We just had our entire house tiled - over 1600 sq. ft. The salesman Brick allowed us to bring home a 24"x24" sample tile and he showed us nearly a dozen grout colors to make sure we were completely happy with our choices. The project started on the promised date. The project manager and foreman showed up on a regular basis to make sure the work was progressing on schedule and answer any questions we had. The installers showed up every day and on time. There were a couple hiccups but solutions were quickly found and resolved. We have done business with Flooring Innovations since moving to the desert in 2008. They have dressed all our floors. Recently, our beloved new puppy caused us to have to replace an area rug in part of our great room used for entertaining. I brought a sample tile in and Hugo and team helped suggest several popularly priced 9 x 12 area rugs and advised which options were most pet friendly. They gave me several good sized samples to take home and advised me to see the options in my own setting and at various lighting throughout the day. They allowed us several days with the samples. That helped us select the perfect option. They advised on their trusted delivery service who picked up, installed the new, and removed the old area rug. Fabulous experience! I was looking for modern-looking carpeting that could be made into an area rug for my dining area. My search began at Carpet Empire and they couldn't have been more unhelpful/uninterested; told me to go to Mathis Brothers (really? lost a customer, 1 star), so onto Flooring Innovations. That turned out to be the better choice. They had a great selection of carpeting, and all the designers were very nice. What an amazing experience, start to finish. Daniel was our sales rep and helped us all the way through the process, even helping when things got challenging (our fault) during installation. Everything from sales to scheduling to installation, was white-glove, and I really felt like the price was very reasonable. The challenge we had is that our floor (slab) was not level. It took a lot of work to get it just right, what would normally be a 2-day job turned into 4. But the installers stayed with us and never got impatient or lost their cool. They even went above and beyond after they got the floor leveled, they put nice felt pads on the chairs, and then swapped out the trim because they didn't like how it matched. The end result exceeded all my expectations. The floor material (I found out later) was top of the line, it lays perfectly, you can't see any flaws, and the trim looks gorgeous. I was extremely disappointed that my Mohawk carpet started to buckle within four years of purchase. I contacted Flooring innovations and someone came out to look at the carpet. The carpet was cleaned shortly before they came out, so the carpet had stretched. The representative said to call if it buckled again. It did. I pursued the issue again, but they said the warranty states you need proof of cleaning the carpet every 18 months. I was not aware of that warranty information. They offered to stretch it for $675. I declined paying the cost. I asked for a Pre-Installation checklist they said I signed which included the terms of the warranty. I have not heard any word back from them. read more

As an interior designer, I work with showrooms and manufacturers often. We recently chose Flooring Innovations for a remodel we were doing in La Quinta because we were impressed with the carpet selection in their showroom. Unfortunately, that was the only positive about our experience of working with them. They "forgot" to place our custom area rug orders, then placed the order incorrectly, forgetting one of the five rugs. When they finally arrived months later, the driver dropped them off at the residence bound in wire, which they left for us to find wire cutters to open, remove and dispose of the packaging. Then, they placed our carpet order incorrectly and only ordered half the order, so we had to order the rest from a different, newly dyed batch. These delays created frustration and pushed us past our deadline. But the worst part was the lack of customer service, follow-up and follow-through. I repeatedly emailed the store manager to speak with him about the issues we were having and he never even responded to me. This company really seems to be lacking in organization, proper training and good management. My client spent over 30K at their business and it was the worst transaction I have ever dealt with in my years of design work. read more

We bought installed carpeting from Flooring Innovations a couple of years ago and were happy with everything, recently the carpet in the bedroom wrinkled. I called them, explained the problem, and was told they would get back to me with an appoint,ent that day. Nothing. Three days later I called again and this time a manager answered. He seemed upset that I had not been called back and vowed to get back to me that day. Again, nothing. I called again after two days and left a message. I got a message back saying they were very busy with customers and would get back to me as soon as possible. One month later I paid someone else $150 to correct the problem. I contracted with Flooring Innovations to install luxury vinyl tile--total area was about 700 sq ft. I had such a bad experience with this company that I decided to leave this review. I usually cut small businesses a lot of slack, but this company doesn't deserve that. I won't do into all the details; let me just say that the Sales side of this business needs a lot of help. The actual installers were very good. But the sales room management messed up on my order and some materials were not available at the time of installation. This resulted in way too many phone calls with Sales about where these materials were and when my floor would be done so that we could bring our furniture in off our patio. The story I got from the Sales manager did not jive at all with the story I got from the Installation side of the business. Someone was in fantasyland. My job should have taken 3 days. I think it ended up being twice that. Lucky for me that this experience was unusual. I don't often run into this stratospheric level of incompetence. I would never use this company again and I encourage other people to look around for other options. If you do choose Floor Innovations, don't take anything for granted. Stay on top of every detail of the process until you see your new floor under your feet. read more

