I've been to China Chili three times now, so I can safely say it's my favorite Chinese restaurant…read morein town. On my most recent visit, I stopped by on a Friday evening for dinner. They have complimentary parking in the front, side, and back of the restaurant. There aren't a ton of spots, but there's street parking close by too. Ambiance (3.5/5): Like most Chinese restaurants, China Chili is pretty no frills. Which isn't a problem for me at all, I'm there for the food. It's a spacious restaurant with both regular tables and circular tables that rotates (good for large groups sharing dishes). Service (4/5): Fantastic service is also not something I expect at a Chinese restaurant. Yet again, I'm there for the food. With that being said, service, while not overly friendly, is typically pretty efficient. Which I always appreciate. Drinks (4/5): Pretty much your standard soft drinks, tea, and a limited selection of alcoholic beverages. My favorite option is their buddha beer which you don't see in a lot of places. It's a lager and it's in a buddha-shaped bottle. It doesn't get much better than that. Food (5/5): The first time I came was for one of my favorite dishes... Peking duck. There aren't a ton of spots in Phoenix that have it, but out of the ones that do, China Chili serves it at a high level. You can go with either crepes or baos (additional surcharge). The duck is absolutely to die for. Flavorful, juicy meat with crispy skin that fits in perfectly into your mini "sandwich" with green onions and Hoisin sauce. For a reasonable price too. Their food outside of duck is of a similar quality. I especially like their flat noodles with beef. Even classic dishes like sesame chicken have a twist here. It's sliced chicken rather than fully breaded chicken. Just as good as the typical way, the sauce is delicious. My only complaint? They give you a pretty small helping of white rice with your dish. Outside of that, the portions are generous. Everything I've had at China Chili has been a hit. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

There aren't many places in Phoenix that serve duck this neatly like in my photo, and I appreciate that it's not another chain restaurant. It's been 9 months since my last order, and I decided to give this restaurant another chance…read more Unfortunately, this experience confirmed why I stopped coming in the first place. I spent over $50 on food, and the quality was extremely disappointing. The General Tso's chicken was basically nothing but breaded chicken pieces -- no vegetables and barely any sauce. The Orange Chicken was also dry and lacked sauce, making both dishes bland and unappetizing. To make matters worse, each entrée is supposed to come with rice, yet only a very small portion was provided. At this point, it feels like this restaurant is cutting corners and poorly managed. I'm generally not someone who leaves negative reviews, but the lack of care, consistency, and food quality is impossible to ignore. This was my last time giving this establishment my hard-earned money. I'd rather spend it somewhere that values its customers and takes pride in the food they serve.

It looks surprisingly small compared to how big the place is inside. The restaurant is decorated with lots of red, lanterns, and even a giant fortune cookie. The food is a mix of Chinese and Korean dishes, but it's definitely more Americanized Asian food. We ordered from their Lunch Combo Special. My friend got the Chili Garlic Fried Chicken and the Seafood Jjampong without shrimp because she's allergic to it. I got the Chili Garlic Shrimp with fried rice. When our server found out it was my friend's birthday, she told us we could choose a complimentary dessert from the menu, which was so nice! My friend picked the Glazed Sweet Potato with Lemon Sorbet. The lunch combos were huge. My friend was already so full after eating the jjampong that she had to take the chicken home. I really liked my shrimp and fried rice. They were so tasty that I finished everything! We also really enjoyed the Glazed Sweet Potato with Lemon Sorbet. The refreshing lemon sorbet paired perfectly with the sweet, warm glazed sweet potato. I try, I review, and I might come back again to try something else.

The water glasses looked like what you'd make a tequila sunrise in (tall & skinny). Obviously with ice that type of glass doesn't hold very much water. Gotta support local when you can I say! The menu is pretty basic and has all your typical options for Americanized Chinese food. Wanting to get something that had noodles in it, I opted for the combination #1 which has chow mein crispy noodles, pork fried rice, and two tempura shrimp. Quite a lot of food and for a very reasonable price! I think the combo was around $10. If you are a fan of bean sprouts, this is your place. The chow mein had a massive pile of beansprouts on top. The noodles were indeed crispy but they was such a meager portion compared to the beansprouts. The fried rice was pretty basic but also a generous portion and the two tempura shrimp had a nice crispy batter. I tried some of the eggroll too which is one of the most unique versions I've had since the super crispy outer layer was either a different preparation or different wrap material than I'm used to. The interior was made primarily of beansprouts too. Service was good. Our food was prepared fairly quickly.
