So normally I'm not the biggest fan of going to the dentist, let alone writing a review about a dentist. However, I had such a great first experience with Dr. Vasanth and Paola that I have to give credit where credit is due. My first visit was just for a routine cleaning, and the scheduling + new patient forms were all quite easy to do on their website. I also received a few reminder texts in the days leading up to the appointment. From the get-go, it was evident Dr. V and Paola had taken the time to properly review my insurance plan, as they made recommendations for x-rays and upcoming visits based on my plan benefits and timing. Paola also pointed out fluoride was not covered by my insurance before asking me whether I wanted it or not for my cleaning - this attention to detail and transparency is above and beyond what I've experienced at other dentists. As for the cleaning itself, Dr. V handled it thoroughly and with a gentle touch, while consistently checking throughout to make sure I was comfortable. She has a very bubbly, friendly personality and is super easy to talk to as well. After not seeing a dentist for more years than I'd like to admit, I was apprehensive about my first visit and all the work I knew needed to be done on my teeth. So Dr. V has replaced Dr. Z, who moved to another city during the lockdowns. Dr Vasanth is an exceptionally gentle and accommodating dentist, and she had all the prior records from Dr. Z, so there was excellent continuity of care. I signed up for her membership program, with 2 visits/year for a fixed rate, and it is cheaper and easier to manage than traditional dental insurance -- at least for me as a Medicare beneficiary. Her Staff Hygienist is thorough & efficient, and each visit gives me confidence I am staying on top of my dental & oral health. 11/10! I just completed my Invisalign treatment here and I could not be more satisfied. I was dragging my feet for a couple years and finally decided to start Invisalign (with a gentle nudge from my wife). The whole process, from the initial scan to receiving my retainers, was seamless, and they were so accommodating with checking in and making sure i was motivated and on track, even remotely during the shelter-in-place situation. Every time i went back to their office this year they had established health protocols and i felt extremely safe. I noticed a piece of my molar tooth missing and dentine exposed on a Friday evening. Monday morning i started calling at least 10 dental offices in the area to have a tooth filling done. Out of them all only 2 of the dental offices including this one, asked me if i was in pain. 2 of them tried to schedule an appointment in 10 days for a procedure that is urgent. This dental office was able to take me in the same day and by noon my molar tooth was as good as new. This dental office has a few highly skilled professionals, not just one like many other offices.. I had to write this review right now, before I forget what an exceptional and positive experience I had with Millbrae Smile Center. Yesterday evening (Sunday) my two bottom crowns (done 5 years ago by another dental group) came off and I was leaving on Wednesday for a month long overseas trip...I had only 48 hours. I have been going to Dr. Zubrow for almost 3 years now. It was crazy because I first met her when she was working at Washington Square Park Dental in San Francisco. When I started working in Burlingame, I asked a friend for a dentist recommendation in the South Bay. He recommended Millbrae Smile center where I became a patient of Dr. Zubrow's once again. She built her own practice from the ground up. It's so exciting to see it grow the past couple of years. First off, I want to talk about Alma. She is fierce and sweet and guards the front desk with a smile. It's always so pleasant to speak with her. Paul, one of the dental assistants, is a super chill guy and guards the front desk when Alma isn't there. Dr. Zubrow is highly intelligent and meticulous when it comes down to dental work. I have never had a bad dental experience with her. I came in last week for a filling since one of my old fillings fell out. I had a minor cavity develop so I was dreading coming in. I hate needles!!! When I came in, I met with one of the new dentists named Dr. Mark. He was SPECTACULAR. I told him I hated the numbing part and he talked me through the whole procedure. I literally closed my eyes the whole time while he reminded me to breathe (I hate it so much, I held my breath and closed my eyes). Once the worst part was over, my face was numb and he drilled away. It was finished in 15 minutes! One of the fastest fillings I ever got. I now work in the city but I can't get myself to find a new dentist. Everyone hates the dentist but Dr. Zubrow completely changed my mind! I haven't gotten dental work done in ages so I was a little nervous. I went to my ortho and they said I needed general dentistry done before I could start my invisalign treatment. The office recently stopped taking my insurance but I still continue to go because the value of their services/care is 100% worth it to stay. Finding a good dentist is like finding a good DJ! I've struck gold with this office!! The staff is so friendly over here, I was greeted by the receptionist Alma and the dental assistant Rita and Jay. I came here on a second opinion for a crown. Dr Zubrow thoroughly checked that area and explained to me in full detail