I'm new to the RV world with my camper van, and this resort, only the second RV park I've ever stayed at, made me realize how much I'm going to love RV parks and resorts! I didn't have a reservation and knew I'd be arriving late and leaving early in the morning. When I called, the voicemail greeting clearly explained how to check in. It didn't make total sense at first, but when I arrived after hours, everything was perfectly organized. A registration packet with a map and an envelope for payment or credit card info was waiting at the office. I truly appreciate this honor system, it shows a level of trust and integrity from the owner that's rare to find. This place has it all: full hookups, showers, a pool, and even a jacuzzi. The guests here are super friendly, it really feels like a whole other community. Since I was already gone by morning, the staff emailed me a receipt as soon as they got into the office. It's a nice park, but they apparently have a history of electric bikes being stolen from RVers at 2 AM and there is no locked fence or even a place to put your bikes in at night like at other RV parks we have stayed at that have this problem. We didn't have bikes being stolen but after talking to several people we just didn't feel safe and won't be coming back. Pity as it's overall a really nice place to stay at when we are enjoying spring training. We found some Parks in Goodyear that have gates that we are switching to. TRAVELERS BEWARE - DO NOT STAY HERE. This is not a normal camping RV park. It is really a very old (1969) mobile home park with about 600+ permanent residences. There are only 28 pull thru sites for short term rental. And they are located right at the park entrance with no gate, no check-in stop and no lighting, cameras or security. The first and only night we stayed here our $2,000+ electric bike was stolen off our locked and covered bike rack at 3:30am. And the Thule bike rack was ruined. We were awakened at that time by a loud but short motor sound followed by a bang and a shaking of our trailer. At first we thought the wind had blown something into our trailer. It took a couple of minutes to gather our thoughts and look out the windows before going outside. After cautiously proceeding, it was discovered that our bike had been stolen. The next morning we spoke with another camper 1 space over to see if he had seen or heard anything and he did hear the noise but didn't see anything. He also thought it might have been wind related and thus put his awing in. He did however, inform us that at check-in he was told "if you have bikes or camp valuables they recommend that you keep them inside your RV if you are gone or at night". The reason is they have had theft problems before in the RV pull thru sites. We were not given this piece of information. Also that morning we spoke with a full time resident who was taking a walk and she told us this has been a chronic problem at the RV pull thru sites and the complex has done nothing to resolve it. And they usually will warn you to secure everything. We did call the police and they came out to take a report and they confirmed that bike, motor cycle and car theft is pretty pervasive in this area. And they aren't sure why the complex hasn't done anything for better security. Now comes the bulls--t from the management or office staff. We went to complain and inform them of the theft and to request our money back. We also asked why they didn't inform us of the problem and the recommendation to lock stuff in your RV. The woman said "oh we never tell anybody that" which means our site neighbor and the resident just made that up. I asked why there is no gate or lights or cameras or security and here is her response. I paraphrase "The police don't care to even look at camera footage, the city won't let us put in a gate, (even though the police have recommended it), we are not responsible for stolen property or damages". I even asked why wouldn't you attach a flyer or note in the check-in paper work letting people know there is a theft problem in the area? Her response was "if we did that people wouldn't want to stay here". So the result is get your property stolen so we don't lose any customers. Now comes the wonderful customer service - NOT!! At first they offered to return our money. But after going through all the "why do nothing for security" options my wife said "well, we will be noting this problem in our review", the lady responded "well, if you're going to give us a bad review, forget the refund" and threw my credit back at me. Good Sam has been notified of the park problems and that this park in no way meets the Good Sam standards and should not be recommended. read more

Very nice people checking us in. The site was clean and easy to pull through. Location was great and close to everything iwe needed. Wish we had more than one night there. We felt really safe at this resort. We also used to dog park which is very small but clean! We had to drive to it, but at least there was one. read more

We were in Phoenix for a week of high school reunions, old friend connections, quality Mexican food and a relaxing pace from our otherwise frenetic schedules. Desert Shadows is a year-round mobile home park, with the front and center spaces for short-term campers. The park is conveniently located near many businesses, including COSTCO which is out of the back driveway. The pads are graveled with full-sized cement pads for eating, sitting outside at night and otherwise entertaining. Full hook-ups are at each site, all of which are pull-through. TV reception is terrific. WiFi is available at each site for a daily or weekly rate, but there is free WiFi in the office and game rooms. There are rooms for crafts, games, TV watching and cards. The pool is indoors and continually heated at a comfortable 85 degrees. It is pristine. There is also a small fitness center. The showers adjoining the pool are clean and the changing room adequate. There are laundry facilities on premise and they are very clean. While doing your laundry, you can also sit in some cozy chairs in front of a TV that you can tune to your desired needs. Check in and check out was a breeze. Staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to stay. We would even consider wintering here. read more

