I am updating my review based on a private follow-up email I received after sharing my original…read moreexperience. Rather than addressing the substance of my concerns -- including unexpected pain, lack of clear communication about risks, and the need to seek additional care elsewhere -- I received a lengthy, judgmental message from Mark, the office manager, not the dentist. The email criticized my decision to leave a review, questioned my character, and framed my feedback as an "attack." One part of the message stated, "I believe all people are good hearted. They deserve respect, compassion and a conversation before attacking. But that's just how I run my life." This was particularly upsetting given that I did reach out directly to the office first, asking why I was never informed of the risk of needing a root canal. My concerns were not meaningfully addressed, and I was left to seek further care elsewhere. Framing my honest review as aggression while positioning oneself as morally superior felt dismissive and unprofessional. It is concerning that a non-clinical staff member would send a private message attempting to shame a patient for leaving a review rather than professionally addressing the issues raised. This response reinforced my decision to seek care elsewhere. I am sharing this update so future patients understand not only how treatment concerns were handled, but how patient feedback is responded to afterward.

However, I had such a great first experience with Dr. Vasanth and Paola that I have to give credit where credit is due. My first visit was just for a routine cleaning, and the scheduling + new patient forms were all quite easy to do on their website. I also received a few reminder texts in the days leading up to the appointment. From the get-go, it was evident Dr. V and Paola had taken the time to properly review my insurance plan, as they made recommendations for x-rays and upcoming visits based on my plan benefits and timing. Paola also pointed out fluoride was not covered by my insurance before asking me whether I wanted it or not for my cleaning - this attention to detail and transparency is above and beyond what I've experienced at other dentists. As for the cleaning itself, Dr. V handled it thoroughly and with a gentle touch, while consistently checking throughout to make sure I was comfortable. She has a very bubbly, friendly personality and is super easy to talk to as well. Overall, just a very pleasant experience and I'm so glad I found this place to be my team for all things dental.

I also have pretty sensitive teeth and have not had great experiences with previous dentists. Dr. Vasanth's warm and kind demeanor immediately put me at ease, and the first cleaning she did was gentle yet very thorough. I've since had 3 more appointments for fillings and each one has gone so smoothly. Dr. Vasanth and Paola are constantly checking in throughout the procedures to make sure I'm comfortable and pain free. And an additional plus, they are both so fun to chat with that I actually look forward to seeing them at each visit. So glad I've found this office for all of my family's dental needs!

Dr. Yu proceed to clean the area paying particular attention to the unhealthy areas when all of a sudden, everything stopped suddenly. Dr. Yu grabbed a piece of gauze, pulled something out of my mouth, looked at it for 30 seconds and said a tooth fragment left from my wisdom tooth extraction was irritating my gums and causing them to be unhealthy. For context, the wisdom teeth came out 15-20 years ago and numerous dentists over the years were not able to figure this out. I've even been told that I may just have bad gums and tooth loss in the future are possibilities. Pretty wild Dr. Yu was able to figure this in 2 brief visits when nobody else was able to solve this for the last 15-20 years.

During each of my visits Dr. Yu and his staff would push for an X-ray. I have disclosed that I am physician myself and I do not like to take or have taken X-rays without clinical indication. On my last visit (03/2024) Dr. Yu and his team tried again to force me to agree to an X-ray. I was told if I don't have an X-ray taken I cannot come to this dentist office again. He will basically kick me out. I repeated that I am physician and have zero indication for an X-ray. To prove his point, he took what felt like the metal handle of one of the instruments and hammered on each and every tooth of mine. This was very uncomfortable, but zero pain. He was firm that he won't accept me as patient if I don't have an X-ray taken. I have attached a summary of the guidelines from the American Dental Association (ADA) and the guidelines are very clear: 1) there is no fixed recommended frequency 2) as low as reasonably achievable 3) based on findings from patient history and clinical examination So, NO! based on ADA guidelines I do not need an X-ray. Instead of following ADA guidelines, Dr. Yu follows his financial guidelines and wants me exposed to unnecessary X-rays just to cash in. I can't recommend this dentist at all!
