After a strong wind storm, parts of our shingles blew off. Because our roof was at least 30-40 years old, it was time for a new roof. I had our roof replaced by Dependable in January. I give 5 stars with 5 reasons: 1. First impression - professionalism and trustworthiness. Jose and Kaylee showed up for the estimate. They were the only company (I had several bids from different roofers) that took the time to explain their product with actual samples and prices. We probably spent a good two hours or so and asked many questions, yet they answered all questions without rushing us or pressuring us. 2. Timely responses If Jose wasn't available, Kaylee responded to almost all text messages in a timely manner. 3. Good workmanship The team of workers showed up on time and worked efficiently. They finished the entire project as they promised. And they cleaned up afterward too. 4. Reasonable pricing (compared to many) Because we had some extra work done to enhance the look, we paid extra. Nonetheless, I am glad we did because our roof looks so much better and more valuable than before. 5. Good customer service. Prior to the start of the project, we had rain forecasted. Because we had some shingles missing due to prior windstorm, the guys came out and put a temporary patch to protect against impending rain. That's a good service. Also, after the project was finished, they came out to do some extra cleaning and touch-ups. Now, that's a good follow-up service. Definitely a dependable roofing company! Our friends used Dependable to put the roof on a new addition, and referred us when my 10 year old roof came crashing through the garage ceiling. Solid, careful work and under budget too! The original design of my roof had a downspout from the upper roof converging with two valleys into a small gutter on the lower roof. This lasted until, big surprise, my 10 year warranty expired. I called my Builder, and it was ' LOL you're 3 months past your warranty, lots of luck sucka' (In fact, the date anyone else gave for an appointment is Still 5 days away from today! 3 weeks out from my phone call. Dependable Roofing has already been out twice in that time.) I must have had a small unnoticed problem earlier, but during the big storm this month I had a straight waterfall pouring in between the gaps of the plywood from the outside roof into the garage. Miguel from Dependable Roofing came out right away, even though they were busy with calls from the storms, and made sure my house was watertight to prevent further damage. The crew came out again today to make sure that it'll be safe during the next round of storms. New downspout direction, and waterproof coverings already keep water out of my ceiling. When it dries out they are going to redo that section of the roof correctly. read more

We initially had this exceptional company give us an estimate on a new roof for our multi-story house in 2017 but then encountered financial and health obstacles. So, they gave us a new estimate for just repairing what was most needed, at an extremely affordable price, until we could get back to looking at a new roof. They did a great job on the repairs and it held us over perfectly until we were ready for the new roof. That new roof is now over our heads, again at a very affordable price. The materials they used are star energy certified and they also replaced (and painted for us) many long-ago warped pieces of 35-year-old fascia boards. They went above and beyond in honoring a special request we made, they arrived on time, cleaned up after their work, and finished on time (and before the next round of rain was due to arrive). They came out and tarped my roof to stop the leaks until a break in the weather and they could get me on their schedules. During the replacement work we uncovered a lot of mold and had to replace a lot of plywood and insulation. They showed me pictures and helped me figure out how to resolve the mold problem. Dependable re-roofed our 30 year old concrete tile roof in conjunction with our solar panel contractor, YES, so that roof can be assured of a leak free roof after the panel are installed. They removed the tiles, added new tar paper over the existing paper, sealed ridges and valleys and other work. YES installed the PV standoff bases before the tiles are replaced. We just received our roof consultation from Gerardo and I am extremely disappointed. We have not received the estimate yet, he was sitting in front of our house for 30 minutes before being told to just leave and send the estimate and pictures later. When Gerardo arrived, he was told to not break any tiles. That is obvious and we were somewhat joking but, since this was our 2nd estimate, I had a feeling that I needed to caution him to not break new tiles since we had already gotten a count of the damaged tiles from the first estimate. When he was on the roof, I could hear him stomping around up there and it even sounded like he was moving equipment, it was so loud. I thought to myself, I know that he is not being so blatant as to allow us to hear him being careless. Lo and behold, unfortunately, Gerardo was unable to successfully "read the room" and when he came down he told us that DOUBLE the amount of tiles were damaged than with our first estimate. No one has been up there since our first consultation so, how did 8 more tiles get cracked in less than a week? I wish that I had read some of the other 1 and 2 star reviews before as some of their experiences sound familiar. One was from a lawyer who said that he planned to sue. Regardless of what their estimate is, their integrity is questionable and I would never use them, especially after another reviewer said that they caused damage to their electrical system, did not say anything and denied it. I am sure that the first company I had give an estimate will confirm this when they notice more damage than what they originally observed. Since I started this review, the company called and said that there was a mixup in appointments and that they needed to reschedule us. She was told that the person had ALREADY been here to do the inspection, had left and promised us the estimate was on the way. She could not find that one had been started in her system and said that they normally take 2 business days. This is administratively weird and almost scary. I can't imagine what kind of problems we would have had if we were going to hire them. Another review on here says that some of these 5 star reviews are by their employees. I am starting to think that might be true given the vast contrast in experiences. read more

