I have been a patient of Dental Ease for several years and can provide a fair assessment. Initially, I appreciated Dental Ease taking my dental HMO insurance and they are open on Saturdays, so I signed up. 1 star off: During my first visit with Dr. Jabr, she told me that she does not do cleanings on the first visit. This is really weird, because every other dental office I have been to does. She told me that I must re-schedule an appointment for the cleaning part, and the first availability would be couple months away. I pleaded with her because I work full-time and it is already inconvenient to miss a half day of work to go to a 45-minute initial dental appointment. She agreed to it that time, but made sure that I appreciated the "exception" she did for me. I guess I should be thankful for that? 1 star off: For my next visit, knowing that their appointments schedule couple months out, I booked an appointment way in advance. During my next visit, a new dentist came on board named Dr. Shieh. He was kind of incompetent when it comes to dental cleaning. He sprayed water all over my face and even left instruments in my mouth while seeing another patient. 1 star off: For my next visit, again, I scheduled my appointment way in advance. I was reassured that Dr. Shieh is no longer with the group and Dr. Ng has came on board -- great! A day or two before the appointment, I called for a completely different reason, but mentioned that I have an upcoming appointment. It turned out that they had canceled my appointment without telling me! Carolina, the receptionist, told me the next appointment is in couple months. At that time, I was very pregnant and wanted to get my dental cleaning done before the baby came, hence I planned the appointment way in advance. Besides, it was their mishap to cancel my appointment anyway. They ended up squeezing me in, but after much arm wrestling. 1 star off: Couple months ago, I called again for a routine cleaning appointment. Carolina told me that they don't have anything until next year, and it was on a random weekday that is very inconvenient for me. She suggested I take the appointment anyway, because it would be a full year out from my last cleaning if she gives me an appointment during a day that is actually convenient for me. Okay... I inquired about Saturday appointments, but Carolina said they do not have cleaning appointments on Saturdays; the office designates only a few spots during the week for cleanings. This has been such a frustrating experience. My dental needs are pretty basic, just 2 cleanings per year, and Dental Ease cannot provide this. Since I cannot get a cleaining appointment until a year after my last one, I am looking to find a different group. 1 star extra: Krista, the office manager, is wonderful and holds the office together. She explains things clearly, especially when it comes to insurance issues, and is very helpful to minimize a patient's out-of-pocket expense. Without her, I probably would have switched much earlier. Went here yesterday for a 2pm appointment, for a general teeth cleaning. The older receptionist was friendly, and so was the assistant Stacy, and then Dr. Ng. Stacy even asked if I wanted my retainers cleaned in their cleaner, which only took like 5 minutes, which was thoughtful! Dr. Ng was thorough with the cleaning, and also quick and efficient. I like how after the initial questions and some casual talk, he does not speak to you much while doing the cleaning. [Most other dentists ask you questions or try to chit chat, while they are drilling/cleaning your teeth, and ofc the most a patient on average can respond is something that goes like "mmm hmmm" "mmm"]. Nice big office, relatively easy parking, close to downtown Millbrae, would recommend! read more

I have hated the dentist my whole life until I found Dental Ease in Millbrae. Dr. Joshua Ng is kind, courteous, respectful, and a wonderful dentist. Dr. Sun did my gum surgery. My gums have never looked so great and felt so healthy. Not only is Dr. Sun talented at his craft, he makes me laugh during every visit. Krista is the "boss". She is the glue that holds this amazing team together. She's got spunk, sass, beauty, and the smarts. I don't necessarily look forward to my bi-annual cleanings but this awesome group of people make it painless (minus the shots you get on the roof of your mouth during gum surgery) and fun. Even my children (5, 7, & 9) enjoy their time at the dentist b/c of "Krista + team". Btw, my girls were going to a pediatric dentist b/c they wanted the stickers and little goodie bag you get after your check up.. SO, Dr. Joshua Ng purchased the stickers and the magnificent team here put together little goodie bags for my children. They are simply the best! Thank you to everyone that works here!~ read more

Took my daughter to Dr. NG about her cracked molar tooth. Here is Dr. NG's replied: "I wasn't train to extract teeth. You'd have to see a specialist for that and your insurance is not covered. The consultation fee is $150 and the extraction is $100. Total of $250 from your pocket." I looked at him like, "Wow, you are a certified DDS and you tell me that you don't know how to pull a baby tooth? What did you learned at dental school? Are you really board certified?" In summary, this DDS is very stingy and ALL about money. We refuse to go back unless we have plenty of money to feed him. read more

