Acker Roofing has been tending the roof of our church for years. This year, we had some patching for them to do in addition to regular gutter and downspout cleaning and general inspection. Parts of the roof are flat but other parts are extremely high and steeply pitched. The workmen were thorough, careful, and professional over the course of the 2-day job. Two days after the work was completed, we had a rainstorm, and the roof performed flawlessly - no leaks or clogs. The timing was excellent and the work was well worth the cost. I was not happy with some of the gutter work but they sent someone out right away to fix it. They were also very fast in getting the warranty paperwork submitted. We had an unexpected leak this past spring during the extra heavy rains due to a patio cover not being tied in correctly years ago. The estimator came out, inspected the damage and delivered a quote when he said he would. We had a terrible experience dealing with Acker Roofing. I'm so amazed by the many positive reviews they had, but we didn't experience that at all. They had so many delays and they lacked proper communication. They started the job on October 5th and didn't finish till November 8th. More than a month for this job. I understand sometimes materials don't arrive on time, or something was missed, but not to this extent. The job is to replace the existing shingles, put a new decking, and take out a chimney stack and replace it with a skylight. We really didn't know when they would show up, or when they were waiting on materials to be delivered. We had to contact the office to ask about the progress of the job. They did update us, then they added "the worker should've told you", which they didn't. They also left the dumpster in the driveway for more than 2 weeks with no work; again no communication about it. There was a week or so of no one showing up, so we asked the office about it. They blamed it on the city permits. They stated that they didn't word it right, and they didn't include the skylight permit... even though that's what we agreed on from the start. Again, we had to ask for an update. Another delay was that they ordered the wrong skylight.. Even though one of them came inside the house to check which one to order. Also, stated that they will paint to match the roof around the skylight. After they finished the skylight, we asked them if someone was coming to paint. The office stated that they don't come inside the house and paint. Yet, from the start they said they would. On top of that, they would ask us to pay before finishing the job. On the contract it states that there we pay a deposit, 50% when they start the job, and 50% when they finish. They also wanted us to pay something we didn't agree on. Once we contacted the office to verify, they said they sent the wrong payment request by mistake. I don't recommend this company; it is terribly managed. Spend your money somewhere else and hopefully have peace of mind. read more

When we started looking for a roofing company to replace our roof, I wanted to support a local company. Acker roofing had the best Yelp rating and was the cheapest by far. When they came to our home to give us an estimate, they came with samples to look at and plenty of different roofs to choose from on their website as well. We had our quote emailed within a day or so. And of course we changed our minds a couple times, they were gracious about it. The day came to get the roof installed.. I cannot emphasize enough how quickly and professional this company is.. My roof was done in about 2 1/2 days, and each day I arrived home with not one bit of garbage or any remnants of the old roofing or anything on the ground around my house.
