So I like shopping here because I can find really good deals. The prices are nice and as long as I am not really dealing with any of the cranky managers, I'm happy. I did have one time I went in there and this is why I'm deducting a single star. I asked them if there was any way they could lower the price of a Montana bag that was marked at retail price on Amazon. He said that he could not, and that the prices are set in stone once they go out and that they would have to pull it back and give a note saying that it is overpriced. That did make me laugh. On the other hand, I have found wonderful deals. I got my husband an Apple Watch there for only $45 wowser that was good. Then because I have noticed that a lot of of the petite outfits for girls who are small with big chest, which would be me. You can find some really pretty outfits that don't look like Mormon clothes. I can actually say that they push you to change your wardrobe when you're part of the church. That's a positive for me because I want don't care if someone dislikes the way I dress and two they have really good brands for reasonable prices. I really hope they stay reasonable because they have so many clothes to look through that if they up their prices, it's just going to make it to where people are going to stop shopping there. I went there determine to find new clothes for my changing body because I went from a size 16. I was a big girl too a size 4 and I needed new clothes. I got myself a whole new wardrobe dresses skirts shirt, shirts, tank tops vest and even some new workout clothes for about $95 which when I say I got a lot of clothes, I got a lot of clothes not all in the same time but I kept receipts. I added up and I spent $95 on clothes. Now on my children's book collection two dollars for heart covers and one dollar for soft covers. You can't beat that. Now, for the people who work there, I feel really bad for them because many of them can't speak English or handicap or speak very little English, and also not always all there in the head. I have noticed going in there very often in the morning that the blue aprons are treated like trash by the managers. Yes I have gone there so often that I have noticed a routine. If you're looking to work there, please please remember that you are a human and you deserve to be treated with respect. For this being run by a church, I know that they treat people wrong and it's sad. read more

The only reason I have to change the stars is because for some crazy reason, the books have been changed to a color coding system and it sucks. Now granted it's aesthetically pleasing, yes. But if you are trying to look for a book, no bueno. I was only over there for a few minutes when I got a headache trying to look through the color ordered books. Please put the books back. We don't want them to be color coded. They aren't clothes. There were several other women in the books section with me that also complained about the books . So we kind of just complained about it together while attempting to browse. It was very hard so I ended up just going over to the cart to look at books. read more

A wide variety of clothing and other gear, similar to our last visit, and the quality of their merchandise has gone up. You'll still need to examine things for defects. I found a Ricola cough drop in a jacket I purchased. Shoes, although plentiful, aren't sorted by size very well. Some great stuff, but tough to sort through. There is some total junk, but far more decent stuff. I even bought a hat. I like this place; the personnel seem happy and engaged. read more

Thriftapaluza!!! This business is so well organized. Clothes are all color coordinated. Isles and shelves are clean and tidy. The prices were great! The employees were so nice. Just when you think the room is big enough there is a door to another huge room. Wow! The parking lot is huge so parking is not a problem. There are shopping carts, clean restrooms, and changing rooms. We found a book case and they have you drive to the backside of the building to pick it up. Cashier was helpful and friendly. read more

