Something is wrong with the management of this company. The sales rep who evaluates the job talks in a language the client is not meant to understand, i.e., uses jargon of the trade. He is a "fast talker" who is arrogant and who has no concept of client/business relations. I am despondent at the lack of explanation expended by this person. As if I am expected to be cognizant of the "trade language" he uses -- he does so b/c when things go south, as they did in my case, he can tangle the client up in dissembling explanations that are designed to make the client look like an idiot. The job was scheduled for 5/22/17 at 9:00 am. After 10:00 came and went without anyone showing up, I called and emailed the owner. I did not hear from him at all. I heard instead, from this sales rep who told me his crew had other work to finish and would not be there until the next day. He forgot to call to tell me. He apologized. BIG DEAL!
Apologized? How do you forget to inform a client about a no-show? Is my time less valuable than his?
The crew (2-3 men off and on) worked very hard BUT...they only put in 3-5 hours per day!! If they arrived at 8:30 they were gone by noon! The latest they were there was 12:30 PM!! When I remarked about this during a difficult conversation with the sales rep regarding my concerns over the new texture not matching the old, he told me it was the first he'd heard of these erratic hours and he goes by what his crew tells him. I asked if it wasn't his job as a supervisor to see to it that crews did a full day's work within the parameters of the job's requirements, he told me I should have let him know!!! The man is a con artist plain and simple. He told me I was testy and disrespectful from the start. THIS, from a person who says "I'll be there within 20 minutes" and then doesn't show up for an HOUR AND 20 MINUTES. When I called him out on this, he laughed at me. But this morning, when I became so outraged about the fact that I would be stuck with 2 different textures in the pool deck, and one of his crew called him at my request, HE WAS HERE WITHIN 15 MINUTES!!
I could go on. I caution people not to use this company. The crews are wonderful people. The management, however, is a disaster and unless you are a contractor yourself who understands trade language and what EXACTLY NEEDS TO BE DONE, get yourself another company. Just to clarify my position...I was in business at a major television network in a senior management position for 37 years, having worked my way up from the secretarial ranks. I've worked with government, the public, interest groups, and other entities regarding social responsibility in business and a company's responsible behavior toward it's client(s).
THIS company could use a semester or two in a business school and the owner needs to be tutored regarding hiring a second-in-command who does not insult and/or con the client. read more
