I came here with my friends looking for some fresh bread, the kind of baked deliciousness that you can find around this area where everything is natural and exquisite. At first we were not surprised by their offering; regular commercial labels in the shelves. But they insisted that we tried their homemade cinnamon bread, which at that point was not in our shopping list. We saw one over the counter and touched it just like curious shoppers and...voilà, magic happened on us! From that moment on, we felt something like a huge attraction to that piece of bread and carried it out. Once we got on the car, we had each a slice of that bread and our lives were transformed forever. We had one orgasm after the other with every bite, and we couldn't believe what we were eating was sooooooooo good. It's warm, sticky, chewy, sweet, indulgent and many more good things. So I say, go to Depot Deli if you're visiting Ancram or Copake and stock yourself with this bread for a few days. Cute place covered in murals of local attractions like Bash Bish Falls and the Iron Works. They seem to have a good selection of items. We stopped for ice cream after a long hike. The Mississippi Mud ice cream was so good and had brownie bits in it. The folks were friendly, very laid back... maybe too laid back? The only drawback was they made us wait outside for our ice cream where they hand you your ice cream through a little window. Scooping the ice cream took a long time and we got completely eaten up by mosquitoes while we were waiting. They should have said: we need to hand you your ice cream through the window for health reasons but stay inside until we scoop it and make the milkshakes cause it might take a while. read more

I stopped here on my way back from Bash Bish falls yesterday. The seating and artistic walls on the outside caught my eye. I parked across the street and walked over the crosswalk. It's not huge inside but it's packed to the gills with everything you might need for camping and I mean EVERYTHING!! Bug spray, blow up mattress, sleeping bags, a zillion different kinds of popcorn, craft beer selection is amazing and tons of old time cream sodas in the bottle. Freezer section with ice cream, pizza, wings etc. They have a small menu of deli items too. I got "The Ticket". She asked "bun, wrap or roll?" I choose the roll. It was deli turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato, cheese and bacon. It was pretty good although I'm always a little bit disappointed when it's not real turkey. I saw that someone else wrote that they had free wifi. I tried to connect when I was there there as my phone had zero service in the area but you must need to ask them for a password as I couldn't automatically connect. This time was very different. i walked in this time and the workers were struggling with my order which is totally fine but once they messed up i asked for it to be fixed . When i told them the order was messed up they got all defensive and started being rude. i understand messing up an order but you need to be able to fix it if you cause the mistake. read more

