I used Dependable Movers for a move between the Bay Area and Sacramento County. 2 man crew for a large 1 bedroom apartment. Per hour rate for loading/unloading. Flat rate for driving time. The company rep (Jonny) I booked the service with was very communicative and helpful every step of the way. I received regular updates and check-ins via email and text. When I made changes to the service requested, the pricing changes were clearly outlined. Regarding pricing, Dependable Movers is competitively priced. It wasn't the cheapest option and it wasn't the most expensive. But of the similar companies that offered mid to long distance moving services, it was the best overall price I found for the services I needed. On the day of the move, the moving team of Vitaly and Dmitry were punctual, efficient, and very nice. Vitaly walked me through their moving plan, i.e., ways to make the move as fast and safe as possible, before beginning and kept me updated along the way. Dmitry was an incredible worker bee, disassembling furniture and protecting fragile items with ease and care. They made the drive to the destination location in about the same time as me, so I know they didn't take unnecessary side trips or linger anywhere. Then they unloaded in under an hour! Finishing the service was easy as well. The final price was within the quoted range, minus the refundable deposit I paid at the time of booking. My husband and I moved from the Peninsula to the East Bay a few months ago. A few months before the move I was looking for moving options and getting estimates and quotes, but between the AI and whoever was reaching out to me, it was excessive. I literally had to ask them to stop contacting me 2-3 times a day before I was ready to make a decision. Every week I would get a text with sad emojis saying they understood we went with someone else blah blah. That was a bit annoying, and almost prevented me from using them because I felt so much stress and pressure before we even were ready, but I had heard good things and saw such great reviews. I did my virtual estimate, and wanted it with packers and materials. We were moving about 55 miles away. The week prior to our moving date my husband had taken well over 60 boxes on his own and majority of the house was already packed. The only things not packed were part of the kitchen, our closets, and the beds needed to be broken down. I packed my bathroom on my own and my husband did his own as well. My husband broke down the couch, prior, and we had boxed most of the kitchen already. I just needed some help on the actual moving day because my husband had to work. I was planning to pack the food, because I read somewhere they didn't transport perishables but they offered to do it. I had already purchased quite a few moving boxes and packing materials that I had been using to pack. Four movers arrived on time around 8AM and immediately got to work. I had to leave to grab some stuff for our cats, and came back around 10:30AM and they had finished so much stuff. I was amazed. However, they broke things without disclosing it to me. I found a broken piece on the floor and asked about it and he was like "oh oopsie I broke it." And the item, while not expensive, could not be replaced and had sentimental value. He just didn't seem to care which really bothered me. This was my second red flag. I had finished packing my bathroom, and I'm not sure what happened for those next four hours but the speed at which they were packing or effectively moving things diminished drastically. Not to mention they very haphazardly and carelessly threw all of my perishables into boxes that were damp and smashed by the time we got to our new place. They took a few breaks, which of course they are entitled to, but by the time they managed to get to our actual apartment it was almost 5PM. They cited traffic, and other things for the delay, which fine, I get that. But when it came time to pay, it was almost $2K MORE that what we were quoted initially. My parents were helping us so my dad was absolutely outraged at the price discrepancy. We paid the bill, and as the lead guy was leaving he asked for a tip. I felt bad but I was tapped and couldn't afford it at the time. I had every intention of tipping them later in the week when I got paid, but as I was unpacking more boxes I realized we were charged for packing materials we didn't use, and many items I specifically asked to be packed with care, were packed very carelessly and some things were broken. I really hate leaving this review because I am sure these people are nice and helpful. They really missed the mark for us, and the lack of transparency and accuracy during the estimate impacted us pretty significantly. A few hundred dollars, maybe even $500 would have been fine. But quoting us one price and charging almost $2K more is a pretty significant oversight or fundamental issue with the estimate process. Had high hopes for them, but we were really let down by the entire experience. I'm sure they have been great for others, but with all the hiccups I can't say we were overall satisfied with the experience. No disrespect to the movers, it's a hard job. They should be more transparent about breaking things though, and should be more careful about PACKING items. Especially when that is part of the service being paid for. read more

