked up the cake, the only things they got right were the shape and the 3D sugar photo. The color wasn't even close to the light blue in the photo I provided--it was dark blue instead. The decorations were completely different as well, despite the fact that they charged me an extra $40 to supposedly source the exact materials from the photo. When I tried to address this with the store afterward, it took them days to respond to my first message. When I replied back, they completely ignored me and never responded again. Clearly, they didn't care anymore since they already had my money. The cake costs me $125. The store also blamed the issue on filters in my inspiration photo, claiming it made the colors appear different. However, anyone could clearly see that the cake in the photo was light blue, not the dark blue they used. To make matters worse, they questioned why I accepted the cake at pickup if I wasn't happy. It's outrageous--does the store expect me to show up to my daughter's birthday party without a cake? The entire situation was a disaster, and my daughter cried so hard on her special day. The store's poor response and shady business practices were completely unacceptable. If you're considering ordering a custom cake for a special occasion, save yourself the stress and look elsewhere! read more
Ube Cake for the Win! For a 6" cake, the cake was good for 6 people. The consistency was delish, definitely tasty & reasonably priced. Easy to make an order (via email or text) and it was ready next day! Lovely little spot, definitely recommend! read more

I found this small dessert shop in Chinatown awhile back and ever since then it's been my absolute go-to for special occasions. I get so excited bringing their cakes and cupcakes to other ppl because they always end up loving it. My favorites are the mango passion, pandan, and dragon fruit passion. The cake is soft and fluffy and their mousse like icing isn't too sweet. They also use fresh fruits to make the icing and you can taste the authentic fruit flavor. I love supporting small mom and pop shops like this and hope they get all the recognition they deserve! read more
Man. I LOVE this bakery. Every time we go to bellaire this is one of our must stop. Their cream puffs (choux) are AMAZING. i don't know how they get their cream to be so amazingly light not to sweet and tastes amazing. The fillings tastes just like their names! And their panna cottas lord have mercy so delicious! Small business too! read more

I'm disappointed. We've been going here for years, ordered multiple cakes from here including our groom's cake for our wedding, loved their chouxs and canneles but this time may be the last time. I placed an order for my parent's wedding anniversary cake almost 3 weeks in advanced and prepaid. My only job was to get the anniversary cake that my parents requested specific flavors. When I got there, there was no cake under my name. The girl who was in the front looked at my messages that were exchanged and went to talk to whoever in the back. She returned and said they can make one in 30 minutes. It was a little after 2PM, so I said ok since I had a little time before our hired private chef had dinner ready. I came back 45 minutes later and the cake was ready. The girl was about to charge me again but I told her I already paid and she said she forgot. I left and brought it home. When I cut into the cake, it was different colored chocolate layers and strawberry filling-- not what I ordered. I ordered a chocolate cake with raspberry filling. I could've been told that before I got the cake but no. I'm disappointed on how much how I paid for and what I got. Just one apology was given, nothing else. I will miss the chouxs but will not be giving this place my business anymore. Also no one told me a boba straw was included inside my cake. read more
Located at the corner of a strip mall, this dessert shop (I wouldn't call it a bakery because they do not sell bread) sells a small number of desserts with many different flavors. They have 7 different flavors of cupcakes, 10 different flavors of choux, 7 different flavors of macarons, and other miscellaneous desserts. I had the vanilla cupcake, chocolate tart, pavlova, Napoleon Mille Feuille, and 4 different flavors of choux (black sesame, matcha, mango, and pistachio raspberry). The vanilla cupcake was good. It was soft and fluffy. The cream wasn't too sweet. The chocolate tart filling was semi-sweet which was good. The tart shell was baked well too. However, the tart was destroyed by the dollops of chocolate cream on top. There wasn't a need to cover a good chocolate tart with whipped cream. The pavlova was sweet as it should be, but it wasn't airy enough. Again, it was ruined by the tall amount of whipped cream on top. Some whipped cream is fine, but the chef overdid it. Pavlova isn't originated from France by the way. The Napoleon Mille Feuille shouldn't be called a Mille Feuille. The pastry was merely a heap of whipped cream with bits of strawberries and blueberries encased in a puff pastry. The puff pastry was crispy and flaky, but there wasn't much lamination. There was way too much cream which was not proportionate to the amount of puff pastry. The 4 choux pastries were slightly over baked. The color was too dark, and they were crispy instead of soft. However, the choux pastries were filled nicely with no empty pockets. The fillings were great. Love the black sesame filling that had the bitter taste, which was authentic. The matcha filling was delicious too. Matcha tasted bitter with slight sweetness. As for the mango, and pistachio raspberry flavors, they were just ok. Service was meh. The staff didn't know a good way to box the desserts. Initially she put all the desserts into one big box without any dividers even though I asked for it. After seeing all my cream pastries touching each other, I had to ask the staff to separate the desserts into individual boxes. No thank you Desseire. read more
The cakes are tasty and not too sweet (the ultimate Asian compliment haha). White cake topped with a flavored mousse and chantilly icing. My fav flavor is the mango passion fruit. I recommend calling ahead to confirm they have the cake you want. Choux- we liked the black sesame and pandan I also liked the panna cotta with guava topping. read more

I love coming here and getting desserts. They are so good, and the prices are very reasonable! The macarons are less than $4 and have a bunch of unique flavors. They taste well and are also soft and fresh. I also love the choux. My favorite is the pandan choux. The texture is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a perfect pandan flavor. Their cupcakes are also soft and pillowy. I think everything here tastes spectacular, and the staff is also friendly. I really love this place and recommend it to everyone! read more