I would give this company 10 stars if I could. Mr. Rodriguez (owner) was great to deal with. Everything we wanted was in the contract and Jose (the project manager) was fantastic to work with. Great care was taken to protect items on and around my deck as well as everything else around the property. My 32 year old roof needed a lot of decking and fascia board replaced as well as a huge sheet metal chimney cap that needed to be removed, refabricated, painted and reinstalled. In addition to the new roof, we also had gutters and downspouts and gutter guards installed. Everything was done beautifully. Additionally, all the men who worked on this large project worked so hard and were so nice to have around. They really went the extra mile making this old house look fabulous again. read more

Crew cleaned up entirely after each day of work. No complaints, only praises. If you have looked for a roofer in the past year you might have shared my experience. Call, leave message, get no response. Alternatively, call, speak to someone and be told they have no time or interest. To my great relief, that was not the case with Dependable. I called, spoke to someone and was told I would get a call back. I did! I explained the problem and was told I would hear back in a day or so with a date someone would come out and look at my issue. They did! A few days later Manny came out spent some time on the roof and said he could see the issue and he knew how to fix it. I got my quote soon afterward and recently the work was performed. All during the process I received regular phone updates and reminders. The workers arrived on time. Everyone I dealt with by phone or in person was friendly and knowledgeable. Best of all, the work was done right because we have now had a couple of good rains and not a drop of water has appeared. I could not be more satisfied. read more

Dependable Roofing quoted the removal of a single course of old asphalt shingles and installation of Landmark Pro asphalt shingles along with new 7" steel gutters (the deep ones cover the rafter tails and look great) and gutter screens. The quote included repair of some water damage on two rafter tails, repair of water damage on a porch overhang (rotted plywood), installation of a skylight on that same overhang and installation of a temperature controlled attic fan to increase ventilation in the summer. My experience was as follows: - Jose came out on time and conducted his inspection in about 1/2 hour and answered all my questions. - Of the 7 companies I requested a quote from, he was the only one who included everything I wanted and sent the quote the next day - just when he said he would. It was clear, listed the materials he would use, and included different line items for the repairs and extras I asked for. It also clearly stated that additional repairs would be quoted T&M should they be necessary. - When it came to the work, it took about 5 days total plus a final inspection on the 6th day. They showed up, each day, on time and ready to work. They clearly posted the permit they had pulled with the city. They brought a porta-potty for the crew. They worked all day. - There were several crews that came and went: Day one was the stripping crew. The materials (shingles, felt, nails, flanges, flashing, fan, skylight, etc..) showed up the next day about mid-morning and various crews came and went over the next 4 days until the foreman signed off on the final inspection. - They did very nice work. In particular, the plywood replacement and skylight install on the porch overhang were very nicely done. They built a new frame for the skylight and even trimmed it before putting a Velux outdoor skylight on it. They also trimmed out the sides of the overhang with 2 x 6s that went all the way to the roofline. The attention to detail with the flashing, painting, and sealing was also exceptional - especially around the chimney. It came away looking much better than it did with the original roof - "neat" is the word that comes to mind. They painted all the vents to match the roof color and - this was a big one - primed all the wood they replaced on the overhang. It looked really good. None of the other quotes I got included priming. - When it was time to pay - two installments - they sent an email each that was clear about what forms of payment they would accept and how I could get it to them conveniently (they picked up checks). Also, I was expecting additional T&M charges for the overhang work because they replaced all the plywood (I expected only a few panels to be replaced) and it seemed to me it was more involved than what I thought they'd estimated. There were no extra charges. I paid for just what was on the original estimate. - My only complaint was with daily cleanup. There were a lot of nails and a little roofing debris left around the perimeter of the house after they stripped it and, the last day they worked, they left a lot of stuff out and laying around (to be fair, it was late on a Friday). However, they had a crew come out the next morning and do a thorough cleaning. It just would have been nice if they'd done it at the end of each day. To me, it was a small sacrifice to make for the superior job they did, overall. Bottom line is these guys were willing to provide services (the skylight and painting) that most of the other companies didn't want to bother with and their attention to detail was top-notch. I'm very happy with the job they did and I would definitely hire them again. read more

