I came here because how could a place with 900~ reviews and 4 stars be bad, right? I was so wrong. The calamari was not real calamari, it didn't taste like fish and looked like giant onion rings. Apparently when this phenomenon happens it means they skimped out by getting pig buttholes and trying to pass it off as calamari. The sauce for the calamari is pure kewpie mayo and a dab of sriracha. I ordered an unagi donburi (aka Japanese rice BOWL) and it came on a PLATE... with terrible tasting eel... riddled with refrigerator smell... and their eel sauce is so sugary sweet and everything was drowning in it. H Mart has ready to go and great tasting freshwater eel, even the bad-for-you farm raised packaged frozen eel is better than this. It's embarrassing when a restaurant can't beat a grocery store! The sushi here is huge, yes, but it's a giant wad of imitation crab. And it didn't even come with wasabi. Their mashed up mix of sashimi really grossed me out too - also refrigerator flavored and a very dull, sickly looking color. Also, this place must be really dirty or they don't take the trash out often enough because a fruit fly was swimming in my beer. When I mentioned the fly in my beer the waiter boy was like "umm okay... and?" There's no redeeming factor here and I will never understand the tastebud-less people that love mounds of imitation crab meat. Tl;dr go eat at H Mart instead or you'll end up with really expensive food to bring home to your dog like I did. read more

TLDR: my own opinion only-my top #1 sushi place. Flavorful food. Decent pricing. However, this small venue gets crowded sometimes due to popularity. Area: (4/5). Not hard to find parking. But this place is pretty small. They have a lot of tables for 2 people. When you come with a a big group, they stack tables next to each other. It wouldn't hurt if they expanded or relocate to a bigger venue. Dinner time, the waiting time isn't too bad. Maybe 5 minutes if you're a couple or if you are fine with sitting at the sushi bar. Just avoid normal crowded time and you should be fine. Food: (5/5). I love their food. Best sushi hands down in my opinion. I have friends that don't agree but I enjoy their sushi a lot. I've been here many many times so I am writing this review out of all the flavors I tried. -Let me start off that their rolls are big. Now small rolls cut into many pieces. More like a big roll cut into 5-7 pieces. Having a big mouth can stuff one sushi roll in. -California Rolls: Flavorful. Not stuffed wth rice. Some sushi's cali rolls don't taste like much but these definitely do. -Dragon Roll: Top notch. Again, flavorful -Other Rolls: I like all the rolls I tried and I tried a lot. However, I do ask for the spicy mayo and smelted eggs on the side. I don't like these at all (in general) -Ahi Tower/Salmon Tower: Definitely give these a try. It's basically a big bowl of sushi without the veggies and raw tuna/salmon mixed. I can't explain what's in it but it's really really good and filling. -Shrimp Lobster (I forgot full name). Fried calamari, fried lobster pieces, and some spicy sushi at the bottom with special house sauce. Well... can't say much more but this give this a try. It's about $16 for the tower dishes and averages about $13 per sushi roll. So yeah... can get expensive. I did not review and revise to save time. read more

I came here a few months ago with my friend after she raved about this place. Actually Densetsu had been on my list for a long time, I just was never able to make it up here until then. Densetsu is located near the busy intersection of Spring Creek Parkway and Coit. It's in a shopping center on the southwest corner next to an automotive place. It was kinda difficult to find the first time because there were so many places at that intersection but if you're driving east on Spring Creek, you'll see it on your right before you get to Coit. It's a somewhat small place with modern decor and flat panel TVs everywhere. They have a full wait staff as well as 4 sushi chefs all working at peak hours which I think for them is a necessity because they've been bustling with patrons during every visit. I've tried so many different rolls on their menu. My favorite by far is the superman burrito--a large "burrito" made of salmon, tuna, and avocado wrapped in rice and a rice paper sheet. It's served with 2 special sauces: a sweet spicy mayo and a very spicy ponzu sauce. Other rolls I've had were the angry john, baked salmon, ahi tower (yummy!), cherry blossom roll. lion king roll (i think that's what it was called), oh yes and the baked scallop roll. Everything has been really wonderful. I will say I was really surprised by the baked scallop roll. I think it was a california roll that was topped with a baked scallop sauce that had onions and mushrooms in it. One thing to keep in mind though that the portions of the rolls are Texas-sized. My first time coming here, we over ordered for 2 and had quite a bit to take home. Most rolls have about 8 generous sized pieces of sushi. You also get the option of ordering hand rolls instead of a standard roll. It's evident though that this place is doing really well. Each time I've been here, the restaurant has always been about 80% full. I've read some reviews that have knocked this place because it wasn't "authentic." But that doesn't mean the food isn't palatable. If you want some really fresh fish, creative rolls with artistic presentation, and friendly and quick service, Densetsu would be a great place to try. read more

