A metal roof was installed on my house just prior to when I purchased it 34 years ago. The roof is still in excellent condition but, unfortunately, dry rot in the fascia boards and eaves that likely existed at that time of installation was not repaired and worsened over the years. I learned that Western Sierra Roofing is one of a few roofing contractors that works with the metal product installed on my roof. I spoke with owner, Tony Farber, and he patiently explained the combined cost of labor and materials for repairs like this are based on linear foot of the different wood products used to replace and repair the dry rot. Fair enough since it's impossible to determine the scope of work until the roofing materials are removed and the damaged areas can be assessed. Tony assigned two VERY skilled members of his team (Hector and Jose) to the job. They arrived each day promised and on time, kept me informed of the scope of work and necessary repairs, and performed the work professionally and with great care. I've had Western Sierra do a couple of jobs for me over the last few years. They repaired a damaged and leaking roof when a tree branch fell on it -- leak is now fixed. They just completed realigning my roof gutters and installing new leaf screens. It rained this morning, and the runoff drained perfectly. Their prices are reasonable, their workers are considerate and efficient, and it's been an excellent experience overall. Obvious that these guys have been doing gutters for a long time. I appreciated that I didn't have to replace all my gutters and only had to do a couple sections. They proved a quote quickly and then worked me into the calendar that worked best for me and the other projects I had going on. The guys showed up on time to install. The initial installation looked to be structurally ineffective due to water piling up and overflowing on one side and not flowing fast enough to the downspout side. During the recent wave of 3 weeks of rain in January of 2023, I discovered on a Monday morning that I had a leak in my clay tile roof that was causing a wet spot in the drywall of our upstairs living room. I checked Yelp and called a number of roofers. I was not able to get in touch with anyone until I called Western Sierra who answered right away. Several hours later they put in a temporary fix for the leak which stopped the leak. After we finally got several dry days in a row about 10 days later, they did permanent repair on that section of the roof which involved replacing some torn roofing paper under the tiles. Great customer service from Tarrah who answers the phone and was very responsive throughout the entire process. Martin assessed the leak and coordinated the work. Price was reasonable. My realtor referred me to Tony for a roof inspection when we bought the house. I was impressed with how quickly he arrived. The report was what I expected. He charges for the inspection & the charge cannot be credited towards repairs. I waited perhaps 5 weeks to authorize him to start work. He wasn't priority #1 as there were serious issues to fix first. The rainy season hasn't come yet & I am trying to get ahead of it. I sent him an email saying that I accepted his proposal & also wanted additional work done. No reply. I forwarded my acceptance two more times. No reply. I phoned. No reply. That is 4 times that I was ignored. I had sent a PS that I also was interested in solar panels. He gave a short reply to that. Earlier he had said he does install solar panels. My attitude is if U have to beg him to accept my $2900 + much more (solar), then he is not the one who will fix a problem. I need a consumer friendly contractor who I can depend on. read more

I am very disappointed with their service. I had a simple job of replacing the old gutter and reconnecting the existing downspout. They damaged my downspout and connected drain system and didn't fix it I was told that they don't have right materials to fix it. They charged me the full price nevertheless . I've used Western Sierra in the past at least 4 times personally and have recommended them on several occasions to close friends looking for a roofer/gutter company. I've never had an issue until today. 20 feet of my gutters pulled away from the house - prob because of the wind. Called and i received a call back this morning. I explained that 20ft of my gutter has pulled away from the house and I'd like someone to come and look at it. He asked if Western Sierra installed it. I told him I could not remember; but I've only used WS and have lived here for 15 yrs. The next words out of his mouth were - "WELL, IF WE DIDN'T DO THE INSTALL - THERE'S A $500.00 DOLLAR MINIMUM". Not, lemme look it up and see - let me check it out and I'll get back to you or lets set up a time and see what ya need. It's gonna be $500.00 dollar minimum. Great repeat customer service. Very disappointed. I only use local companies . I called back and complained and was told he was new and the owner would call me later today. That was 9 hrs ago. Yesterday, our old gutters were removed and new seamless steel gutters with Leaf Blaster screens were installed. Western Sierra was outstanding to deal with, from getting an estimate to final installation. Top-quality materials and workmanship. The installation crew, led by Reuben, worked so efficiently that the entire job was completed in 3-1/2 hours. The work included lifting the roof tiles before removing the old gutters, to facilitate proper gutter installation. The tiles were replaced as the final step. Based on the types of trees near the house, and the lengths of gutters needed, Troy recommended the appropriate materials for the job. A written warranty for labor and materials was provided, and we were invited to call with any questions. read more