Unfortunately, we had to switch dental offices because a new dentist (not Dr. Jabr) started to do our cleanings. Clearly, the new dentist was very raw. He didn't seem as careful as other dentists I've been to in the past. During our cleanings we would get splashed with water all over our faces! After the last visit, in which we received the unwanted water facial again, we decided that it was time to look elsewhere. The office in general, however, remains really friendly and Krista and Dr. Jabr are absolutely wonderful. It's really too bad that they started using this new dentist. read more

I am more than happy to modify my review based on the following: I am appreciative of Dr. Ng's dignified reponse to my nasty review. He even had his office call me to arrange a meeting to go over his findings and treament plan as well as what could have caused the pain with my husband. After discussions with our other denist, Dr. Ng could not have caused the underlying issue with my husband. The exam mostly likely aggrivated it and caused it to surface sooner. Its very hard to see an infection when it is at the base of an old root canal. As far as my dissapointment with the way the office responded to the issue, they have made up for it with their diligent follow up. Thank you for making the effort and reaching out to us. You can tell a good doctor not by how they treat you while you are there, but if they follow up to make sure you are okay afterward. read more

I came to Dental Ease after having some bad customer service experiences at Bronzini. The team at Dental Ease is so nice! They're warm, friendly, and accommodating. I felt really relaxed going there. Dr. Ng took a look at my teeth and did part of the cleaning himself. Krista, who took several of my calls, also ended up finishing the job. I also spoke to Gina, who is there part time and helped me with my insurance. In all, the team seemed really relaxed, close-knit, and competent. I actually enjoyed talking to them and am relieved that I finally found a good dental clinic in the Millbrae area! read more

The first time that I have left a dental office without bleeding gums! Yes, I floss. I brush twice a day. I work out and am generally quite a healthy person. But for some reason I have put up with bleeding gums at every dental cleaning of my life. Perhaps my strict Asian upbringing (learn to endure the pain, son!) had something to do with it? In any case, Dr. Ng had my teeth nice and cleaned, all without any of the sensitivity or bleeding I had in the past. Impressively clean, comfortable office with modern dental tech. It's a bit feminine but hey, I'm into that! Must be the wonderful staff - Krista and Kristina are lovely, friendly, and very responsive when I need to change an appointment etc. On top of that, Dr. Ng made me feel very comfortable and explained all procedures and options thoroughly - no pressure at all, it's obvious that he wants to do what is best for my teeth. He knows his stuff and I trust his opinion. Even better, he takes my insurance and my copay is lower than before. Not sure how, but my new crown came off a few days ago. At 1am, after a long shift at work. I called and left a message for Dr. Ng, and didn't hear back in the morning. Called again, and left another message. Finally got a call back and I was in the exam chair by 11:30. The crown went in the sterilizer and it was back on and I was out the door by noon. Very happy with Dr Ng and I can't believe I just said that about a dentist. -- Only complaint is that it can take a month (sometimes plus) to get a cleaning appointment. This is the best dental office I have ever been to. The staff is outstanding and they really calm you of any worries or nerves. It's a super convenient place for all of your dental needs, may they be a simple cleaning or an oral surgery. Krista in the front office is very organized and personable and makes you feel welcome from the first second. Melissa, the dental assistant I have personally dealt with, is incredible. She talks to you as if you've been friends for years and is very knowledgeable when explaining all procedures. Dr. Ng is great and gentle and is very efficient with his work. I also got to meet Dr. Sun (their in-house oral surgeon) when I had two wisdom teeth extracted. I was terrified but he calmed me and explained the process step by step and my extraction was completed before I even knew it. I have seen people of all ages come to this office and I am excited to continue my relationship here. This is a great place and makes you not fear the dentist! This 5-star rating is long overdue. I have gone to Dental Ease for nearly eight years and Dr. Ng and Krista are wonderful! The rest of the staff change more frequently but are always very friendly and professional. Dr. Ng is very honest and caring. He is great at performing dental procedures and explaining treatment options. Krista does it all and does an excellent job at everything she does (scheduling, insurance, or assistance with dental procedures). They make visiting the dentist as pleasant of an experience as possible. More recently, I had my first root canal performed by Dr. Moattar. I was surprised that I felt no pain at all. Dr. Moattar was very calm and made me feel at ease. I hope that I don't need another root canal, but if I ever do, I would only see Dr. Moattar (even if it means driving or flying if he moves to another practice). read more

