Prior to getting our concrete patio extended, our yard was not level and had lots of tree roots from a camphor tree that was cut down. RB masonry knew how to make it level and removed a lot of tree roots for us. They were professional, on-time, and super patient with any questions I had. Their price was very fair for the amount of labor and material they used. They are licensed Masonries which was a must for us. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing masonry work done. So I walked up to him and my neighbors and asked him if he did masonry walls with gates. He hopped the short fence and offered me a quick estimate after I described what I was looking for. His estimate was better than I had received from other people so I decided to pursue it with him. I replaced a 26 year old redwood wall/gate with masonry similar to the common walls in my neighborhood. It was easy to show him examples next to my home. He works with another company for the gate (Miranda Ironworks). My pics don't show the gate since it hasn't been made yet. I liked his quote and decided to go forward. Three people showed up on the agreed start date - David, his dad and his uncle. Quite a family affair. I was impressed with how hard his dad and uncle worked in the heat (it was in the 90s the days they were working on my job). His dad has been doing this kind of work for over 40 years. They were meticulous. I monitored their progress regularly. It was fun to watch my crappy fence come down and the new one come alive. I will attach a few pics of the final work. I will also attach a timelapse I took while they did most of the block wall work. It's 52 seconds and shows how they work (after setting the footing the day prior). I also had them do a raised planter along my neighbor's wall (yes - my neighbor blessed this work before we started!) I'm very pleased with all the work. David's company was professional the entire time. It was a multi-day effort. They arrived when they said and didn't miss a planned day. This may sound small, but have you ever worked with a contractor that said they would be there to work and never showed or contacted to you let you know? I have! I was quite impressed with the Yelp reviews of Melo's Pools. I sent a quote request via Yelp and had a response within 10 minutes! Appointment was set for five days later. Albert and Pablo arrived to my home on time. They measured, took pictures and assessed the pool along with the pool pump system. We discussed ideas, timelines, finance options and they left me with a book that contained sample ideas. The following week I met both of them at their showroom to look at the actual tiles and find a match for the pebble. Albert and Pablo were great at making suggestions and giving me space without any pressures of making a decision, signing a contract, etc. A couple weeks later I signed contract and a demo date was set. The crew was on time the first day, and that stayed true until end of project. To no surprise there was a leak detected after opening up the plaster. Mauricio, the project manager, brought it to my attention immediately. He showed me the issue, explained what needed to be done, had a plan ready to go and with my sign off they had the issue fixed expeditiously and the project was kept on track. As a matter of fact, the project was completed a week earlier! Even my neighbors commented how quickly they worked and how great the pool turned out. From Day 1 to the end, the entire crew was respectful. Mauricio kept me updated on the progress of the project. Even after the project, Pablo and Mauricio came back (each separately) to ensure all was good.