Stopped in while my boyfriend and I were camping across the street last week. They had already sold out of the cinnamon bread that I read so many great reviews about so we were a little bummed but were informed that more was being made and would be ready a little later in the day. The staff was super helpful and friendly that we had no problem coming back later. That bread was absolutely worth the wait. If you are fortunate enough like us to get it right out of the oven it's truly amazing. The last few piece were however quite tasty reheated the next morning over our campfire for breakfast as well. The store itself is like a little grocery store with everything you could possibly need for camping adventures. My boyfriend and I visited Hudson for the weekend and made a trip to Bish Bash falls, 30 minutes outside of Hudson. On our way back to we stopped in to Depot Deli for a cold beer and snack. The owner greeted us upon entry and was super friendly helping us pick out The best Coastal Maine popcorn flavor. The deli is equipped with a nice selection of beer and snacks and the service was excellent. If you are in the area I highly suggest dropping in and sharing a beer and/or snack on the patio. Just came back from a great camping weekend with friends at copake falls. Stopped at Depot Deli, which is conveniently right across the street. Great place to pick up snack items and a quick and inexpensive lunch. But the real hidden gem of this place, aside from the wonderfully hospitable employees, is the delicious cinnamon pull apart bread. It was sitting in a case with a note in front of it "this is what God eats for breakfast." Naturally this peaked my interest. So I purchased a whole loaf ($5) to see if this stuff is as good as advertised. I was not disappointed. This bread is incredibly soft, moist and delicious. I could've easily had several loaves in one sitting. Shared it with my friends and we were all raving about it. Amazing. This is quite possibly the best deli the world! They literally have EVERYTHING a camper could want or need, and located in a super convenient location! We made about 4 trips in here in one day (don't judge!). "Let's buy more water! Oh, now we need some firewood! Oh, let's get some ice cream now!" We just kept looking for excuses to go back. THIS SPOT IS A MUST!!!!! This little corner deli made our whole day today. We had such a blast driving back to CT from camping in New York and wanted some lunch and to get a walk in. We walked bash bish to see the waterfall and stopped into depot deli. The cutest place ever and the sandwich/wrap we had was AMAZING. This place is an absolute gem. The man at the front of the store (didn't get his name sadly) was so kind.... and an additional perk was cute little shadow barking to say hello. I can't wait to come back. I love camping @ Copake Falls. Quit, laid back and such a nice town in Copake. A bikers paradise in the Harlem trail and it starts at this WONDERFUL Deli. The people are great and known for their "Sin-a-bomb" (cinnamon) loaf bread. It is delicious. It'l be very good if you can get it fresh when they make it in the morning. Although you get what you get sometimes but if you are camping or staying in the cottages. These people are possibly the worst I've ever dealt with, and I live in New York City. Some friends and I stopped in for sandwiches here on our way home after a weekend in the country. We were greeted with snarls, eye rolling, forgotten orders (which happens, no big deal), and a menu that seriously misrepresents the food that comes out of the kitchen. After I spoke to the woman about our missing order, she sucked her teeth and looked at me as though I insulted a dead relative. Then we overheard them in the kitchen calling us "assholes." The sandwiches, while they sound great on the menu, are actually pretty bad; dry, mealy tomatoes, soggy greens, a measly squirt of oil and vinegar right on the bread (seriously, who does that?). We would have been better off rubbing gravel into our hair for lunch. On our way out I approached the wretch behind the counter to complain about the lousy service, to which she walked away from me mid-sentence. Then, a possibly even more haggard, unfortunate woman appeared from the back but would not come to the front to speak to me. She stood there and blurted, "I put gravy on your sandwich!" I told her that I overheard her comments about us. Then, with the emotional bearing of a baboon, she shouted at us to get out, proudly announcing her name as we left so that I could include it in my review. Melissa, I think it was. So, if you're ever hungry and find yourself in the Copake area, do yourself a favor and head up the road to McEnroe Farm. The food is much better, the view is beautiful and it's not run by raving 4 year olds. If that's too far, even a Twinkie from the nearest gas station would be a better option. read more

Lots of 5-star reviews here but I try to save 5 stars for special occasions. That said, this place is really interesting for what it is. This is a deli (sort of) that sits right across the street from the entrance to the Copake Falls Campsite that I went to. They sell wood which is more convenient to get elsewhere (but they give free paper and cardboard which is so nice), single beer bottles of many different options which I'm a fan of, and deli goods consisting of all different foods, a salad bar that I think should be moved next to the front counter, and deli meats/'cheeses. All of this seems fine, if not good. The place itself is like a wood lodge feel...okay looking, not great. But it's just a deli in the middle of the country so that's of no concern to me, although it could have a bit more charm. The big show here seems to be the "famous" cinnamon bread. I decided I had to try this after the gentlemen who is always at the counter (owner?) does mention it to everyone he gets a chance to. And for good reason...it's unique and delicious. How is it unique? Well I'm not convinced this is really cinnamon bread as people know that term. This is more like a cross between cinnamon bread and cinnamon bun. There's a lot more crust, less white bready inside. Then again, there is bready inside and it's not like cake like a cinnamon roll would be. It's like fresh sweet bread...i forget what it's called. So the outside is like a cinnamon bun almost because it is crusty and has a glaze of cinnamon, butter, and sugar that is intense and proper. The inside is just like a fresh sweet bread. It is made on-site and it's delicious. It really doesn't need cream cheese which is my favorite cinnamon bread topping because it's really more than bread and certainly much more fattening. So it is and it isn't cinnamon bread -- but it's definitely delicious and worth trying in my opinion. A little piece of salted butter on the bready part is divine. To top it off, I picked up a sandwich that sounded great. Brie cheese and apple over prosciutto and spinach. The apple must have been a poor batch of fresh farm apples because it was grainy and not sweet. The prosciutto was way too fatty and I don't know what I expected from a place in the country so that's my fault. The sandwich overall was okay. I had to spit most of the meat out but there's always some of that with prosciutto, just way more in this case. I won't hold this against them much. The roll itself seemed like the highlight. read more