THEY ACCUSED ME OF LYING! On my initial email reservation inquiry, I said I had 4 dogs I'd like to bring. These are small medium dogs, well trained, canine good citizen certification, ex show dogs, all spayed or neutered. I was honest. A return voicemail said they'd be unable to accommodate me because they have a limit of 2 dogs. I could not find this or other rules published on their website. I called back to discuss and assure them I would board 2 dogs at home and only bring 2 dogs to comply with their rules. they would not accept a reservation because they said I would be lying. terrible customer service and discrimination, penalized for my naive honesty. read more

One of the finest RV Parks we've had the pleasure of visiting. Lots of amenities, convenient to stores, restaurants, other Coachella Valley cities, as well as beautiful attractions including the Joshua Tree National Park to the east. Beautiful RV sites, with luxurious grass, close to the 2 pools, 2 spas, laundry, immaculate bathrooms/showers, clubhouse, pickleball courts and a bocce ball court. Lovely, attentive and helpful office staff complete the totality of this resort. We loved the 6 nights we spent there so much, that we went ahead and booked all of Jan 2025 before we left. We stayed here because Good Sam gave it their highest rating, 10/10/10. Big mistake. Good Sam members give it approx 3 stars so I'm not sure how they rate 10/10/10. It should be a 5/5/5. First, this is an OLD mobile home park for park model trailers that are practically on top of each other. It is not an "RV Resort". They just happen to have 20-some RV spaces. Secondly, they are the only "RV Resort" we have ever stayed at that does not accept packages (Amazon, UPS, etc). They do not tell you this when you reserve. They don't tell you about the package policy unless you advise them you have a package coming. Only then will you learn that they will refuse delivery. Then your packages get returned to the shipper. You need to have your site number to get packages but you don't get that until after you arrive and learn of the policy. Surprise! Thirdly, they have extensive rules but don't enforce them. The Class A next to us had continually barking dogs. They had a guest with two dogs walking IN OUR SITE. The dogs were well into our site at the ends of their leashes lunching at us, barking and baring their teeth which prevented me from getting to our vehicle. I reached out to management but nothing was done to fix this issue. The next night, the neighbors left the dogs alone and the poor things barked literally for hours. I took videos. Another guest also came over to find out about the barking. I again reached out to management and sent them one of the videos. No improvement. I called the "emergency number" which you only find out about if you physically go in the office and search for signs. The person I talked to said he couldn't help. I asked if he would reach out to the manager and he said we would have to wait until morning. The next day, WE CHECKED INTO A HOTEL!!! Clearly, no one in management or the office could be bothered to enforce their own pet rules. In our opinion, they're there for their buddies in the mobile home community and the RV spaces and guests are an inconvenience to them. There is also no security. At best, this is a C-rated place to stay ONLY IF YOU ARE DESPERATE. read more

If you follow the RV directions to the address you'll find yourself in the back of the compound searching for the entry. . . Which is in a circle maze of residential streets. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant, they left our reservation slip for us for our late check-in. The pool and spa was very clean and so were the showers. They had a lot of activity's and games for kids if you have those. The neighbors were pleasant and helpful. Very old , and chill not the turn up for young RV'rs. Overall the experience reminded me of a mobile home park in palm springs and i liked that happy valleys shopping centers were all of a 8 minute drive away. read more

Bought a mobile home here 6 weeks ago. Told the sales agent for Desert Shadows [works for them] that I should get a home inspection before buying. He said, "Oh, you don't need to do that, they always find so many things to stop the sale". "That's how they make their money there's nothing wrong with the place". He was so cool and collected that I bought his advice. What a mistake. Ten days after moving in the pipes under unit burst and I found out multiple repairs had been made. Cost me thousands of dollars to fix. They are doing nothing but smiling and telling me you bought as is! I'm sure that this review will have its consequences [I expect to be on their s--- list]. I still need to tell all, be AWARE, have your place inspected before you buy. Do not buy without an inspection!!!! Make sure they look underneath, that is where defective pipes are!!! read more

