I had a terrible experience with Kwasi with Boadi Banner Controls through Choice warranty. I have…read more24 year old Lenox AC using R-22 and Kwasi diagnosed that the system was 3Ibs low on refrigerant. This was a substantial leak but he told me that Choice warranty protocol is to refill the R-22 rather than check for where the leak is. Next he said Choice protocol was to add a refrigerant sealant solution to stop the leak and came back following week to perform that procedure. When the system was still not cooling efficiently, taking 2.5 hours of constant running to bring temp down from 80 to 78, he came back third time and at my insistence performed a sniffer test of the coils behind inside panel which beeped when he scanned the left side coils. To this Kwasi stated that it needed to be a long continuous beep to indicate a leak. Note that Kwasi added refrigerant each of the three visits but did not report this in any written notes to me or Choice. I wrote a detailed account of what transpired and my concerns regarding the Technician's review and the continued poor performance of my AC system to Choice. However, the Choice claim manager Andrea Marsden said I would need to get a second opinion on my own and submit to Choice for review. Both Kwasi with Boadi and Choice warranty are unethical and criminal. Will report to better business bureau both businesses.

They were prompt, courteous, and sadly said it would be more cost-efficient to replace the whole thing than buy parts to fix it. Hey, it's the original and the house was built in 1998 so that's reasonable! Anyway, my only ding would be the communication but in their defense, it was a 3-way process with the warranty company. The parts took over a week to arrive, which they warned me about, upon which they were timely in scheduling the install. On the scheduled day, they pushed back the time by a few hours because their previous job took longer than expected. But the new unit was installed and works perfectly!

The initial inspection involved looking at my daughters vents, then looking at the HVAC before stating that the cost of the repairs and work done might not get the results I'm hoping for. In the future, It would be helpful if they ran through a few preliminary questions or pictures of the unit to see if a trip out is worth the time. Before the technician left I asked a few more questions before he suggested a Home Energy Audit. I'm hopeful that the home energy audit could put me on a better path to resolving the cooling issues in my home. Edit: Rob contacted me after my review and explained a few other details where now I feel the information that he provided was worth the cost.

I picked Exxel to replace our system based on these: 1. Very detailed quotes, model number, seer, eer, afue, capacity, etc. everything that I needed to research and compare. 2. Detail explanation of the warranty period. 3. Explanation of what would happen on the day of installation, again very detailed, so no surprises. 4. I asked for multiple quotes based on two stage and variable stage units and seers. Bob wasn't annoyed that I asked for multiple quotes so I can research and compare. He provided multiple quotes in less than 24hrs. Other companies seem annoyed that I asked for multiple quotes and didn't really provide what I asked for. I felt that he understood as consumers, we all do research before purchasing high price items and he was not annoyed with that fact. 5. I had additional questions (probably some stupid ones that hvac professionals get all the time) and Bob patiently answered my questions. At the day of the installation, they arrived within their estimated time. Bob and Greg were very professional. They called in the morning and gave me the arrival time. Since we don't wear shoes in our house, I had covered our floor with tarps, too my surprise they put their tarps on top of my tarps. It was totally fine with me considering they observed that we don't wear shoes and respected that and tried to keep our floors clean. The install took about eight hours and I was glad that there was no pressure to sell me other stuff. They cleaned up the area before leaving. I highly recommend Exxel and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.....when it's time to replace our upstairs heat pump.
