When they came to our home to give us an estimate, they came with samples to look at and plenty of different roofs to choose from on their website as well. We recently purchased a home in Concord, during the home inspection a single roof tile was found to be cracked. The home inspection company gave us a proposal for $400, but I decided to call some local companies to get some additional quotes. Most of the companies I called had a minimum charge between $300 - $500 to do any work or repair. Several did not seem interested in such a small job. I called and left a message for Dusten and he got back to me quickly. He reviewed the inspection report via email and was able to give us some options on replacement or repair since it was a clean break. He was able to complete the repair within a week for $100. Woke up one morning to a dripping ceiling and the realization that the January 2023 storms had revealed a roof leak. Acker Roofing was recommended to me by a different highly-rated Yelp roofing company that doesn't service tile roofs (which is what we have, and Acker does work with tile roofs). The rain was relentless for about 3 weeks, but Acker came out to evaluate the problem and provide a quote and was quick to schedule us for a fix when there was a break in the rain. You can tell a lot about a company by how they handle the small jobs. Ours was an entryway leak after the rains. We got several bids and the reason we chose Acker was because he explained options, an "overkill" solution as other bidders have done or a suggested fix taking into account the whole situation. We went with his suggested fix because it made sense and saved some money. In short, we are delighted customers. You can be sure we will call him to do any future roofing needs. If you're considering Acker Roofing you may want to read this first. We needed to have our roof replaced. We talked to Dustin and agreed that we would go with them and wanted to get on the schedule as soon as possible. We started having problems when he sent us the contract 3 weeks later than he said he would. Signing the contract gets you on the schedule. I repeatedly tried to contact them to find out how far out the schedule was and I received no response. The contract explicitly states that the terms of the contract are good for 30 days from the date of the contract. I received a text message within the 30 day period and was told that the prices had gone up. They asked if I wanted a revised contract. I had printed out a copy of the original contract before receiving the text message. After receiving the text message I went back to the Acker Roofing website and found they had deleted all the documents in our folder including the contract. I can only assume that they were eliminating proof that they were violating the term of their own contract. In our experience Dustin was late with documents, non communicative, and tried to cover up violating the terms of his own contract. I prefer to do business with a company that's ethical and communicative, one who doesn't ghost customers when he changes his mind about working with them. I think you deserve that too. read more

So i insisted using them.. They were in the heart of rainy business in January, but they were able to fit my new roof in with the extreme conditions of the insurance's general contractors' schedule on time . This company re-roofed my rental house in Concord in July 2016. The work started on time and finished on time. The workmanship was generally good except a small damage to the gutter that Dustin came to fix 2 weeks later after I reminded him. The communication needs improvement. The project manager initially told me I can pay with credit card. When it is time to pay, Dustin said credit card payment would incur extra charge. Its $8380 bid was the best, about $1000 less than the next bid with excellent rating on Yelp. However, I was invoiced at $10,133 after completion and there is no itemization of the extra charges. That surprised me. Nevertheless, Dustin took time to explain the extra work and materials needed when we met. They all seem reasonable and final cost is still within the range of bids I received. If it was not for the surprises, I would give this company 5 stars. Nevertheless, I would consider this company for my next roofing project. read more

I contacted Dusten Acker, owner of this company and requested a quote for a new roof. Dusten, came to my home and did a complete inspection of my roof on Tuesday, Aug 14. He told me he would have a quote to me by the weekend or early the following week. I have emailed him but no response. As of today Sept 13, a month later I still have not had a phone call or email from this man. If he did not want to do the job of coming to Oakland then the least he could have done was call or email and let me know. read more

My wife and I found Acker Roofing to provide outstanding service: a fair price, excellent customer service, and a quality job. We highly recommend the company. Strengths: The superintendent, Jim, was helpful, polite, honest, knowledgeable, and informative. He didn't try to sell us on anything we didn't need (unlike some staff from other companies). He did the original estimate and went up on the roof, took pictures, and explained the condition of our roof and gutters (some other companies gave us an estimate without even going on the roof). The workers cleaned up each day. We got a great materials and labor warranty. The final price was very close to the estimate; it was just a few hundred dollars more to replace and paint some dry rot side boards. The owner, Dusten, came by several times and took pride in the quality of his company's work. He wanted us to be very happy with the work and is a very pleasant and likeable person. Limitations: The limitations were minor. There was a lag time of two weeks between our signing of the contract and the scheduling of the work (and because they were busy, the work took place 7 weeks after the signing of the contract).