I visited Densetsu this evening. Let me start this off by saying I am not a big sushi eater. I humor the wife and go with her every now and then and I try to find something else to eat there other than sushi. I will try her sushi but don't usually think much of it. Well Densetu is outstanding. I ate the sushi and loved it. We had some yellow tail which I loved. We had a shrimp roll that was also really good. My wife, who is a big sushi fan, loved it. She is excited to have such a great sushi place close to home. I also ordered a spicy chicken entree which was very good and it was a huge plate of food. Red bean ice cream sounded odd but yum is it good. Jay was our sushi chef and he was great. He made excellent food, beautiful presentation and was just fun to talk to. The only negative was Jay gave us too much free stuff and so I ate WAY too much :-) If my only complaint of a restaurant was I got too much food, thats pretty dang good. We will certainly be back and be back soon. If you like sushi or Japanese food and haven't been then you are missing out and need to get over there soon. Imagine my surprise that a place less than a mile from my house is one of the top rated places on Yelp. The wife and I tried this one evening after work. Good: food. Ordered the Superman, Dragon, and two other things. Food - great! Portion sizes are awesome. We could have done with 3 entrees vs 4 and been just fine - we were stuffed leaving. Price really wasn't as bad as we were thinking, especially considering we ordered drinks as well. Bad: service. The guy we had came to our table three times, we had to flag down other guys who were walking by for other things. Tight quarters like others mentioned. I came here a second time and had the Volcano Roll and the Dynamite Roll, and unfortunately they were not good at all.

Still love coming to this place for fresh and large portions of sushi, but service over the past few years has really gone downhill. I don't know if they even have a host anymore because I have found myself standing at the entrance for 10-15 minutes without a single server acknowledging us. I've had to get the attention of servers myself before they even put me on a list or seat us. However, once/if you get past this (it does bother me just because service used to be much better), you can't really beat their large servings of sushi given the price and freshness of the fish. A lot of the rolls have the same/very similar ingredients. A go-to favorite for me is the ahi tuna tower (unlike any other you've ever seen when it comes to its size... it's huge) and the superman burrito (if you don't want heavy sauces and just fresh pieces of sashimi wrapped inside rice). Basically, you can't really go wrong with any of their speciality/baked rolls. Their presentation always looks good as well. Very small place so in effort to not rub elbows with the party-of-two at the neighboring table, we opted to sit at the bar. The short: -The miso soup was...meh. The seaweed was hard to chew. -The roll (I forgot what I had, go figure) was superb. "Juicy fresh" (as they so eloquently listed on the menu) and good in portion size. -They welcome and send you off with (what I assume are kind) Japanese words. Good neighborhood spot. Just came back from my third visit here - a hit every single time! My first time there was on Mother's Day, and they treated my entire family extremely well and we had a great experience. The service here is stellar, you can really tell they care about the experience as much as the food. The food - WOW. My sister and I are hard to please when it comes to Japanese food, but they've certainly won us over. The fish is extremely fresh, and they sure don't skimp on anything when it comes to the portions. My boyfriend rarely raves about food, and he was completely amazed with their volcano rolls that he is now thinking about setting up a Yelp account just so he can review this place. Firstly, the portions they give are very generous for the price you pay. I think the price/food ratio is one of the best things about this restaurant. The food is great all around. I'm not a sushi guy but I've tried many of their traditional entrees, specifically their Rice Bowls, Noodle Bowls, and Teriyaki meat dishes. I personally recommend the Ribeye Teriyaki or the Tonkatsu Rice Bowl. They also have great gyoza (pork dumplings) for appetizer, and if you ever get the lunch special, you can replace the soup and salad for extra gyoza. It's no mystery as to why Densetsu is always busy and bustling. My mom doesn't like sushi, (or any kind of seafood honestly) but she will eat the sushi here. The staff is really good about recommending new rolls for the adventurous eater and quickly bringing out food. This Sushi restaurant was one of our favorite for the past 8 years. The portions were generous and the fish was fresh and prepared beautifully. Last night we ordered through Uber Eats. The shrimp shumai were almost slimy and the tiny shrimp on top had all slid off. We understand that delivery services are not ideal and food slides around and that can't be helped. They were tiny and absolutely tasteless! I didn't think they had been cooked/steamed long enough. They looked like miniature science projects. The wrapped burrito was ok and kept its shape. Another roll that we enjoyed was one of the fried rolls. It was soggy, pale actually almost looked yellow. I checked the tab to see if we were sent a different roll. It was not crunchy or even close to being fried long enough. It seemed the chef/staff was in a hurry and pulled the roll out of the fryer just to get it out the door. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Maybe they have been bought out or they were super busy but we won't be eating or ordering there again. The last 3 times we have eaten inside we noticed the sushi was not as good as it used to be. Probably won't go back or order from them again. read more