Nice resort. Clean, well run and friendly folk. Nice pool and amenities. A lot of park models with long term tenants. Lots of pavement and few trees. Pretty crowded. If you are an overnighter there is a nice area in the front of the park with pull throughs where they put short timers - easy in and easy out. On all sites there is full hook up and someone to guide you to your spot and help you back in if needed. If you are ok with a bit of "trailer park" feel this place is fine. This resort is in town and is primarily for ages 55 and older, but allows families to stay stay short-term. We did not realize this when we made our reservation, but learned it quickly when we checked in and found out that kids can only use the pool 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening, and they are not allowed in the billiard room at all. It might be great for people 55 and older, who want to be in town and not out in nature, but my family and I were happy we only stayed one night as we were passing through the area. read more

No Grass at all and no free internet like most RV parks provide that we have stayed at recently. Plus, the instructions for connecting to the internet need to be updated and are difficult for even tech savvy RV travelers. No ice available and amenities are limited due to covid but no discount is being given for not being able to use the recreational facilities. Staff has also been less than helpful since they didn't provide information that instead was provided by other guests. Not impressed for the price we paid. read more

I've stayed here at least 3 times for extended periods and given them thousands of dollars in rent and now all of the sudden they won't let me in because they are "55 and over". Even though they made an exception for me last year (I'm 51). They will also lie to you during snowbird season and tell you that they don't have any availability even when they do......it all depends on who you get on the phone or what side of the bed they woke up on. This place is just ridiculous and they play games. read more

We recently stayed at this rv park for 4 days. We swam in the pool everyday and enjoyed the jacuzzi as well. The hook ups and space were all good. It is a quiet rv park that had a good feel to it. We brought our German shepherd with us. read more

Clean and well maintained park. It is primarily a mobile home park but has a couple of rows dedicated for RV's. The staff was friendly and had our reservation packet waiting since we arrived a bit after the office closed. WiFi for a fee, no cable but some antenna TV available. Use the main entrance on the west side of the park as the east side is gated and accessed by remote, even for exit. We exited to the east to gas up at the neighboring Costco and were lucky enough to have a friendly resident let us out via the gate! Definitely on our list for visiting the greater Phoenix area! read more

We relocated to the Phoenix area from Cottonwood, CA (Redding area) due to positions in healthcare. We have a brand new 37ft 5th wheel and reserved a space at Desert Shadows. The plan was to only be there 3 months. We were there 9 months while searching for our new home. It was fine for 7ish months. Everything is clean, not ideal for dogs as there is ZERO grass anywhere. Spaces are tight and they are packed in. If you want privacy, this is not your place. Had several different neighbors, in and out, with ZERO issues during our time there. Many traveling nurses etc use this location and we made many friends...working in healthcare, it's not a place we will be recommending. All was fine until 8 months in when our new home was already in escrow and it must have been a friend of the owners who moved in next door because suddenly after 8 months, everything was a problem. I complained initially about the noise of one neighbor (slamming doors at all hours day and night) and the smoking of another (who wanted to smoke right outside of our RV...)...we had not changed any practices ourselves, yet suddenly everyone is complaining about our dogs. (A chocolate lab and a pug). I hired a dog walker through Rover the minute we arrived at Desert Shadows (August) who walked our dogs daily while my husband and I were at work. We cleaned our "dog duty" daily. Long story short, we moved into our new home on April 21, paid rent through May 13 (left our RV in the space while we moved) and arranged RV storage through Desert Shadows... May 14 we got an e mail as usual about utilities as we always had for 9 months..my husband placed it in "bill pay" and sent as usual. Every day after (yes, after May 14) I got a call from Desert Shadows asking "how we intend to take care of this $147"...Mind you, we have a $60,000 RV sitting in their storage with storage paid for 6 months. Do you think we are going to run out on a $147 utility bill? And!!!!! Don't bother paying for the WIFI...it sucks! If you have Verizon and a cell phone, then use that as a "hotspot"... Desert Shadows get's the money for that ($29.99 per space that chooses to use it)..it's not your own account and you can hardly ever connect!!!! Do the math...how many spaces at Desert Shadows? Plus Space Rent (depending on season) ??? Yet they are calling me daily for $147??? This went on for days...a call every day from June the owners wife...basically acting as if we were common criminals trying to run out on a bill. The money showed paid in our bank account. I spoke with June and let her know, my husband e mailed, and STILL they had to call daily. I guess they need the money? Aside from that, there is an amazing quilting group. They do have activites. Dinners, Bingo, Music, Craft Shows... Dont plan on washing/drying clothes...50% of the washers/dryers are not working at any given time...they also leave stains on your clothing so don't wash anything important. I am currently waiting on a refund check for the pre paid storage... as we made other storage arrangements for our RV. We are paying more, also paid 6 months in advance, but the new place is much easier to do business and we don't have to deal with the unprofessionalism of June ....we'll see when we get that check.... There is a lovely lady with an accent at the front desk office who is amazing. Very kind and sweet. The workers who pick up trash and caretake the property are so kind. The owners and volunteer Pete are some of the rudest people I've ever encountered. Good luck people!! read more