I was not expecting what organization and cleanliness this second hand store had to offer. From the moment I walked in and saw very well labeled and color coded clothes racks I was taken aback. Definitely not like another place that shall not be named with the big G. The woman working the front counter was very friendly and greeted us right away with a huge smile. We were able to find quite a few things quickly. There were many other employees bringing things out and putting them on shelves etc and not one said hello or anything. That is always a stickler for me. At least acknowledge someone. They have try on rooms of ptu want to purchase clothes, dishes and all that jazz you expect. There was even a back room with patio furniture etc, but I didn't have a chance to really check it out. Prices were awesome as well. Went to the one on Bell Rd for the first and last time. I had gathered a lot of items and noticed that I had the same book with 2 different prices. The young lady at the register was confused but her Manager natalie was at the registered next to hers. I showed natalie the 2 books and her tone and rudiest threw me all the way off. While telling me the customer that she was not going to honor the price for both items and that Im getting a good deal because the item is suppose to be the other price and she's not giving it to me for the cheaper price. natalie then snatched the books off the counter and threw them under the register. natalie is a bad explain as to who should be Managers. natalie has a very nasty attitude and if the old me would have been the person that showed up she would need a face replacement. I told my husband leave all that s**t right there and let's go. natalie acts as if she owns the store and the items are not donation. Remember natalie if you decide to shop there she thinks she owns the place. Worst customer service ever and didn't even care that she was looking crazy in front or the customers. This store is amazing. Not only are prices cheaper than Goodwill, but the store is a lot more cleaner and nicer than Goodwill. I would go on to say that this store is the best thrift store in the valley and I've been to many. I believe they also have a location in Mesa. Also, the store manager told me that the proceeds go to educational programs and job training programs for people that come from difficult circumstances. The website states, "The proceeds from your purchases today will go towards job training and education for those right in your own community, as well as local and international humanitarian efforts." I highly recommend taking a look. I came in the evening on a weekday and there was no line for the changing rooms, actually it wasn't busy at all. Never ever compare Deseret Industries to GoodWill. Yes, both are thrift stores but DI is so much nicer, cleaner, cheaper & helpful. You can try clothes on, which you can't at GoodWill anymore. You can return with in 7 days but if you can try on things shouldn't have to return! The store covers all bases of life style. From A- Z. As someone who worked there for almost 3 years, don't shop at this place. By shopping at this DI, you are supporting a really bad and incompetent management and supervisor team (most of the blue-aprons), including an unethical armchair therapist who promotes an unsafe, toxic working environment, plays favorites, is unusually tolerant towards sexual harassment and bullying (they let that happen for almost 5 months), and does not care about their employees or their well-being. With that said, not all of them were bad and a couple of them were actually good people who actually tried to help us red-aprons find better jobs and succeed. And I met good people, learned, and had some good times too. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives. I don't know how effective my review will be and there's a lot of stuff I can say and I was definitely not the only person they treated like garbage and disregarded, but remember what I said if you decide to go shopping here. It's a real pity too. This place can do a LOT of good and many of the red-aprons who work there need help. Maybe if things change and people are held accountable, I would recommend it. read more

Very clean, spacious, and organized. My cashier, Mr. Allen, was funny and kind. This was my first visit and I came with items to donate. The gentleman who took the items seemed irritated by the fact that I hadn't dropped them off in the donation area (that I didn't know existed). He let me know where the area was, took the box and walked away without a Thank You or asking if I wanted a receipt. I made sure the box wasn't heavy and would have been happy to take it to the donation center myself. Perhaps I'd caught him at an inconvenient time. Always a good time!!! Deseret is clean and unlike Goodwill, they do not price gouge here!! The clothing area is set up in more of a boutique style, while the hard goods are kinda just piled high on shelves. If you don't mind digging a little, there are some true gems to be found at great prices. The store is also logically organized so you save time and can venture to the section of your choice if you're on the hunt for something specific. I donate my used stuff here. Just pull up to the back and some young dude will unload it from your car. Closed on Sundays. The prices are pretty cheap here. Although, there usually seems to be a swarm of regulars that start grabbing everything when they bring out a new cart of used stuff. Maybe they are dealers or hoarders? Best thrift store ever. I have found so many treasures. It is so clean and organized. My granddaughter loves going with me and is always to find something she loves. I noticed one day that all of her favorite toys came from Desert Industries. Also the rest rooms are always clean. They have a station where you can plug electrical things in to make sure they work. I love too that they give back to the community and offer job training . This is my go to for donations. The lowest prices around. I noticed one review said you could not try clothes on. This is a well organized and clean store. I also frequent Goodwill and Savers but this is my favorite. It is tidy and you won't find broken glass and junk on the floors like at other thrift stores. I'm knocking a star for employees constantly staring/watching me. I'm just a typical mom, nothing fancy. There's nothing about my behavior that could remotely be taken as suspicious behavior.