Wow! It's so empty but so good i hope they have good business cause their pastries are so good. Their prices are very reasonable too! The macarons was super duper good, the pandan taste was powerful! Beats my expectations. There's no sit down inside the bakery, it's more of a grab and go. read more

Worse experience ever. Go somewhere else to not ruin your special occasions! Asked for a cake to feed 8 and was quoted $115 for 8 in cake. I kept asking how much for a 6 in cake but the person texting kept quoting me $24 for 6 cupcakes. Cake - 8in, black chantilly cream, coffee cake and cream, drip, fresh fruits, & RIP twenties tombstone. I asked on Wednesday when I could pick up the cake Sunday and they only cared about payment. Asked again Saturday night and no response. Asked again Sunday and they called asking if I need to order a cake. Then they said 12 works, it was already 11:30. They called again at 11:41 to say won't be ready til 1. I said as long as it's ready by 1. Came to the shop at 1:41 and waited 5 min for them to bring out the cake. NO DRIP. Tombstone says "RIP". Cake wasn't even smooth, you can see the layers being covered. 5 minutes later, they asked if they could cut out fondant 20s? I replied with no, that's not what I ordered. 15 min later, they showed me the cake with a rolled out fondant trying to spell twenties. SUPER UGLY. 15 more minutes and they upped twenties on and it was still ugly but slightly better. Drove 30 min home and opened the cake for the tombstone to be bent over. I texted the phone # back and also message them on FB, only response was let us know what we can do? Um, I have a birthday party to host where you ordered a cake and expected it to be as ordered. Paid $100 for an ugly uneven cake. Don't know how you're suppose to make it up to me. No refund or anything was offered directly. Left on read multiple times. Cake didn't even taste good. It looked like uncooked cake smooshed together to be frosted last minute. read more

Very cute shop that I did not even know existed until last year. But while shopping for cakes, came across the pavlova that i have been wanting to get, but haven't seen at any local bakeries... Omg but the pavlova was amazing. I am already thinking about the next time I can get it. Ladies working there were very kind. The prices are pretty reasonable for what you get. read more
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! We stumbled on it through Yelp and was in town for a birthday. I ordered a last minute cake the day before and they were able to complete it. They offer Asian flavor cakes/cupcakes and they were so delicious! We got the ube cupcake, durian, and pistachio. We got the pandan cake last minute and it was so cute and good! We highly recommend this place. The service was amazing and the place has great parking and so pretty inside. They even make stencil signs for cake. read more
Wow!! One of my new favorite cakes place in Houston! I saw rad reviews and all the Asian flavors and had bookmarked this place to try awhile back.. but I hadn't had the time to make my way over just for a sweet treat for myself! Welp.. I was tasked last minute to order a cake for my aunt's 60th bday party so I decided to place an order and give this place a shot! Sent an email and didn't get a response so I have them a call the next day to follow-up! Was able to place an order for a 3 layer, celebration cake for pickup the following weekend! I couldn't make it the day of the party so asked if I could pick up the day before and keep it in the fridge., owner said that shouldn't be a problem. There is a pricing different for a 3 layer, by the layer.. vs a traditional 2 layer celebration cake. I was ok with it cause I think the taller cakes are prettier! I had intended on ordering the durian cake but decided to ask what was the most popular - she said mango passion so I thought I'd give that a go, and boy did it not disappoint! Cake was served the following day and it looked just as great as when we picked it up. Cake was moist and the flavors were amazing! I could taste the mango, I could taste a hint of the passionfruit, and it wasn't overly sweet! It was perfect! She only does icing flower and doesn't do real flowers, but that's ok. I opted for a naked cake cause we don't really like a ton of icing in our house. It was beautiful, with the floral on one side. I added a topper and it was the cutest! The layers were done well - with a few boba straws inside to prevent it from collapsing. It was exactly what I wanted.. so pleasantly surprised and already planning my next order or trip back!! We liked it that much! The guests even asked me where I purchased it so they could go! On top of the cake, I added tiramisu and durian cupcakes! The Durian was super strong in flavor and I really enjoyed every bite! My mom bought an assortment of cream puffs and they were also delish! They had a Chinese pineapple bun crispy top with a very strong flavor of cream inside depending on the intended flavor.. the Thai tea tasted exactly like Thai tea.. the coffee was exactly as stated. This is true for all flavors at this bakery. I loved loved loved every bite of everything we got! Can't wait to come back cause we're definitely already planning our next order/trip here! read more

Their desserts are lovely! Not too sweet and very light and airy pastries. The tiramisu is very smooth and creamy, highly recommend! The full topping milk tea was exactly like I imagined from their instagram page and I was elated to see the topping variety! The workers were also very patient and helpful and patient with us choosing pastries from the display. Would definitely recommend! read more

Went for the 2nd time and I have to say that their service is top tier! Great recommendations and answered my questions clearly, not only that but they helped me bring my things out to the car because I bought so much! I ordered the Iced Matcha Latte, where they adjusted for me when I asked for it to be a little extra sweet. I also got the Pandan Cupcake again, a long with the Ube, the Ube Choux, the Purple Rice Yogurt, the Salted Egg Cake, and the Pandan Coconut Mini Cake, and the Durian Crepe. I loved everything I got just because I'm a huge sweets lover but also because it was just the perfect sweetness. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough. Usually American sweets like Crumbl or Tiff's Treats is too sweet for me so if you're like that too, I recommend this place! read more
THE CHOU IS SOOOOO GOOD. I think that's what I ordered, hopefully so! I got the coffee, pandan, milk tea, Thai tea, ube, and pistachio! I really like the Thai tea and ube UGHHH so good.
