We arrived about half an hour early after stopping at Lake Effect for scoops. Who needs dinner and a show when tummy ice cream is involved? The theater also sells snacks as food and drinks from the outside are banned. We were greeted outside by a dapper gentleman who held the door for us to get into the lobby. Unlike other theaters, there was elbow room to have them check out printed tickets and make conversation about the show. Others had digital tickets that seemed to work as well. We popped into the loo, which thankfully had multiple stalls, hardly any wait and was fully stocked with soap and towels. There were people selling souvenir toys and raffle tickets that we bypassed to find our seats. The playbill girl gave us a rough estimate of where we would be located. Thankfully everything is clearly labeled as to not get lost. For a mere 40 each, after fees, we were five rows back, centered. The view was clear, the sound was clear and the leg room- my gosh. For the first time in a long time a theater had room for me to stretch my legs a bit instead of cramming in more seats. The view is historically gorgeous in architecture and paint. Though we were there to experience the show, not just a building. The show started on time, held a brief intermission and concluded in about two hours. During that time, we got wowed by talented singers, very acrobatic dancers and mostly talented actors. (There was one that we would have probably chosen a different person to portray the roll, but I'm not going to crush a child's dreams when they did adequately. And others filled their rolls amazingly so I'm chalking it up to personal preference.) The costumes are well constructed without being extravagant. Tiny shorts cover any areas that would make this child friendly show receive an R rating. At the end, after all the standing ovations, we were able to exit with ease and get back to the car, parked at no cost in a nearby lot. Beat that Buffalo parking. Extra shout-out to whoever put the dual drummers in the loge to let us see the masterminds at work. They were the heartbeat of the show for me!

It's an interesting take on a caprese, although I would have liked actual mozzarella pieces as well. What makes the dinner interesting is you need to pay attention to the dishes. For most, there's something included in it that helps you with the puzzle. The truffled mushroom cigar looks impressive; a thin crispy crepe filled with a mushroom mousse garnished with black sesame ash to really give it the full effect. It's too sweet for my taste but I get why it's needed in the context of the game. Diners have a choice of mains: beef, chicken, or falafels. We all opted for the braised beef, a decent portion served with silky garlic mashed potatoes, carrots, and green beans in a rich jus. Before the main, I was still hungry but given its sizeable portion it left me satisfied. The beef was nice and tender and quite good for a murder mystery. Before the dessert we're given a palette cleanser. How it comes and what it is, I'll keep secret and not spoil the game. We end with another mousse, this one a cheesecake topped with graham crumbs and a berry compote. It's good, but by this time I'm a bit tired of mousses, just give me something to chew on already! Who knows, maybe they thought their demographic would seniors with no teeth. Having been to several murder mystery dinners, I'd say this was the most enjoyable. The Perfect Bite is more than a show, they include puzzles with each course, which give you clues towards a larger puzzle. Ultimately, it creates a more entertaining and interactive experience and makes for great teamwork to get to the next course. Rest assured, they're not difficult puzzles and if you're stuck, "Frank" the bar manager comes around to steer you in the right direction. Without giving too much away, I also liked that there's a twist, and it culminates in the final puzzle where you can really sleuth by getting out of your seat and using other devices.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine sense of joy that set the tone for the evening. We were escorted to our table in a dining area that felt both spacious and intimate. Everything was clean, well-organized, and thoughtfully arranged. The tables were dressed with cloth napkins, tablecloths, and seat covers, giving it a relaxed yet elegant feel. As an avid tea drinker, I personally was expecting at least loose tea. We were given one hot tea pot for the table and had to constantly ask for refills until towards the end when the server gave us a second pot. It was a bit dangerous for us trying to pass one kettle around the table of four people as well. They also don't give you any iced water to drink on the side which was disappointing. In addition, no one came to clean out or change out your tea cup when you were moving on to drink the next tea. So I ended having a taste of earl grey in the chamomile tea. For the 3rd tea, I ended up dumping some of it out on my plate and wiping with my napkin. Eek! We did however, enjoy the food. They present you with a 3 tiered tray with a variety of finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries and jam/butter. We all thought the finger sandwiches, scones and desserts were delicious. Community Theater at its finest! This was not my first show here and it won't be my last…read more Everything I have seen is fantastic from front to back of house. They have a couple of pre-sale ticket locations but being from out of town I can not access those sites easily. I do wish they had online sales for convenience but there has always been tickets available at the door so I don't stress out about it. Before the show you can peruse through giant scrap books with past shows and other theater information. It is cool to be able to look through a troupes history. Enjoy a snack any time as refreshments are sold before and during intermission. Just follow theater etiquette and try to keep the wrapper rustling to a minimum. Their home is in the Sheridan Parkside Community center which is an old school. The only slight flaw is that the seats are less than ideal due to the age of the facilities, but they are currently raising money to renovate the seating so I expect that issue to be resolved in the coming year. I believe all shows run two weekends at least and they often offer dinner theater on opening night of some shows. The acting is supurb, the sets are stellar and it has always been a great night of entertainment. I encourage you to support Towne Players, support your community and support the arts. It is worth it!

The one downside I would note is that this is a child friendly show, which isn't a problem, except you may be put at a table with young children. When sat we were put next to each other causing a party of five to be across from us, they sat the young children at the end of the table, so they could see understandably, but they sat parents down at the opposite end. The family was very respectful, but if you are not a children person, this may not be the environment for you. Over all great show! However new owners decided to buy it recently and have done such great things!!!. They have a full bar to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; as well as a popcorn and candy stand. The owners and staff that work there are very very nice and knowledgable about ROC history. What I liked most though of ROC cinema was the ambiance. Outside it looks like an old school cinema (which I find fun). However on the inside is all brand new and renovated. The theaters are different too. They are full service so you can order anything you like during the movie and it will be delivered to you all at decent prices unlike the other full service movie theaters. There are long counter type tables in every aisle and the large comfy computer chairs for your seating that are adjustable in any direction. Every 2 seats there is a table light to be on or off depending if you're eating out. Every night of the week they have special themed events as well too. I Plan on checking them out too! I highly recommend ROC Cinema.
