I did not expect that anyone would pull out her teeth that evening. I just wanted them to xray that area and make sure that's what it was, and to give a referral to a specialist if needed. They took her in and insisted on xraying all her teeth with the vinyl ones you have to hold in place in multiple tooth areas. They then sat her in the chair and began cleaning all of her teeth including the very back molars next to where wisdom teeth are located. She was in tears at this point waiting for the dentist to review the xrays. She came over and stated there were no cavities, see you in six months. I was very confused at this point because I stated wisdom teeth on the phone, said it again when we came in and when they insisted on cleaning the teeth when she was in pain. The dentist then told me that they do not have the ability to xray the wisdom teeth area, that is a panoramic xray machine that is done standing up. She said they would writ a referral for her to see an oral surgeon for an evaluation. I asked them if they could writ a prescription for one or two pain pills to overcome her now increased level of pain from the cleaning. The dentist said it wasn't warranted for a simple cleaning. This was a shady money grab that left my daughter in more pain than she came in with. How dare you get me into your establishment under the false pretense of being able to offer guidance for my daughter. I took your referral to a different oral surgeon where they removed four impacted wisdom teeth from my daughter's mouth. The oral surgeon you would have sent us to was not even in our Delta Dental network. Do not trust this dentist!!!

A sequel nobody asked for: sloppy closure on the extraction site, infection as a bonus feature, no prescription for pain meds, impossible to reach, and billing practices that made me wonder if I'd wandered into a used car lot instead of an oral surgery office. However, I had such a great first experience with Dr. Vasanth and Paola that I have to give credit where credit is due. My first visit was just for a routine cleaning, and the scheduling + new patient forms were all quite easy to do on their website. I also received a few reminder texts in the days leading up to the appointment. From the get-go, it was evident Dr. V and Paola had taken the time to properly review my insurance plan, as they made recommendations for x-rays and upcoming visits based on my plan benefits and timing. Paola also pointed out fluoride was not covered by my insurance before asking me whether I wanted it or not for my cleaning - this attention to detail and transparency is above and beyond what I've experienced at other dentists. As for the cleaning itself, Dr. V handled it thoroughly and with a gentle touch, while consistently checking throughout to make sure I was comfortable. She has a very bubbly, friendly personality and is super easy to talk to as well. Overall, just a very pleasant experience and I'm so glad I found this place to be my team for all things dental.

After I posted my review, Mark called me and offered money in connection with taking this review down. I found that completely inappropriate and inconsistent with how a reputable business should respond. The proper response would have been simple: refund the approximately $250 they charged me for a process that never resulted in the crown I specifically requested, and let me update my review accordingly. Interestingly, they now say they are willing to refund that amount, something they did not do before. Instead of simply correcting the issue, they first tried to buy my silence by offering me money to make this negative review disappear. Every word in my original review is correct, and I stand by it. P.S. Mark also emailed my other family members to terminate their care with this office, even though they had absolutely nothing to do with this dispute and were not even aware of it. To me, that felt vindictive and completely inappropriate. Original review --- I would strongly recommend avoiding Millbrae Dental Care for anything beyond a routine cleaning. Last year, I came in with a chipped implant crown and clearly told Dr. Tsai that I only wanted a natural-colored replacement, not gold. She agreed. They removed the crown, did some prep work, and charged me $250 out of pocket. Only afterward, Mark, whom Dr. Tsai calls in for implant-related questions, told me they would only provide a gold crown. I refused because that was specifically what I had said I did not want. They kept the $250 and reattached my old chipped crown. Apparently, they did a poor job of reattaching my screw-retained implant crown, which has to be unscrewed to remove and screwed back on to reattach. Today, during a cleaning, the technician noticed that the same crown was loose. Dr. Tsai again called Mark, who told me they would charge me another $850 to fix it. So they reattached the crown poorly last time, it is now loose, and they want another $850 to essentially unscrew it and tighten it back down. If you need anything beyond a standard cleaning, stay away from this office.
