Great spot! We arrived after dinner and just a few minutes before they close at 7pm. Ice cream was exceptional! Super velvety and rich and what they call one scoop is an extremely generous serving and a bit more than I had bargained for after a full meal. Nevertheless, it was so excellent I ate the whole serving! Cool Alpine themed grounds that resemble Germany or Switzerland and the cows are close by on view. Very kind and friendly service, I only wish they were open later because especially once it's lighter later, the 7pm close seemed a bit early. Really cute little farm, definitely helps get into the rural/farm vibes of the area. We came here for the cheese of course. We did the cheese plate (choice of 3 for $30). I let GF take the wheel with the choosing. We had 2 soft cheeses and one semi hard cheese. They were all really good. They threw on a few other things on the plate, sweet cubes (quince paste?), crackers, and those lil baby pickles. There were a bunch of cows relaxing nearby which really added to the ambiance. High Lawn Farm was a wonderful find on our meandering back roads of Lennox and Lee. We went for some ice cream and then loaded up on cheeses, whole cream, jam and fresh butter to take home. Really wanted to buy steaks, pies and more but only so much room in the cooler. It's such an authentic place to visit with the cows outside and in the front barn. I was staying at Canyon Ranch and two people suggested to go here for the incredible ice cream. Purple cow flavor to be specific. They also mentioned the flight of ice cream. And cheese was also recommended. I got the van to shuttle me over. You enter through a cute little shop that has things like jams, candles, maple syrup, etc. kind of like what you would see at a farmers market. There was a chalk board with options for the grilled cheese. I just came from lunch or I would have had the grilled cheese- next time!! I asked to try the purple cow. Wow! We visited High Lawn Farm on a hot summer day and we had a fun time looking at all the cows and having ice cream. These cows live in the nicest barn I have ever seen. It was kind of a mixed bag for us, so let me break it down. GOOD STUFF The complex is gorgeous. Beautiful scenery, very cool buildings, plenty of cows and calves, a stocked country store that specializes in charcuterie and specialty foods. My ice cream was exceptionally good. I went with a small scoop of their Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip for $4.65. The scoop was pretty generous, the raspberry flavor was very good, the ice cream was smooth, velvety and excellent, but the thing that made my dish great was the extraordinary amount of yummy chocolate chips that made some bites of my ice cream resemble a candy bar. It was fantastic. THE ODD STUFF There is a very limited selection of ice cream flavors - only ten today. It's a very confusing layout here because you can actually order your ice cream at three different places, but the ice cream is served at one single place. You can order your ice cream inside the country store, outdoors under a covered walkway, and outdoors next to the pickup window. When it comes time to get your ice cream, that's also an oddity. Because ice cream orders are coming from three sources, there was little correlation between when you order and when you receive. For example, we ordered inside at the country store and walked over to the pickup window. New customers were also ordering at the same place, and they received their cones and cups before we received ours. I know its not the end of the world, but it felt odd to see people order and get their ice cream a few minutes after our order went in. Arriving 15 before they closed on a Sunday we weren't even sure it was open because of how dark the property was. A little disappointed we didn't get to explore the property because it looks beautiful in pics. We were still able to accomplish our main goal of getting ice cream tho!! The only thing I wish I had time to do was visit the farm! We showed up minutes before it was closing and it was dark. Despite us arriving close to their closing time the staff was super friendly and accommodating. With customer service like that I will show up again. They had a nice variety of ice cream flavors. Visited this farm with my parents during their summer trip to the Berkshires. We had a lovely afternoon walking around the premise, seeing the cows, exploring their shop with locally sourced goods, and of course, enjoying some ice cream! The farm is decently large with a lot of space to walk around. You can walk right into the cows' quarters and get fairly close. We had a fun time with this, but I'm sure young kids would get more of a kick out of it! Just be prepared for the smells, especially in the summer. The onsite store was small but featured a lot of enticing local and homemade goods. They sold their own milk and cheeses, as well as many other treats, at a reasonable price. Of course, we couldn't leave without ice cream! It was a summer day so the line was fairly long but moved quickly. Their menu wasn't too large, which helped with decision making. I opted for the strawberry rhubarb crisp, which was a delightful balance of sweet, crunchy, and a touch sour from the rhubarb. The quality of the ice cream was outstanding, and it was so fun to enjoy the scoop while looking out at the cows! My parents enjoyed their scoops as well, also commenting on the quality and fresh flavors. The price was a bit elevated, but for the quality, it was understandable. As an animal lover, I've always appreciated my trips to High Lawn Farm and this time around I was able to eat dairy and gluten so the world was my oyster and I loved it! Every time I come here with my family, we order different types of cheeses and try the ice cream by the truck. On certain days during the week, they have pizza vendors come in. I got to try the pizza, the ice cream, and the cheeses that they sell in the shop. Everything was delicious, and I loved the quality of the food. The only thing that I would have changed about my ice cream experience was that I found a couple of small pieces of plastic in one of my milkshakes, but because of the quality of the food it wasn't a big deal. I also love going to see the cows whenever I come by. They're so cute, and you get to pet and spend time with them! We loved this place so much we stopped by twice in one weekend! High Lawn is a lovely dairy farm in the heart of the Berkshires. Recently celebrated 100 years of serving the community with incredible dairy products all while taking great care of their animals. We tried the cheese board and enjoyed it outside on the farm grounds. Siegfrieds pride-buttery and light cheese named after one of their favorite cows. The high lawn blue- a super creamy and highly flavorful blue cheese. High lawn cream- almost a Brie like soft cheese that was to die for. After sampling plenty of cheese and meat, we wandered to the calf barn and got to visit with some of the baby cows. My wife, 2-year old daughter, and I stopped by here during our 3-day stay in the Berkshire region and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this farm. Although we did not do much beyond having ice cream, the quality of the ice cream itself was outstanding. As the farm notes "With High Lawn Farm Premium Ice Cream, you get more of that dense and creamy texture that's missing in lower quality brands. That's because it's real, fresh, Jersey milk with the least amount of air possible (that's what makes the texture so rich & creamy!)" After having the ice cream here, I would take their word for it. I know for a fact that my daughter who has to often be coerced into eating something was really protective of her ice cream and if I took so much as a lick of it, she would promptly protest! We really wanted to come back here on the very last day of our trip before heading out to Boston but unfortunately the logistics that day did not permit us making another visit to the farm. Nonetheless the fact that we wanted to return during a short 3-day trip tells you how highly we thought of this place. Put simply, this is a must-visit place for anyone in the area.
