I ordered food, but you didn't start the order until I arrived, as evidenced by asking me when I arrived what my order was. 2. You told me you'd give me some yogurt for the side, but didn't. 3. The buffet smelled a bit rotten , but i dismissed it and took it home ..started to eat it a took a bit of a piece of goat that smelled rotten and tasted rotten. I threw up .. Old food with questionable practices. I ordered aloo palak (spinach with potatoes) to-go from here the other day. It had a massive layer of a dark oil on it similar to what you would see in nihari where it would be normal but not for aloo palak. But as I was eating, I was confused to find a single piece of meat (I think it was goat) and a piece of paneer in the palak along with the potatoes. I can understand if the restaurant has one source of cooked palak to which they'll add whatever add-in that is requested, potatoes, meat, or paneer. But finding these randoms things makes me wonder if they just dump the old orders/leftovers back into that source of palak. If so, that is horrifying and explains the extremely old taste. Not to mention, I was up all night from stomach/chest pain. I eat Pakistani/Indian food regularly and this experience was extremely disappointing . Never ordering from here again. read more

The food rated more of a 3 stars but I'll explain why I rated lower. This was my first time coming here. It was fairly clean and they had a buffet set up. By the counter they also had trays. I wanted to try more than one dish and the young man behind the counter said they sell as single orders only. I picked the goat curry and the bindhi with red pepper. He asks me if I want it in one container and without thinking I said yes. He starts packing it up by stuffing the container 3/4ths full of rice and then half and half with the dishes I'd picked. I realized that I was then being charged for two full orders but getting one order of rice with half portions of my two entrees. With the gulab jamun I ordered it came to around $19. Then when I give him my card he mumbles something about it being $20 something with card. Okayyyy. I know it's my own fault that he managed to charge me for more than I was provided but I'm still cheesed it happened. As for the food, the rice was fine, the okra was a little oily and some pieces were tough, but overall was pretty good. The goat curry was pretty good, the spiced gravy was nice and the meat was soft. Gulab jamun has a very oily aftertaste and the syrup is very bland, no taste of spice. There is a younger woman there who is rude to me every-time I come there. Keep in mind, I have been going there for years prior to her stepping in and ruining the business's name. This restaurant is rather non-descript. They have a lunch buffet. I didn't not have the buffet but it looked fresh and tasty.. I order the Chicken Tikka Maasala and the Naan. The Naan is the size of a small country. That's what's up. The chicken was very tasty. And I was satisfied with the quality of the meat, the spices and the overall richness of the creamy tomato based sauce. I'd return. Not bad for Rockland County. read more

The man who worked the counter was not the warmest of fellows. No smiles, just poker face. Anyways, there was a buffet of food and also prepared food behind the counter. It wasn't a picture of cleanliness but wasn't bad either. In total I paid $20 for chicken tikka masala, a garlic naan, 4 vegetable samosas and rice. When I brought it home everything looked tasted and smelled amazing apart from the rice. I don't know what it was but the smell of it was so off putting I had to throw it away. Everything else tastes great though. Somosas were moist and flavorful and the chicken tikka was also very good. Very creamy and great flavor. This is such a horrible place I wish I could give it one start. I usually don't leave reviews but this was so bad that I had too. I food is horrible the garlic nann was gross. The thing that made me so mad is that I ordered curry goat and they gave me 4 small pieces of goat in sauce with no rice for 9.99 . It is such a ripoff when I said something the lady in the front desk was so rude. A lady from the back came out and said that we are all struggling now so the price has gone up. Do not judge a book by its cover! This place is in a dingy shopping mall across the street from a mobile gas station. The storefront is rather unassuming, and when you walk in, it looks like the type of place you'd walk right out of...DON'T! I ordered the lunch buffet and it was delicious. Definitely in the top 2 of Indian restaurants I have been to. The selection was never-ending, and the flavor was simply authentic. The only thing I found lacking was that their vegetarian selection was minimal. I enjoy meat, but the reason why I Iove Indian food so much is the vegetarian options. I recall their being about 12 selections, 7-8 of which were meat. All good, but I was hoping for some saag or something. The buffet was $10, an excellent price, especially with the meat options. Everything is moist, fresh, tender and tasty. The buffet had about ten different dishes for ten dollars. You can't beat that and it was all delicious. It's hard to find a fresh curry spot. The only problem with the place, which is not even a real problem, is that it is not inviting. You would never try this place if you were just looking from the outside. It looks shotty and sketchy from the outside. They need to update their store front and write some English on the window to invite some Americans in lol. Really upsetting what this place has turned out to be. Food was always great but recently has gone down hill. We had the buffet which was great but when served the chicken tikka masala, it was ice cold. We asked them to heat it up but the liquid curry was warm, the chicken still cold. The mango lassi was extremely watered down and sour. I expected better from here. The price didn't match what they had displayed and somehow the tax was above 12% which is extremely suspicious. Another bad experience for me at Dera so I figured I'd make another post and review. I found a tooth in my food. I'm not kidding. I went to the manager to show him and he pretended he didn't speak English. It was tiny but it definitely was at least a piece of a tooth. I could tell by the ridges. Dera is the other route 59 Indo/Pak homemade grub joint! Authentic and good! Some of the stuff is better here and some is better at Haandi Roti. Either way you cannot go wrong . We got there to find the buffet food sitting there still from lunch and a limited number of dishes behind the glass already prepared. The person behind the glass enclosed counter could not speak English or understand our question when we tried to order off the menu posted on the wall. He indicated with a sweep of his hand the only food available were those dishes in front of him behind the glass. It was clear this place was not Indian but Pakistani/halal. super nice people, always accommodating. a huge take out container is only $10. however, it's a hit and miss regarding what they have available and the chicken is either quite dry or the goat is just all bone. the mango lassi and their hefty garlic naan is great. their sauces are delicious to dip that naan in. as for online ordering - you're best just going in to see what they've freshly created. they're usually out of things in the buffet by lunch. read more

They have very good food for affordable price, very friendly staff, always willing to accomodate you if you have any needs or questions. I have still not been to a place that has better Samosas than them and they are only a dollar per and big. Their chicken and lamb with rice is excellent. The meat is very tender and juicy. The restaurant itself is not the most appealing but the food makes up for it. The hole in a wall restaurants are always the best ones anyways. First visit to the place boils down to a depressing experience. Ordered a couple of goat biryani and tandoori leg to go and waited. Kept waiting for 45 minutes and no one seemed bothered to notice the delay. After reminding, I was told to wait for another 15 mins. I told that I cant wait and then I was offered chicken biryani which was instantly available to go an hour earlier. This the most unfriendly place I have been to. No greetings nothing. Food was OK. No deserts there with buffet. I asked for tea which took 15 min to come and he handed me cold tea with out sugar. I left tea at the counter and the guy did not even bother to return my tea money. I paid $45 for a very poor quality food and poor service.