True to their name, they were completely dependable in terms of (1) staying in constant communication; (2) coming to the house on time to provide a price quote and then to do the two-day, full-service packing job; (3) storing (for two months) my entire house's worth of furniture until I was ready to have it delivered across the country; and (4) smoothly delivering and unloading all the boxes in NYC. Dependable was also incredibly flexible in allowing me to do a culling and sorting process at their warehouse to reduce the amount of items going to NYC. They also did great work moving my furniture to a local SF consignment store instead of shipping it to NYC. TL;DR: they "lost" 2 of my boxes, ignored me, blamed me, lied about what happened, and tried to offer me a laughable amount of money. _________ I used Dependable Movers back in July 2025 for my move to San Diego. Things went relatively uneventfully, so, naturally, when I learned I'd be moving back to the bay, Dependable Movers was my first choice. Unfortunately, this proved to be a mistake. Among many smaller problems which I thought would be the focus of this review (e.g., they arrived 6 hours after they said they were first supposed to be at my building), the most egregious issue was that they failed to deliver 2 wardrobe boxes. From the beginning, the office as a whole was uncooperative. They were not proactive in communicating with me, often requiring me to follow up on my own. More than once, I was promised that a manager would call me when they ultimately did not. When I finally got ahold of Frank (the dispatch manager), he insisted that the boxes must still be in San Diego, and that the movers never picked them up. At least twice, he told me that the boxes "didn't show up on the inspections" done after pickup and before delivery, confirmed they "weren't on the truck," and they weren't on the warehouse security cameras. He even tried to say it was my fault because the truck was in the warehouse longer than it usually is(??). Frank and John (sales manager) both said multiple times "we don't know how this happened." However, the security footage from my new building shows that the boxes were in the truck. My building said that "The movers pushed the box back into the truck, closed the truck door, and left...it was not unloaded / delivered within the time frame that the movers were in the loading dock." This directly contradicts John's and Frank's claims that the boxes weren't on the truck. It's one thing to mishandle and lose my belongings, but it's another to fabricate a narrative, denying the boxes were ever on the truck. When it came time to request compensation, they initially tried to hand me off to the normal claims process (which would've given me $0.60 for each pound lost). To John's credit, he did call to offer me an insulting $200 to cover the lost items. Independent of the fact that the value of the lost items is well in excess of $200, this joke of an offer says that the time I spent chasing down people who told me they'd call me back is worth nothing; that the emotional distress this has caused me (so bad it even necessitated taking sick time from work) is worth nothing; that not having the proper clothing to give an important presentation at work is worth nothing. But, most shockingly, it says that the company and its employees don't stand by their work and, when faced with the consequences of their negligence, they prefer to throw up their hands and brush the issue under the rug instead of make things right with the customer. The whole time, I got the feeling they weren't really looking for the boxes and hoped I would just go away. I understand honest mistakes, but the abysmal communication from the office and the laughable $200 "go away" offer really makes me think that something sinister is going on here. An honest company would do everything they can to make it right; instead, I was given the runaround. I was lied to, blamed, ignored, and ultimately given a piss-poor offer of compensation. It really makes you wonder if one of these crooks is walking around the office in my finest suit. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm pursuing all options for recovery of my items. I've put them on notice that I will be filing complaints with the CA Attorney General's office and the CA Bureau of Household Goods and Services, a police report, and, if it comes to it, a lawsuit in small claims court. Don't be fooled -- someone from Dependable Movers will respond to this review saying how sorry they are that this was my experience and make excuses or try to blame me. Don't lose sight of the facts: they lost 2 of my boxes (that were in the truck at the destination!), ignored me, lied about what happened, and then tried to get me to go away. read more

I also made it clear I was willing to pay any additional amount if needed. After seeing the property, they refused the job but kept the $250 deposit, claiming wasted time. Dependable Movers SF just delivered my leather sofa from Macys. Macy's doesn't deliver their floor samples (which is what I purchased) so they referred me to call Dependable Movers SF. They picked up my sofa at Macy's, wrapped it up in blankets, then wrapped it up in plastic to fully protect it. They contacted me when they were on their way and called and texted when they arrived. I was greeted by Baki and Sergei who delivered my sofa. Both gentlemen were very friendly and they were super careful with my sofa upon unwrapping it. I was really impressed that they placed my sofa exactly in the position that I wanted it. I measured out the space to the inch and without asking they placed it exactly as I measured it to fit. Baki and Sergei were super professional. At first I thought it was a rather high price to charge for delivery but after seeing