The tour was the perfect length (60 min). Our tour guide was exceptional, she was informative and entertaining. The tastings were great and a generous serving size. I would highly recommend taking this tour if you're in the area. Go online and make your reservation. And for planning purposes, they have a couple of food trucks in their parking lot for a lil snack before or after the tour and there is a bar area set up to have a beer, do a little shopping, and play cards to wait.

Real comfortable tasting room with numerous choices of beers from the Deschutes Brewery. Service is spot on and they are willing to help you make a decision based on your tastes. If you want to take a tour of the brewery, just sign up, it's free. I've taken it before on more than one occasion and it's pretty darn informative and interesting. There are two food carts outside featuring a Vietnamese food and smash burgers, both of which appear to be very popular right now. Cheers!

Wow! I gotta confess, as much as I love Deschutes beer, I wasn't really expecting much from the tour because I generally have a "been on one brewery tour, been on them all" attitude. Basically, I was just there for the complimentary can of beer that tour-goers receive. Well, folks, I was wrong! This tour and experience was fantastic all around. From our fabulous tour guide, to a well-organized look inside the inner workings of an iconic PNW brewery, to learning about (and viewing the originals of) some of their legendary beer labels, this tour was 5 stars all around. We started by needing to make a reservation in advance. It's $10/person, which is the first time I've actually paid for a brewery tour. We gathered in their tiny tasting room awaiting the start of the tour, and were then each handed our free beer to carry around on the tour. We started with a brief history of the brewery (and getting to see one of their first brewhouses, where og Deschutes brewing staff lugged HEAVY bags of ingredients up a steep, circular staircase), then wandered through the newer/larger brewery that produces all the favorites (Deschutes Black Butte Porter, I'm looking at you). We saw the very scientific-looking beer tasting area, the giant tanks and hoppers where the beer is created, and even their huge bottling operation (which, sadly for us, was not in operation on this particular Friday because it would have been SUPER cool to see in action). Near the end of the tour, we entered the Deschutes HQ offices and got to see years worth of original artist drawings for their annually-released Jubelale. It was so interesting to hear the stories of how, originally, they commissioned only local artists, then moved on to Oregon artists, and recently opened up the competition to artists across the US. Our tour guide was engaging, informative, and funny. I believe his name was Cayden or Caleb - I am SO horrible with names. Please forgive me. But give this dude a raise (or at least tip him which very few on our tour did). This is a tour I would happily do again!

Deschutes has a nice space with an ample Menu of beers and cider on tap. A nice property with room Outside and inside. They have TV for watching games. I'm not a beer fan and was able to find some ciders to drink.

Trying to decide which one to choose for the tour - the brewery tour price includes one can of beer

The tour is so educational and we got to sample some. We only got the general brewery tour. I think because we got the tour on the weekend so we could not see bottling process in action. They have a room/lab for research and development. I also found out that they had some of R&D beers available at the tasting room in the same building.

If you're visiting Bend, one of the greatest beer cities in the world, you have to visit Deschutes Brewery. A classic and still excellent brewery, the original location is now the Public House - a restaurant and beer bar. This location is the new larger brewery itself, complete with Tasting Room and merchandise store. We arrived late in the morning and opted to take the tour: $10 includes the tour, a beer of your choice, a koozie for the beer, and tour sticker; each thing is exclusive to this location. The tour itself is really worthwhile, even if you've done dozens of other brewery tours, namely to see their intricate canning line and all the artwork from past labels including the originals of each year of Jubelale. The tasting room itself is popular with visitors and locals alike. It's worth a stop even if you aren't taking the tour as they offer exclusive small batch beers on tap and no where else in the world, even their other locations. They have a fully stocked fridge of fresh cans as well. The vintage bottle selection is also fully stocked and cheap with most coming in at $15, well below bottle shop prices if you can even find them. Merchandise is everywhere: hats, shirts, sweatshirts, beer stuff, even three packs of specially selected bottles. This is an awesome place to come. The desk agent, tour guide, and bartender were all super friendly and knowledgeable about the place, and funny. Parking is free and right outside. I was also told the burger and Vietnamese food trucks offer incredible food but both were closed that day. We had some snacks like soft pretzels before our tour, then more drinks after. For any beer fan, this is a must visit stop in Bend.

