I had a positive experience with Michael and his team on completing repairs after a plumbing/roof leak. He's responsive and communicative, trustworthy. He does beautiful bathroom remodel work. read more

I called and spoke with Michael. I needed to have my front door aligned and a new locks put on the door. We scheduled an appointment several weeks in advance for the repairs to be completed. My appointment was scheduled for June 19th at 8 AM and Michael did not show up. I waited two hours for him to show up before I called him. He forgot about my appointment. He was at another job. I was irritated but I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. I asked Michael to call me back that same day so we can reschedule the appointment. I never received a call back. It's been a week and still waiting for that call.... I do not recommend this business. Very unprofessional and unreliable. Please take your business elsewhere. read more

Grout is already cracking on the floor in the large bathroom. Grout in the showers is wearing away. I'm just doing the repair work instead of calling the company because of how the owner treated me. It looks great if you don't look too hard. If you want to have a say in how the work is done I would not recommend. The job felt rushed near the end and I decided to finish some of it myself. read more

Outstanding job. I am blown away by the work he did for me. Best deal in contra costa county by a long shot, and I got about 5-6 quotes before I started. I waited about 4-5 months before posting and have had zero issues. He not only did great work but is a good hearted person, he made several quality choices that I appreciated. read more

This owner is crazy and arrogant. He does crappy work and cannot extend past his own ideas which are old .. repetitive. Worse, he can't accept responsibility for his defective work. No customer skills at all. Pass on him seriously. read more

5 stars are not enough! I cannot recommend or rate Compton Construction highly enough! I contacted Mike regarding remodeling my bathroom, based on his great reviews here on Yelp, and after working with him I am convinced I could not have picked a better person for the job. Mike pays meticulous attention to detail and is super helpful. He went with me to various stores multiple times; picked up heavy items that I ordered from various stores (tiles, vanity, shower doors, toilet); and would answer all my texts promptly with all my Nervous Nelly questions. He never made me feel like any question I had was too silly or dumb. And the work he actually did on my bathroom???? Oh my gosh, BEYOND AMAZING!!!!!! I hated everything about my bathroom for the last 20 years I've lived here and wanted every single piece of everything in there, from floor to ceiling, removed and rebuilt / replaced from scratch, including removing a heinous drop down protrusion from the ceiling that apparently was only put in by the original builder as some sort of attractive architectural design feature, but it was the exact opposite of attractive. Mike and his assistant Walter worked so hard and diligently on my bathroom and transformed it into something that has exceeded all my wildest dreams! Please see the before and after pictures to truly appreciate how awesome Compton Construction is. And I can assure you I will be using Mike again to do a similar transformation on my other bathroom! If you need a bathroom remodeled, hire this guy; you will not be sorry!!! EDITED TO ADD: Grrr, Yelp did not post my photos in the same order I uploaded them. I wanted y'all to see the 3 before pictures, followed by the 4 after pictures, instead of the random mixture that Yelp did! read more

This was just about the most professional job I've ever seen done. We hired Compton Construction to assemble and install a plastic Rubbermaid storage shed in our yard, including materials and labor. Mike called the day before to ensure he was picking up the right shed. By the time I called back he had already checked the SKU online and verified it in my email. He arrived for the job half an hour early and did more than the actual job order called for: he leveled off the ground, removed an existing bike shed from the site, and hauled away the debris from the old bike shed completely free of charge. He finished the job in record time and was courteous and professional throughout. His workmanship was perfect. I would recommend Compton Construction for any light construction job. read more

I can't recommend Compton Construction more! Mike is extremely reliable , on time and does quality work. He goes against the grain of the stereotypical contractor... which is late, charges extra and does so so work. Mike is a contractor who delivers an honest and fair job. Please use this company , the next time you need a small or large job. read more

I didn't end up needing Mike as I opted to fix a leaking sunroom rather than demo it but I was none the less impressed by the time and professionalism he displayed discussing options with me. If I need work in the future I know where I'll check first. read more

Mike was on time daily. He takes pride in his work and did a fantastic job fixing the hole in my ceiling that was damaged due to a water leak. He went above and beyond my expectations. Mike you are just a good down to earth person and very likable. Hey Mike lets make a deal, lol. FB marketplace rules. My husband and I strongly recommend Mike Compton Construction. Compton Construction - My ceiling Mike fixed and he did a fantastic job. You cant tell it was a 3 by 3 hole before. Thank you, Mike - Tiling Near Me - Antioch, California

Mike did an outstanding job replacing baseboards and installing 1/4 round moulding in our house. He was on-time and completed the job on budget, as quoted, and finished in 1/2 the time we expected it would take. We're very happy with his work and would recommend him in the future. read more