That stuff is out of this world! We got it fresh and warm and almost couldn't wait until we drove back to our campsite to dig in, it did not last long. So my girlfriend and I decided to restock on supplies and ice while camping at Taconic State Park. The place has everything you need for camping. EVERYTHING. The smell inside is also quite enjoyable. It's smells like fresh baked treats. We asked what the smell was and the owner stated it was their Sin a Bomb pull apart bread. We picked up a loaf and it was "the bomb"! It was sticky and moist and soft and delicious! Later on the same day we went back for a cold soft drink and kept smelling goodness coming from the rear. We asked again and the owner states that the lady was making a chocolate zucchini bread! What!?!? We picked up a loaf for the hiking trail and devoured half of it on our journey. Why not have a delicious treat like that while walking it off at the same time? All in all this is a great place for all your camping needs and much more! Quite simply this place is the bomb. I spent a summer living in the area and it quickly became my go-to for sandwiches (for all meals), beers (over a hundred craft varieties), and snacks for days (healthy and otherwise). The selection they offer is staggering. It's ideally suited for the many hikers and campers in the region. Most of all, the folks who run the place are the kindest and most friendly around. If you're a camper buying firewood, it's worth paying the premium for theirs. It's the only wood around that's properly seasoned (i.e. it will burn). Don't be duped by those selling recently split wood down the road. You'll end up spending more on kerosene from Depot Deli to make it light :). Personal favorite in the sandwich dept: the spicy ticket. A+. read more

This place is sort of magic. First time camping at the park and the Depot Deli quickly became a staple of the trip. Run by wonderful and friendly folks--such a family atmosphere I felt at home instantly. They have such a great selection of freshly prepared food, groceries, beer, and so much more. Stopped in for a sandwich after hiking around Bash Bish Falls. $20 for two standard sandwiches, a big beer and a big margarita in a can. They had TONS of beer choices with lots of interesting micro brews. I really wanted a pulled pork sandwich but they were out of coleslaw so opted for turkey instead. I think the girl behind the counter might have been having a bad day as she wasn't personable at all. We sat outside on a picnic table and marveled at the fun painting on the side of the building. A nice walk down the hill from Taconic State campground and you are at a charming upstate deli which is convenient for a few supplies. My favorite thing about Depot Deli is the craft beer selection. I have tried the Sin-a-Bombs twice, think of a loaf of challah bread with cinnamon and sugar on top. Call a head of time to get a fresh loaf, otherwise it is like a brick. If not, ask to have it heated up. The one time, and last time, I bought a sandwich off the board and it had four slices of roast beef on it and not the freshest of bread which was a disappointment. They were also out of lettuce... Staff was super friendly to locals, but cold/indifferent to us as if we were inconveniencing them. 3 stars for poor sandwiches, mediocre service, but convenient for forgotten supplies and craft beer selection. read more

We stopped in before biking to grab waters, and smelled the comforting, homey, buttery-sugar scent emitting from the kitchen. The owner told us the heavenly scent was from their highly popular Sin-A-Bomb bread-- a creation his wife makes daily, fresh, from an old, secret family recipe. We all sampled it and promptly vowed to come back the following morning to get more. We brought it home to family and friend and co-workers, and now you should plan your trip to Copake Falls to try this stuff. So you are camping at Taconic State Park, or playing golf, or swimming at Copake Lake or the ore pit at the state campground, and you get hungry, or need anything from duct tape to cheese. Go to Depot deli, the best coffee in the area and delicious cinnamon "pull aparts", a breakfast right there or some better than diner bacon and eggs and pancakes.