Dishonest Dental Practice It has been many years since my last checkup. After a preliminary examination, the dentist advised I get a deep cleaning and quoted me two payments of $500, to which I agreed. While I was getting the deep cleaning, they had me quickly sign some paperwork. Little did I know, they added in another $160 for Full Mouth Irrigation. I contested the receptionist about this, but she kept pointing out that I had already signed and that I owe the additional $160. Not sure if this charge was legal, but to avoid trouble, I plan to pay this amount and call my insurance regarding this. Will also be switching my dentist as well. read more

I started going to Dental Ease about 6 years ago when Dr Jabr was there. I have always been extremely scared of dental visits due to trauma from a dentist I had when I was young. Plus I've suffered from anxiety. But Dr Jabr and office manager Krista were more then understanding to my issues and have helped me feel incredibly comfortable during each visit /procedure. Even after Dr Ng started working there, he (very patiently I may add) put up with my constant nervous babbling while I sat through my daughter's procedures . I tend to say anything & everything with out thought, a very embarrassing & annoying side effect that occurs when I get anxiety. But neither Dr Ng or the staff showed any judgment or aggravation toward me. Krista has also made fallow up calls encouraging but with out pressuring me to come in for my dreaded & way over do root canal. All in all everyone at Dental Ease has been so tolerant and attentively kind to me & my family. Giving us the best treatment & making sure we have little to no out of pocket costs. I only hope for their sake I don't cry, babble or vomit when I come in for my root canal. But if I do I know they will be right there consoling me, laughing at my nonsensical chatter & holding back my hair. I highly recommend Dental Ease! read more

I'm a pretty easy-going patient, but Dr. Ng managed to fix a problem that had been bothering me for about a decade in five minutes. Whenever I got a cleaning, I would always feel something sharp behind my lower front teeth. I mentioned this before to another dentist, who was otherwise great, but he basically ignored me. In contrast, when I mentioned it to Dr. Ng, he took another look at my teeth and tried to find the sharp thing on the tooth. He ended up having to clean between my gum and tooth, as I had a piece of plaque there. He told me that this is what would be done during a "deep cleaning" throughout the entire mouth, and that this often requires anesthesia. Fortunately, I didn't need anesthesia nor feel any pain. Thanks to Dr. Ng for his attention to even the smallest detail. read more

This office is fantastic. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the dentist (Dr.Ng) is not only extremely competent but gentle and patient. the office itself is bright, clean, welcoming and modern. I've had some horrendous experiences with dentists in the past and was really anxious and nervous about finding yet another one now that we relocated from New York. I just came back from getting four fillings done by Dr.Ng and I am so glad I went to him to get it done. I've been to other dentists who pushed unnecessary procedures and at least one who was caught trying to perform another filing on a tooth with no cavity. This dentist is wonderful. Neither he nor his staff pushed any additional procedure on me and I never felt pressured into anything I wasn't comfortable with. I felt very confident that the work that needed doing was not only valid but would be done right. The office is great for accommodating appointments and I was able to book a Saturday appointment within a two week time-period. And yes, they do have a policy of not booking cleanings and checkups during one session but that only applies to new patients and for reasons that are understandable - I've heard of quite a few offices who have that same policy so it's nothing new. As for the fillings themselves, I can't believe that I almost fell asleep during the procedure. I didn't feel a thing (at least not after the initial needle - and they can't help that). The recovery so far has been excellent (no uneven bite, no bruising etc.). I can't recommend him enough. update - it's been about 6 hours since I left the office and Dr.Ng just called to follow up and make sure everything was fine. I happen to know that the office is currently closed so he calls to follow up on his own time. That speaks volumes about his professionalism and patient service! read more

This dentist has very poor availability...on the average one available slot per week, even one month out. Also, they can't get their paperwork together, so be prepared to jump through hoops proving you have insurance and possibly making sure the claims are submitted properly. read more

Dental office and staff seem fine. Yet, not enough staff to attend patients that they have scheduled for the day. Had to wait excessive amount of time just for a dental cleaning. Would not have done procedure if I had known the wait time involved. Also, we still had to be referred to another Dentist in the area due to the fact that Dental Ease do not have a dentist on their staff that can perform a root canal. We we had know this ahead of time, we would have just gone to another dentist to perform entire procedures. Felt we wasted our time going to this office since we waiting so long and still have to go to another Dentist that can actually perform root canal procedure. Office only good for basic dentistry at this time until Dental Ease hires an additional dentist that can perform all dental duties. Sorry Dental Ease, but the facts are the facts. read more