Great RV Park for big rigs. We are 67 feet including our trailer. We have hose extensions otherwise it would have been an issue. Couldn't get TV but that was fine. The kids could only use the pool from 12-2 and 5-7 and it said no kids in the jacuzzi. Our kids are teenagers and nobody said a word about being there outside of those hours. As others said it's in the middle of a mobile home park and you have to walk pretty far to the dumpster or they pick up Mondays. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed our stay! read more

We have stayed at this park twice, in March 2017 and March 2018. It has a Good Sam 10/10/10 rating, which I think is generous, but it has everything you need in a convenient location. The bathrooms are kept clean but are showing their age, and there is a large laundry facility, indoor pool and hot tub. WiFi is only available free at the clubhouse. The resort is mostly park models, with the short term RV spots up at the front and lacking in shade or privacy. Relatively level, nice long pull through spaces on gravel pads. They warn you to lock up your bicycles because of the surrounding neighborhood, but other than that, we felt safe there. Overall, average for an RV resort, but the best close into Phoenix. If our travels take us back this way, we would stay again. read more

We love Desert Shadows RV Resort. The staff are friendly. The indoor pool is clean. The jacuzzi pool is large and clean, too. This park is RV & has many park models. This is our third stay here. They have storage for our 20' stacker trailer, or if we stay short term, we can rent a pull through site that's appx 80'. COSTCO is directly behind DS - super convenient along with a big mall with all the restaurants, Target, etc. We're 15 minutes from Anthem. Also easy to get to - 1/2 mile off I- 17. read more

Obviously they don't want business. We attempted to book for our campervan. When we told them we would require electric only and wouldn't be using the sewer hookup, we were told we could not stay if we didn't use sewer. Ridiculous! We tried to reserve an Rv space for January. Stopped in today and spoke with 2 clerks and the manager. Courteous enough but refused to rent a spot to us because we have 2 teen age daughters that are not even going to be staying with us while my wife has some ongoing medical treatments in Scottsdale. Without calling me a liar they refused us service because they would not trust us to not bring the kids. I told them that they had my word and that they could just throw us out but that was not good enough for the manager. Funny how there is a sign in the pool area with specific hours for children and they must be accompanied by an adult. They are well rated by Good Sam's also. I will be contacting Good Sams to downgrade their ratings! Pass this park up, we will just take our Newmar elsewhere!! read more

Resort is a real stretch .. It's a 30 year old trailer park with 90% of the sites filled with park models and RV's thrown in-between.. Nice pool & spa.. Showers are old & small only 3 in the whole park for women & 3 in the mens room.. Showers are Not handicapped accessible.. Nice library, free ice machine. Pull through sites are all rock and not very level.. Concert patio pads are small & some are cracked. Palm trees are in the way and offer no shade..NO WIFI & NO CABLE.. The yearly RV sites are redone ( bigger patio pads, pavers etc) at the renters expense. The lots are very unlevel, tilting towards the street. They are also very close together. We have been here several times & I have never seen anyone use the shuffleboard courts or bocce ball courts..Waste of space, Fruit trees at most of the permeant sites offer lemons and grapefruit.. read more

I would not call it a resort. It is a lot of mobile homes and many people living in there RVs there. We had no problem parking our 45 ft RV. Nice office staff. Had planned to be there 2 days, and stayed 4 days. We will stop again if we pass by on the way home. read more

Hey place to spend a week vacation clean and friendly will stay there again next time in town

This is mainly mobile home housing with several unshaded pull through sites for TT's and big rigs. Full hookups, restrooms, showers, pool, free ice on the honor system-no more than 3 scoops! Lots of amenities. Office staff was nice, they were also nice over the phone. I would stay here again, but not in July cuz it's just too hot. I would give it 5 stars if they had planted more trees for shade and to offer some privacy between spots cuz it's basically a gravel parking area for each rig with nothing but the electrical post between you and your neighbor, that's if you're traveling through and not living there. They do have park model homes for sale and that area is very pretty with landscaping between each model home. read more

This place is clean and nice and well taken care of, a stark contrast to the place we had planned to stay. A quick phone call to the office got us an automated after hours message giving us all the instruction we needed. We feel very safe and comfortable here. The spots are nice and big and the grounds are nice. Rates are reasonable for the area. Shopping is close if you need anything. Over all I think it was a great find and I would recommend it to anyone. My daughter is at GCU and I'm sure we will be back. read more