Fantastic experience! Definitely would recommend going on the tour. Lots of great information if you're new to the brewing scene and lots of detailed information if you're a beer geek like myself.

Nice folx, good beer, good seating options. Reserve & bottle pours are options for a flight so try everything!

First night in Bend (this time) and decided to hit the Deschutes Tasting Room. My Gluten Free wife was excited to try their in-house GF beer and I am all about the IPAs. Nice location. A bit tucked in off the road, but easy to get into and find parking. There are a few good carts in the lot. Good inside is limited (pizza, pretzels, bar snack mix). I was very pleased to find a lot of IPAs to choose from (many I've had before) and settled in a "pub exclusive" Steele IPA. My wife was disappointed to learn their GF was blown out and the ciders were not available. Bummer for her. Still? A cool place. Very laid back vibe. Music playing in the background and LOTS of company beer and souvenirs to peruse and buy.

The food and beer here are excellent. I got the double smash burger and the garlic aioli on it was incredible. I got a flight to accompany the meal and I enjoyed every one of the brews. I did think it was annoying that I had to order food through a QR code and then have to go inside to order beer separately when sitting outside.

What's better than getting beer from the source? Not much? The staff is friendly and the location contains some of their rarer beers like a 2011 The Abyss. Sample severa reserve beers or even everyday beers. You won't be able to get some of the stuff here in their Portland tasting rooms. Prices are cheaper than most tasting rooms at $4 for typical 12 oz pours and $7 for pilots and $7.50 for reserves and $6 for sours.

During my Oregon travels, this was one of my musts. I realize that they have other locations, but this is THE Deschutes Brewery tasting room in Deschutes. All of their brews on the menu were available for tasting, even their reserve series. So, aside from their porters and stouts, I had to try all of the reserve series. Mistake. Their sample trays are 4oz pours at $2.50 per pour, but keep the ABV in mind, especially when dealing with the reserve series; it starts at 8.1% and goes up to 10.7%. By the time I was done with my 6 pours, I was getting tipsy. My favorite goes to the Nitro Obsidian Stout, so creamy. The whisky butte porter came in a close second (I ended up with a 4 pack to go). Not usually a fan of the fruity brews, but the cherries jubelae was a surprising winner as well; it wasn't too fruit forward. As for the others on the reserve series, the fresh squeezed old fashioned was good, but I just couldn't handle the sourness of the dissident peach; perhaps I could have tolerated it better if it was summer weather? Doubtful. Lesson learned; venture into the unknown and try almost everything once, but don't be surprised if you don't like it. Smaller than anticipated indoor area, but it made for a more intimate experience with an attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff. There's also a nice outdoor area with a bicycle repair area. No tours at the moment due to COVID and no food available when I visited. Thanks y'all for a wonderful visit.

Are kids allowed on the tour?

Hi Shannon! Thanks for your question. Yes, kids are allowed on our public tours--they can enjoy a can of soda while they explore our brewery. Specialty tours (of the Barrel Warehouse and Pilot Brewhouse) are 21+ adventures. Cheers! -The Tours Team

    Is the garlic burger avsilable?

The tasting room doesn't have a restaurant so there isn't any food available. I believe you may be thinking of the Deschutes Brewery Public House, which is a pub with food.

So on our last trip to Bend we finally made it here to the their taproom and it didn't disappoint at all. It was a great stop! We got a taster set of a variety of different beers that they had on tap and they were all quite good. Many of them have a wild ale aspect to them which I can appreciate at you don't come across this beer too much on a routine basis. The taproom is cool and I love all of their art specifically where fermentation liquids spilled onto a sheet or a cloth making various designs and hues during the brewing making process of their beers. Other excellent beers that we have had from this brewery are the Samalie which is a Wild Ale. This one I rated very highly on Untappd because it was so amazing! Things to look for in the flavor profile are sourness, tartness, fruitiness, a natural sweetness and a dry finish. Really an excellent beer! Moving on from that we had the great Ping Pong Table Beer. This was another beer I rated quite highly and enjoyed immensely. This beer is light bodies, smooth and effervescent with the flavor of elderflower at work. Another excellent beer! Definitely great beer experiences with this brewery and definitely recommend it to the more adventurous beer drinking folks.