We decided to replace our 30 year old corrugated steel roof after having persistent leaks in the winter. Upon calling around for estimates it became clear that very few roofers install steel roofs, and the ones that do often consider it to be a speciality item. That's not the case for Western Sierra which specializes in standing seam metal roofs. Other roofers quoted higher prices with only 26 gauge steel panels. Tony's team used 24 gauge panels that they fabricated on site. New seamless baked enamel gutters were also fabricated on site. The crew did a terrific job over the course of a week - tearing off the old roof, laying fire-resistant waterproof membrane, and then carefully installing the gutters and standing seam roof. They put special attention into the areas where leaks were occurring. The final result looks terrific. If you are interesting in a steel roof you should look no further than Western Sierra. read more

We had a metal roof installed by Western Sierra roofing. It is a simple roof with no complicated crickets or valleys or dormers. It cost us plenty, but we didn't mind because we thought we were getting a good roof and a good installation. That's what their salesman assured us and backed it up with some thick binder full of pictures, supposedly from previous Western Sierra installations. He insisted on getting his commission check on the spot, which he did, and then he was nowhere to be found. The roof was installed, and it has leaked from day one! Tony did show up to "fix" the leak, but most of what he did was caulk gaps and nail holes. The roof kept leaking each and every rainy season, causing damage to our dining table, hardwood floors, and chairs. When we expressed concern that the five-year "warranty" was going to run out and the roof was still leaking, Tony assured us that he would honor the warranty for FIVE years from the date of the last fix. In other words, he is warranting that the roof will be leak-free for a consecutive five-year period. However, when the five-year period ended, Tony bailed. He wouldn't return our calls, and finally wanted to charge us extra to show up. Needless to say, the roof is still leaking and it is nearly impossible to find another contractor willing to take on that responsibility. Tony, come fix your faulty installation. We bought a house with a metal Decra Tile roof. Although the product lasts for something like 80 years, which is great, it's been hard to find service people to do things like install and maintain gutters, window wash, or even just to retrieve toys that found their way up top. You have to know what you're doing to even walk on the tiles without bending them. When we decided to add sun tunnels to our kitchen, Decra Tile recommended Western Sierra Roofing. Tony Farber, the owner, came out within a couple days of our call and put two sun tunnels in within 3 hours. SUCH a difference they've made! Best of all was Tony's easy attitude and quick service. He is smart, efficient, and friendly. All things I appreciate. We were so impressed by both the work and lightness added that we called back the following month and had him come back to add two more - one in the hallway and one in the laundry room. If it wouldn't make my roof look like bubble wrap, I'd have Tony install them throughout my entire house. Can't say enough about Tony and Western Sierra. The price was good, the service top notch, and my roof is just fine! If we have any roof issues in the future, I know who I'm going to call. He was well within the range of quotes and on the lower end of prices quoted by others you can get by filling out am online form. The equipment he uses are well rated for efficiency and quality. I checked a number of sites. Tony didn't try to oversell. I felt he was fair and presented various options and the pros and cons of each. There was no high pressure tactics like some of the larger players. His crew was excellent. Arrived on time each day and cleaned up the job site at the end of day. Tony kept me informed of progress and next steps. Let me know that during a few really hot days they would come early and have a shorter day which showed me he carried about his crew. Terrible service!! I received a quote at the end of July, the guy was extremely nice and was quick to send it over when he was done with his assessment. Made my appointment for the next available time which was almost a month later which I was okay with and everything seemed to be perfect. The day of my appointment the guys showed up to do the work and 5 minutes after they were there they told me, " my boss will give you a call we are leaving". I get a call and he says I will need to add 125ft of boarder from the roof and it will be about basically $1500 if we round it off so extra to the previous amount which was given to me. You can not show up the day of and be like, "oh yeah it's going to be another $1000+ to what I told you before". That's just bad business there!!I'm frustrated because I called off from work so I can be there and now the work is not getting done and I lost a day of work! read more