Several months ago, I was looking for ceramic tile to redo my entire public are of my home over 1500 sq ft. I decided to visit Flooring Innovations in Palm Desert. Upon entering the store, an energetic young man asked if he could assist me. His name was Dawson Baker. We immediately connected and I explained my situation. Dawson went to work to pull and locate samples that met my requirements. He provided me several samples to take home and test ti see if they souri work in my home. Dawson was never agressive in trying to push me to make a decision. He followed up to see if there was a match. We went back and forth several times. Dawson kept focused on my color and style requirements. He searched and searched until he felt that he had found the right tile. I took the sample home and it was the one. I went to share the news with Dawson. He was thrilled that we found the right tile. We decided on the 12 x 24 tiles. Dawson placed the order and told me about 2-3 weeks. After I placed the order, Dawson called to let me know the size of tile I wanted would be delayed. Dawson also knew that my installer could not wait months for the tile to come in. Dawson worked to provide an option of ordering the larger tiles that this company offered and could be delivered quickly. Dawson told me that he would honor my original price for the larger tile size. I was so thankful and the order was placed. Dawson said to be I believe you are going to be happier with the larger tile size. This past weekend, the tile installation was completed and I called Dawson to let him know and to thank him. Flooring Innovations is a first-rate operation. David Fleig is a real pro. The tile and carpet we got from them was installed by master craftsmen. Everything they told us about the installation came to pass perfectly and timely. Communication was good and each time I called, they responded. Now for the no-fault bad part. It was a dirty, dusty, messy month of October. The tile was a two-week job; carpet 24-hour. Demo was a few days. Our Italian tile was held up for one week at the port of Long Beach due to customs inspectors and we used that time to paint and clean. I was warned by David F. of all this and more & I appreciated his tactful truthfulness. I only had a couple meltdowns, one at the beginning, one at the end; again, not the fault of Flooring Innovations. We will use them for our phase 2 project next time. read more

We hired this company to install flooring in November. Originally the estimator that wrote up the bid, included a $50 charge for moving a mini refrigerator. Really...$50 to remove and replace a mini refrigerator? We just moved it ourselves. I marked it off the second invoice sent, but the company had already charged the original amount. I have requested the $50 refund for two months. Just got an email today saying no refund would be forthcoming. I would never work with this company again and over $50. Too many ethical companies here to work with. Being a business person myself, I think long and hard before giving a bad review, but I know I appreciate hearing the truth when I am hiring a vendor. I was given Flooring Innovations contact information from our realtor, as we had just purchased a condo in Palm Springs. Upon contacting Daniel at the Palm Dessert location, I was assisted with options etc. to get us to the desired look for a new floor and for two fireplace walls. The quote was handled professionally and they even came out to measure on a weekend day while I was in town inspecting the condo prior to close. By sheer luck, the crew was able to start demolition and installation the week after we closed, and got the job done quickly! And the entire process was essentially handled remotely - I was able to see options, look over plans, etc. and wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again. Too many ethical issues with Flooring Innovations. After the initial estimate, they had my deposit and the prices kept on changing. There are a bunch of hidden costs and their paperwork that the customer signs each time there is a change authorizes them to charge the customer more. They try to confuse the customer and have toxic attitudes. They kept on blaming their supplier for several price changes and delays in getting the product. It took almost 6 months to get the product but I paid dearly for it. Flooring Innovations is double the price, if not more, than their competitors for the same product. Tried speaking with the owner but he never called back. Do not hire this company. Unethical behavior. I should have done my due diligence and read their reviews before engaging in business with them. Both are highly trained in their specialty and were very helpful in helping us make the best choices in our remodeling. I was amazed how quickly the crews worked and the care they took to lay down plastic before starting work. Very friendly and very careful and they explained everything as they worked. Bill showed up numerous times to be sure his crews were doing everything correctly. And after the work was completed he came back several times to make sure all the minor details were taken care of. I recently purchased a condominium that had been completely remodeled 6 years ago and was in beautiful condition; granite countertops, new cabinetry, tiled showers, tiled patio which the owners had expanded to a much larger patio, white plantation shutters throughout, etc. The floors were also tiled with the exception of the 2 bedrooms. Having a small dog that occasionally has "accidents" I decided that the two rooms had to be tiled as well; with the end product being a condominium which was tiled throughout. I decided on Flooring Innovations as the company had a good reputation and I trusted them to do the work properly and in a professional manner. I first met with Stephanie, a Flooring Specialist, who assisted me with "matching" the tile for the bedrooms to that of the rest of the condo. Working strictly off pictures, she was able to find a ceramic tile which, for all intents and purposes, was as close a match as I could ever hope to find. We then decided on a "transition" area between where the existing tile meets up with the new tile. The transition we used was similar to that of a backsplash in a kitchen; essentially made up of many smaller tiles of different colors and textures. She narrowed the choices down to two which she felt best complimented the entire project. I chose the one I preferred and Stephanie then went about ordering the tile after measurements had been taken. It was no longer than a week or so and we were ready to set an installation date. The project took 2.5 days to complete. All of the employees were very punctual and polite. They definitely took pride in their work and I'm very happy with the overall results. I didn't give the company 5 stars as there were a few areas where the tile was cut in an uneven manner; something that only I would notice but nevertheless should have been cut correctly. Also, the transition tiles could have been laid more evenly and level in my opinion. I do realize that tile is not a precise art and one must expect some level of inconsistency. I'd definitely recommend Flooring Innovations and in particular Stephanie in the Palm Desert showroom. She's pretty incredible. Six years after having the initial tile laid, which is no longer manufactured by the way, she was able to find an almost identical tile. And this was based solely off a picture. She did make an appointment to drop by just to make sure it matched as she envisioned. And last, but not least, the pricing is somewhat higher than what you may be able to find elsewhere. However, for me that was offset by the confidence I had in Flooring Innovations to do the job right. read more