the White Glove treatment I got it was well worth the $450 delivery charge. I even gave them a tip on top of that. They well deserved it. They did all the work so all I had to do was pay them and enjoy my new sofa. I'm really happy. Coming up against my move-out date, I had thought I would pack all my contents myself and only need to pay for movers first the actual furniture and box moving. Then I realized I couldn't get everything sorted, boxed and packed in time and I needed help, RIGHT AWAY. I was able to schedule a crew of seven with two very experienced team leads to do my packing within six days from when I called. Albert and Amin and their well-trained team protected my carpets, were careful with my items and didn't break or damage a single thing. They arrived on time, checked in with me at certain time points throughout the day, and completed the pack at the lower end of the estimated hours. It was very much worth the amount I paid. What they did well: - front end sales and customer service - polished rep to talk with you - tech enabled quote/payment system - showing up roughly on time What they did that could be better: - spent hours indiscriminately wrapping dumb things like plastic vitamin bottles and empty spice jars in paper - packed everything in their expensive boxes. including things that were already packed and set aside for the garage - generically labeled the boxes. we have so many MISC boxes we don't even know where to start. everyday necessities (eg baby bottles) found buried deep in MISC What they did very bad: - time management. no hustle or personal accountability for getting us moved in on time (let alone in budget) - left a mess. i went back to the apartment today for a final walk through with our landlord. they left stuff hanging around including their tape/packing paper, a moving blanket and about 100 colored ball pit balls on the floor in the storage closet And the inexcusable: - they left 4 full kitchen drawers behind, including all our cutlery - they left all garbage cans behind - they missed an ENTIRE bathroom (this is a small apartment, so missing a room is bizarrely negligent) - and a bunch of small things through the house that show they didn't bother to give it a once over, including a framed picture and the growth chart we have hanging on the wall to measure our kids (pretty priceless). We were so disappointed with Dependable Movers that we asked them to leave after they dropped all our stuff off at the new house. My original movers cancelled my move with 7 days till move day. I immediately started calling around for quotes. Dependable Movers was the first to call back. The day of the move was quick and easy. I tried to pack the majority of my things in boxes but Tim and his crew immediately got to work wrapping furniture, Diassembling the bed, and even created boxes for glass table tops and large art pieces. Once we arrived at the new location, I tried to jump in and unpack boxes but Tim told me that his team would take care of thing, and that I should enjoy the move. We did a white glove service move from Fremont to Pleasanton. That means Dependable packed for us, moved our stuff, and unpacked everything (like literally put silverware away and everything). It was more expensive than some other options, but it was worth every penny. Our service was set up by Alex. He did a virtual inspection of our house. Scheduled the move. And even made moving during a holiday (new year's) no problem. He accurately assessed that the move would take three days total (day 1 - packing, day 2 - moving, day 3 - unpacking). He provided an estimate that was relatively accurate --- within 20% of the actual cost. Our moving crew was led by Yelaman. He was fantastic. Very detail oriented and hard working. His crewmates, Olzhas, Bula, Mergen, and Bakai were also excellent. The packing and unpacking took slightly longer than anticipated, but that was because Yelaman and his crew were focused on ensuring everything was packed securely and safely. It was also true that we had a large move (multiple trucks were involved). True to their effort, *everything* arrived at our new house in one piece. Once we arrived at the new house, Yelaman and the crew had a system for unloading our stuff safely and securely. They also recorded the rooms that every box was meant to go to and brought the boxes straight to those rooms. Once unloaded, the team began opening boxes, putting items away in a logical place, and breaking down and removing the boxes. Just to give you a sense of how trustworthy and solid this crew was --- I literally drove away from my house and left it unattended while they were unpacking. That's right, I left these guys completely unsupervised. That was the level of confidence and trust I had in them. Yelaman and his crew were hardworking, trustworthy, and deliberate. They're the real deal. You can probably find a less expensive mover, but not by much. The value here was tremendous. We moved a four bedroom house 30 miles in three days and didn't even need to lift a finger. If we ever move again, we will likely be going with Dependable Movers --- an apt name for this company. read more

We hired Dependable Movers for a last minute move. They moved over all of our bigger, heavier items. Even though I forgot to include many items in the original estimate, they were still able to move everything I needed to be moved over quickly. They were sure to wrap up everything that needed to be packaged well. They also managed to navigate really tight spaces to move large furniture without damaging anything.