what I needed and why. They have digital X-rays which was pretty impressive. She also had a camera that goes into your mouth and takes photos. She showed me the photos and made sure I had all my questions answered. She wasn't pushy at all! I felt that they were honest and genuinely sincere about my dental health. On the day of the appointment they made me feel comfortable and the assistant offered me a neck pillow and these dark glasses to protect my eyes. The procedure was painless and quick! Dr Zubrow is a very skilled dentist. I had several issues with a old crown and two older fillings. Dr Zubrow expertly replaced the old crown (which seemed like quite a difficult operation to me but she handled it easily) and fixed the fillings. Dr. Z is the best dentist I've ever seen! Finding a great dentist is not easy and I'm so glad I found her Yelp. After reading her 5 star reviews, I decided to give her practice a try and I'm so so happy that I did. Dr. Z is thorough, friendly, clean, and on-time and that's what I look for. PLEASE READ MY STORY LONG BUT VERY USEFUL. I have been away from dentists for about 15 years. I had an accident when I was 16 years old and broke 3 of my front upper teeth. I went to the dentist for about 6 months and ended by having 3 crowns. The crowns were not the best but the pain of the accident and the pain of going to the dentist at least twice a week for 6 months made me avoid going to dentists again. I live in San Jose and I started going back to a dentist in San Jose last year where I had cleanings and fillings, and I was thinking or replacing my crowns too as it's been long time since I had them, also they didn't look good with metal material inside, but every time I go there I feel my teeth hurt more, and I had a permanent sensitivity on one of my teeth after a filling. Also the dentist and the staff weren't friendly, so I decided not to do the crowns there. I work at a hospital in Burlingame and I decided to look at a dentist near the hospital as it's very hard to go to the appointments in San Jose from Burlingame!! I looked at Yelp for the 5 star dentists (BTW the dentist in San Jose were also 5 stars but really I wouldn't give her more than 3 stars) and I called some offices and they were either rude on the phone or they didn't have openings available in 3 months, or both rude and don't have availability. I called Dr. Zubrow's office desperately but the admin who answered me (Alma) was really nice on the phone and she asked about my first name and was addressing me by my name the whole time, and she said you can come on next week we have availability. Like the saying "I loved Dr. Zubrow at the first sight" she is so friendly, nice, knowledgeable, soft spoken and most importantly she takes good care of her patients and spends a lot of time with her patients explaining everything to them. Every time I go there I feel like I can stay as long as I want never felt rushed or unwelcomed. What I like the most about her is she is always there for you, does her best for you, listens, answers questions, and gives you options and you get to decide what's the best for you, for sure after explaining the pros and cons of everything. Also she checks on her patients after each visit which became rare nowadays. She is also personable and socializes really well and remembers everything you told her about your family, vacations, work, etc. I got the feeling that this office is my home and Alma, Paul, and Dr. Zubrow are my family. I felt very comfortable to let Dr. Zubrow do everything I need for my teeth even the scary crowns. We started with fillings, wisdom teeth extractions, cleanings, and up to whitening. Then the big event is coming "replacing the crowns" As a quality manager in a hospital I look at quality in healthcare and also in everything and the reason I decided to start with the other dental work and keep the crowns last is because I need to test the quality in the other stuff first before doing the crowns as they are in the front teeth and they have to be done perfectly. Also to compare the fillings that I had in the previous office with the fillings here. Dr. Zubrow did a great job with the fillings, although I had some big cavities very close to the nerves after she did the fillings I didn't feel any pain or sensitivity and feel my teeth are healthier. Dr. Zubrow also did a great job with a couple of wisdom teeth extractions, the procedure wasn't easy but she kept having conversation with me and was so caring and nice during the procedure. Also great work was done with the deep cleaning and restoring my gums health and prepares them to the crown insertion. I also noticed about Dr. Zubrow from a quality standpoint her great attention to detail and her knowledge, when I ask her questions she responds confidently and explains her answers in detail and also as a quality person I don't take everything as is, I do my homework to confirm and I found out that what she says is always accurate. Also she has new up-to-date sophisticated equipments. Regarding the crowns. As I told you I decided after 15 years to do the crowns with Dr. Zubrow as she took very good care of me and made me feel that I'm one of her family, furthermore her quality of work and knowledge. The crowns look supper nice and the procedure was done smoothly and very professionally. I highly recommend Dr. Zubrow to everyone, she is an icon of what a dentist should be. read more