This is probably my new favorite sushi place. Not only are the rolls GIGANTIC the quality of food is great. We've done pick up and sit down here and both have been great experiences. Forewarning, if you are going to sit down they dont take reservations on the weekend and most likely there will be a wait. But I think that is a testament to their popularity. I personally loved their baked rolls but it didn't fly well with either of my parents because as you would assume it is warm and different from your traditional sushi. However I liked the different aspect to it. Whereas normally I mention the specific rolls I have tried and what I liked about each of them, this time I just have to say try everything. Out of all the rolls I have tried I haven't found one that I didn't like. And go for the cocktails because they wont disappoint you either. I LOVE this place. read more

I had a dinner with an old friend whom I haven't spoken to in 2 years, she chose this place thinking that it was a great place to dine. I agreed and followed my trail until I saw the placard in Japanese. As we both got inside. I glanced to my left and it was pack, I glanced to my right and it was pack as well. I felt like I was going to have to battle a horde of ogres because my stomach was pounding its wardrums and there was no way I am going to wait 30 minutes for this. But because of the divine intervention,the hostess whose name I won't reveal, led us to the holy grail. The two extra seats situated in the corner and directly in front of the sushi chef. It sounded gritty whenever they yell "irasshaimase" but that's forgivable. I did enjoy how the sushi chef articulately developed my Ahi Tower to emulate that of Isengard which I destroyed with my ballistic wooden stick. My friend ordered the Superman Burrito and it was in fact a burrito with fish sandwiched along the crevices of the rice. It was nicely embellished with beets(It looks like it). Lastly, I added two sushi that I should have only ordered. While the portions were great, I felt that it lacked the kick that I look for in a sushi. Yes, it was presented well but the taste didn't replicate the beauty that I saw with my eyes. It was like taking fraternal twins on a date. It was too much rice and little of the fish. The Lion King roll is also very good if you're into tempura. Ahi tower is big and beautiful and delicious. Not a lot of space inside so it's always jam packed- but gives it a cozy atmosphere which I like. Service is normally hit or miss for me. Times I've gone in and had no problems at all. Other times, I've waited a long time to get my order, have received the wrong order, or have been wrongly charged for certain things. You can expect it with young servers mixed with how busy this place gets. The owner is super freaky nice. It will scare you how positive and sweet she is- I like it though- don't see that kind of enthusiasm very often from the top. Great place overall. First of all, they are awesome for not closing during the mid-day from 2 p.m. To 4 p.m. like mostly sushi restaurants. The service was good. The atmosphere and the music were good. Now on to the sushi... Holy freaking cow! This was some of the best sushi I have ever had, and I've had lots of sushi! The rolls were soooo huge I could almost barely fit the pieces in my mouth. I ordered the Philadelphia roll ($6.25) and a salmon roll ($5.75) for lunch which are typically super cheap and dinky at most places . Here they were pretty cheap, but HUGE!!! The thing that made them so big/fat was the obnoxiously fat chunk of salmon they used. They didn't put a lot of rice or too much other fluff... just humongous chunks of fish. I have a huge appetite, and I was stuffed after those two rolls. I also had a miso soup for $1.95. It was regular sized, and pretty normal tasting- not watered down or anything. Excellent Sushi. Huge portions. They seated us quickly. Daisy was our server. She was delightful and friendly. Kept our drinks filled, and even shaped our tuna tower into a heart. (See pictures) We had an easy fun time. The sushi was quickly made and very fresh. They do not use imitation crab which is unique to this area. We also got the Godzilla Roll. This was a fried roll with crab, cream cheese, etc. and was huuuuuge! It was quite delicious. We asked them to customize both our roll and the tuna tower, which they did without hesitation.