After reaching out to Dependable Roofing for a quote, I noticed they were very fast to reply by email and if they didn't answer the phone, the call back was quick. Out of 3 quotes theirs was in the middle, but something the receptionist said to me closed the deal. I was concerned with matching the paint of the neighborhood to be in compliance to the CC&Rs. She said, "We've done several houses in your association so we will be able to closely match your neighborhood colors". Jose was the foreman (25 years with this company) and he was as pleasant as can be. Answered quickly any questions or concerns I had. He met me as scheduled at the site. I wish I could give Dependable Roofing 10 stars! We had a huge leak in our tile roof. They were so quick to give us an estimate. We wanted our old roof taken off, old insulation removed, new insulation blow in, new plywood, composite roof, new gutters, and four new skylights installed. The job was supposed to take at least seven days. Due to another big storm coming in, they were able to finish the job in five days! We were so grateful, considering we got at least two inches of rain, once the new roof was on. The company was wonderful to communicate with. All of the workers were so professional, courteous, and kind. We loved that they cleaned up every single day. There was never a mess left behind. They even insisted on coming into the house at the end of the day to make sure there wasn't a mess, due to the skylights being replaced. He gave me a good estimate and then when his crews came they came early and on time and worked very hard and very efficiently to replace my gutters on the second story. They had to go a long distance to buy new gutters for me but still they returned the same day to finish the job. When I sold my home in Antioch in 2018, I was referred to Dependable Roofing by my handyman when I needed to make some repairs to satisfy my buyer. It was right in the middle of the rainy season, but Jose was able to come out and give me a quote within 24 hours after I provided him with a copy of the roof inspection. Despite being a very busy time for roofers, they were able to get a crew over to my home within a few days (and fortunately during a break between storms) in order to make the needed repairs. The crew was very polite, professional, punctual, and did a great job. They also did hands-down the best post-job cleanup I have ever seen from a contractor. They not only swept up and hauled away all the debris, but also took a bar magnet on a pole around the entire perimeter of the house twice, in order to collect any errant screws, nails, or staples. Jose's quote was very reasonably priced and they ended up making a couple of unscheduled improvements at no extra cost, in order to prevent future potential issues. We had our our roof replaced in October, 2020 and I could not have been more pleased with the outcome. The crew showed up on time / early every morning and cleaned up around the house daily during the project. Jose and his brother were onsite several times throughout the project and recommended some great repairs to consider such as adding a fascia board over the existing to an area of the roof where it gets extreme weather exposure and was starting so show some wear. Several options for the repair were provided and they recommended the most sensible and least expensive - not trying to up sell. They completed the additional repairs for an unbelievable price.