The wait didn't bother us, what really bothered us was they want material cost up front, ok not a problem but then they called wanted the rest of the money and the material hadn't even been delivered to my house yet? What? Do you pay your mechanic before he has fixed your car? That's how they work ALL $$$$ is before install. We balked so they allowed us to hold out 10% about $600 from what was due. This is definitely a place you want to stay far, far away from!! We met with a designer/sales consultant for closet design and new flooring. They came to our house and did the measurements (for which we paid $225). This was to be applied to the job when they started the work. They gave us a verbal estimate which we asked for in writing. The written estimate was twice what we were told. Obviously we weren't going to work with them so I asked for the measurements we had paid for. They refused saying the information was "proprietary"! Our credit card company is withholding payment, but this is no way to do business. Creepy, nasty place. read more

They were pleasant enough when we bought the carpet. After 3 years we are not satisfied with the installation as its fraying along the threshold and buckling in about 5 places. After calling three times someone finally came to the house weeks later to look at it and his suggestion was I get the carpet cleaned and it will go back to normal. He cleaned up the fraying parts himself but then it started to fray again 2 weeks later. Not satisfied with the way this was handled after spending $4000 on a bedroom carpet we have decided to get it replaced and won't be going back to FI. read more

I called flooring innovations to replace some broken tiles in my home and replace the carpet in my office. I spoke to the sales lady on the phone, Stephanie, and we decided to send out a estimator, have a cost off $75, to give me an estimate. Stephanie said that she would send out the samples, with the estimator, that we had discussed on the phone so that I could make a decision on the carpet. Estimator arrived without the samples and suggested that I go down to the store to look at them. The estimator confirm the measurements and While we were discussing options a query came up about joins in the carpet as well as the under carpet padding and tack strip. The estimator said he couldn't give me a bid on that because he couldn't see it and didn't know. We proceeded to cut the carpet so we could look at the joins and the carpet padding. He said that I needed new padding and we agreed on where the join would be made. At this point the padding and the carpet tack was exposed. On the completion of the job I received a email stating that there was an additional cost of $120 approximately 10% of the whole project that needed to be charged because they needed to put tack strip in. I'm calling Stephanie in discussing this she said that because the estimated couldn't see the tack strip and because of all the documents I had signed agreeing to hidden costs that I would need to pay this amount. I stated that I'd actually exposed the tack strip the carpet padding in the joints to the estimator by cutting the carpet and he should've told me then if i needed a new tack strip or not. Stephanie said she would call the estimator and check with that yet seen the tack strip. I didn't get a callback from Stephanie rather than email saying that I needed to pay $120 for the tack strip. Watch out for hidden costs and the documentation that you have to sign stating that Flooring Innovations has the right to add these costs. In other words every estimate that Flooring Innovations gives out is an open estimate and they can add to it at any time!! Do not use this company!!!! read more