I reached out to Mike after a bathtub cracked in my house. This resulted in a leak into the garage ceiling and mold ended up growing on the garage ceiling. After I had this removed I called Mike and unlike the other contractors he actually took the time to return my call. He promptly scheduled a time for him to come look. Mike mentioned two directions that I could go. 1) replace the tub with something similar or 2) replace the tub with something nicer and upgrade the bathroom. We ended up upgrading. Mike did incredible work, his quotes were pretty much exact - no surprises. Mike is a good guy, easy to talk to and someone you can definitely trust in your home. I am very satisfied and would highly recommend him. Adding pictures as well. read more

About a year ago, with the help of Amazon's Landscaping (a 5-star experience as well - see my other review), we had a re-graded, nicely laid out backyard. The next step in our backyard plan was to create a space we could enjoy with some shelter from the searing summer heat. We had inherited some funky, rustic indoor furniture that would be ideal on a back porch, if we could get coverage from the weather (since the pieces were not really made for the outdoors). We decided to try Home Depot's new referral service, Red Beacon. We described what we were looking for - a large covered porch that would be completely rainproof. After receiving a few bids, we liked the vibe we got from MICHAEL COMPTON of COMPTON CONSTRUCTION. He gave us a rough estimate, but requested an opportunity to discuss our project in order to firm up his estimate. Michael was on time, and over the course of the project, he continued to be very respectful of our schedules, showing up when he said he would and making consistent progress on our project. Michael is a flexible perfectionist in the best way possible. He can work with a limited budget, and has all kinds of creative ways to get things done well. At the same time, when it comes to the quality of his work, he makes no compromises. For example, we had a large amount of lumber delivered to our house for the project. He hand-picked the flawless pieces, and took the flawed boards back to Home Depot - exchanging them - at no cost to us - for flawless ones. He finished the project - by himself, without the aid of any uninsured workers - within three days. It was exactly what we wanted and it came in more than 100 dollars under budget! We were particularly impressed with his solution for rain drainage - he created a system that channels all the rainwater that falls onto the roof into a standing rain barrel for re-use in our vegetable garden (see picture). We then hired Michael to install a deck under the roof and he did a beautiful job on this as well, once again showing flexibility with the plans and impeccable workmanship (see picture of the completed project). We have since hired Michael for a variety of projects, large and small (e.g. punching a new door between two rooms, installing a rain chain, rigging lines of café lights against the house and to some posts he put in as opposing supports). He did all of it to code and exceeded our expectations by working quickly without taking any shortcuts. He consistently came in very close to budget and we did not have any "oops, I forgot to estimate this cost to your final bill so I'm adding it now" experiences which we have had in the past with other contractors. While we were tempted to keep him all to ourselves, MICHAEL COMPTON DESERVES A FIVE STAR YELP REVIEW. He is now our go-to guy for any future construction projects we may have, large or small. He earned our trust and we highly recommend that others consider working with him as well! A picture is worth a thousand words, so we're posting a few pictures of his work in our review as well. read more

Mike did some work for me after a pipe burst in my family room. He patched up some drywall, matched wall texture, installed fresh carpet padding then tacked down all loose carpet and finally, reinstalled the baseboards. He was fast, professional, clean and very reasonably priced. I often text him to get quotes on other house projects. read more

Did a small siding job a couple of months ago and does a great job. Would recommend to anyone for large or samall job.

Fantastic job. I had a few carpentry items that needed work including a load-bearing post that was rotting and needed replacing. He showed up early for the job, worked efficiently, and came up with creative solutions when wood sizes needed adjusting. The quote was what I expected to pay and what I considered reasonable. I plan to use him again when other work crops up. BTW, he accepts all types of pay, including Discover and American Express. (Nice that I could earn points on my AmEx card.) read more

Mike remodeled a 30-year-old bathroom for us and did an outstanding job! He had to replace the shower, toilet, flooring, vanity, lighting and faucet fixtures. He and Walter completed the whole project in a week, arriving early every day. He had great suggestions. He was honest and professional. Working with Mike was one of the best home improvement experiences I've had. I hope to hire him again for future projects! read more

We hired Mike to patch up and paint the drywall in one of our bedrooms, and also to shorten the legs on our counter height table to regular table height. From the outset, Mike was very honest with us, and told us there is a risk of our counter height table being wobbly if he shortened it. We appreciated his honesty with us. Knowing the risk involved, we asked him to shorten it anyway. But the table turned out great --- there was no wobble at all, and now the table better match our kitchen! Mike is also very meticulous when he patched up and painted the drywall in one of our bedroom. He wasn't satisfied with just an "ok" job. He wanted the job to be perfect. Mike really takes pride in his work, and we are very satisfied with the job he has done for us. We know we will hire him again for any future work. We also won't hesitate to recommend him to our friends and family. read more

Found Michael Compton of Compton Construction via Thumbtack. We needed a simple installation of a new kitchen sink faucet. The quoted price was sent via Thumbtack, and Mr. Compton showed up at the hour promised, installed the faucet (after having to go to the hardware store for an extension needed for the undersink hoses), and charged a minimal amount more for that in addition to the quoted install price. The job was well done, We are extremely satisfied with the work, and Michael Compton's professionalism. read more
