I recently had my first service visit with Cold Comfort, and I was very impressed. Jerry was the…read moretechnician who came out, and he was knowledgeable, thorough, and easy to talk to. It can be difficult to find honest and reliable HVAC companies, but this experience stood out. I had several questions prepared about my refrigerant, capacitor, and overall system, but I found that I did not even need to ask them because Jerry naturally addressed those topics during our conversation and explained everything clearly. He also completed a detailed inspection of my HVAC closet and offered a helpful recommendation for a better filter. The service was straightforward, with a flat fee and no upselling or pressure, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will definitely be using Cold Comfort again for my annual maintenance.

Jary (who helped us when we first moved in) came out on Tuesday and said we had a leak somewhere since the closed-system unit was totally out of coolant. He came back Weds. to do the leak detection and found the leak, recommended a new coil. We had the new coil installed on Friday; this time it was Ricardo and team that did the work installing the coil. They did a great job and a couple hours later our house was back to normal temperature. Gabriel helped us with all the coordination and estimates and seeing if the part was still under warranty (it wasn't, but I didn't expect it would be honestly.) No one likes spending a bunch of money on repairs but I'm very confident that the recommendations Jary made were sound and correct. He did not attempt to upsell me at all, which is greatly appreciated. (The estimates Gabriel sent did include options for replacing the unit, but that wasn't necessary at this time and there was no pressure to do so.) I will continue to call them if we have issues in future with our HVAC system.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have used GAC for electric and HVAC services in the past,…read moreand have been very satisfied. In fact, 3 years ago, they got a 5 star review from me. I have paid for a prime membership for years. Recently, I added plumbing to my membership. On 9/30/2026, a plumbing technician came out and did a free assessment and found a couple of "issues". On 10/7/2026 - two GAC plumbers (neither of which were a master plumber) did some work on my home: (1) a water service upgrade for about $2000 (2) installation of new toilet for about $700, and (3) repaired a leaky pipe for about $500. Total cost $3300. Almost immediately, we noticed a significant and loud humming sound coming from the water service upgraded pipes, and notified GAC of the issue on 10/9/2026. It took until 10/12/2026 for someone to come out and fix the issue. They said they fixed the issue - they did not. Two days later (10/14/2026) the humming returned, we immediately called to have someone come out AGAIN to resolve the issue. Initially, we were told they couldn't find anyone in the plumbing department to help and only after a number of insistent phones calls were we told that they will be here TOMORROW (10/17/2026). Given the fact that we spent $3300 on services, they should have made our issues a priority. ESPECIALLY, since we have been long time customers and have paid for a prime membership plan for years. Note: every time they schedule a visit, we literally have to upend our entire schedules to accommodate the visit. Very annoying. So suffice it to say, I will NEVER use the plumbing crew of GAC Services, and I am reconsidering sticking with the membership plan and whether I would use them again for any other services (i.e. HVAC or electric).

The main problem and downside is that they are very expensive and overcharge. Despite the Yelp page saying that the company provides a "free estimate", I was quoted $49 for the technician to travel. In addition, if I had not chosen to go ahead with the repair, the company would have charged me an additional $150 diagnostic fee. Essentially, despite the yelp profile stating a "free estimate", it will cost you closer to $200 to get a quote. I see this as false advertisement. In addition, when the technician concluded that the problem was the capacitor, I received a final quote of $600. When I googled the price of the same capacitor online, the price range was in between 75$ - 150$. Essentially, they are charging a premium of at least $450 per replacement for a single part (capacitor). Despite their professionalism and quality work, I do not recommend this company for the reasons stated above. If price is not a concern for you, and you would rather pay twice the market value for a job then you should definitely choose them. EDIT: I actually googled the price of a capacitor and offered to buy my own. I was told that by the technician that if I purchased my own capacitor that the company would not install it. In conclusion, they did not address any of my concerns. Unfortunately, after reading the other bad reviews, there seems to be a consistent pattern of discrepancies between what they tell customers and what they instruct technicians to say on site. Making an honest living is so much more rewarding than making it dishonest living.
