In morning I did some online research to see if I could fix it myself sooner. I believe I could have fixed it (I'm pretty handy and have these kinds of tools already) IF I could have gotten my hands on the part I needed for $12 from Home Depot or similar. Amazon delivery was a day or two away. Got a call to say he'd be here in 20 minutes, so I tabled that thought. Walter came and showed me my air filter was dirtier than I expected, so I replaced that on the spot. He then replaced the exact part I was going to (so I was sad I didn't just do it myself, but again it would have been 24-48 hours later to get my hands on it). The compressor should have just kicked in after that but evidently there was a loose electrical connection, which he troubleshot and fixed quickly. Everything fired up and he checked the Freon level, which he said was fine. Cooling is working now as it should be. Walter told me to keep an eye on it and let him know if any other issues come up, as compressor could be damaged from running broken before the fix. Price was reasonable, though not anywhere near what it would have cost for me to fix it myself. But considering it was a Saturday morning (and I started looking for repairs on Friday night) for "emergency service" it was the same as what a competitor was quoting me for service "sometime" on Monday (non-emergency service). So, by this standard, which I suppose most homeowners would use, I judge it to be pretty reasonable. Walter was professional, friendly, and courteous. Only other thing to mention is paying with a credit card is 4% more. So I paid him with a check.

Our ducts in our new construction home were extremely dusty from not being covered during construction. And they were contaminated with fiberglass from not properly being sealed. Real Clean Air sealed all the holes, joints, and seams in our metal ducts using zero VOC mastic. After they sealed the ducts, they came back out to clean them and the HVAC unit. They did two extremely thorough rounds of cleaning. The first round was with a pneumatic brush to help loosen the dirt and fiberglass in our metal ducts. The second round was with an air whip. They did this under negative pressure so that no contaminates would enter our home. They even came on Memorial Day because they didn't want us to go any longer without AC! What's interesting is that I asked the plumber how much the job would have costed me without my warranty and he said $250!! So I'm confused at how a $250 job was billed at $550. My warranty company called them and they said they wouldn't send anyone out until I paid the additional $350. I'm also confused at how he "snaked the line to the street" and that same line is still clogged per the new plumber currently working in my basement. He also cracked the line cap which is why the water is backing up in the basement and not in the pipes as it initially did!
