    Texas Size Onigiri Spicy Tuna
    Anjali T.

Was craving onigiri and found this hidden gem that did not leave us disappointed!! They are not lying when they say that these are Texas size onigiri, depending on how hungry you are, you can definitely share one of these. They have a great variety of options and flavors, and the chicken is good if you're not a huge seafood fan! The service was quick and the cashier helped us decide what flavors we wanted and things came out quickly and hot! The overall vibe is pretty cute and clean, felt like a nice hangout spot. Will be back soon!

Fun Japanese cafe in Plano that has cute drinks and tasty snacks! I actually really enjoyed their onigiri - which are hard to find good ones in North Texas! They also host car events too for anyone interested in JDM culture

Onigiris were great. My favorite was the suyaki beef! Super tender and flavorful. Both drinks had good quality matcha and blended well. Service was great as well. They took the time to explain and answer all the questions we had. I wish this spot was closer to me!

Tucked in the back corner of a building, it's easy to miss this cute Japanese cafe with its menu of savory onigiri, sweet obanyaki desserts, and variety of fruit and matcha drinks. I tried the matcha latte ($8) while my friend got the melon cream soda ($8). I liked my latte which wasn't too sweet and actually had a pretty rich, smooth, and slightly bitter matcha flavor. I would definitely recommend this spot for its matcha! However my friend said her drink was too sweet and couldn't finish it. Maybe it was a one-off. The staff member taking our order was friendly, and the space is quite large, and some people were there getting work done.

Very cute Japanese cafe which serves authentic Japanese street food like obanyaki, pandayaki (panda shaped obanyaki), Texas size onigiri and delicious Japanese drinks. The lady behind the counter was always pleasant and greets you cheerfully as soon as you walk in even if she's busy making some fresh obanyaki. Plenty of seating and walls are decorated/ painted with fun colors. They also sell trinkets and bags of ground coffee. It's a definite place to check out and try Japanese street snacks.

Yummyy!! I tried the beef onigiri, spam and egg, and ume plum onigiri and all three were sooo good. My favorite is probably the beef one - both the beef and the rice is seasoned really well! The rice to filling ratio is also perfect on their onigiri so you dont have to dig through bites of just rice to get to the filling Will definitely be back to try more stuff! Space is clean and service was friendly. I think the onigiris are made to order so it took around 10-15 mins when i went there but i dont mind the short wait bc it was warm and fresh! c:

Cute japanese cafe! Their onigiris are packed with flavor and i really liked the chili salmon flavor! Their obayanki are a sweet treat and they have so many options for drinks too!

Cute little Japanese cafe in the same compound where the post office is. Obanyaki is one of my most favorite Japanese snack. It is sweet but on a lighter side of sweet. I really enjoy it when it is freshly made and still warm. I bought the traditional red bean and taro obanyaki and got 6pcs of Shaka Shaka Pandayaki filled with Nutella. I had to wait about 10 minutes for this one cause she didn't have one available yet. My order was wrapped nicely, very fluffy and still really warm. It's a perfect sweet but not so sweet snack.

This place is about an hour from me, but I'll always make the drive, the onigiri is just that good. I also tried the karaage for the first time and honestly loved it. it had way more flavor than others I've had. I was a little disappointed they got rid of the curry bun, that was my favorite in DFW.

Had an amazing experience at Hoshi. The matcha is on point. I went a bit late and they ran out of rice bowls. I had a strawberry matcha latte and one of the best.

Hoshi Japanese Cafe in Plano,TX reminded me so much of cafes I ran across during my trip to Tokyo last year. In fact, the proprietors are originally from Japan. The products, interior decor, and vibe all scream Japan to me. During my most recent trip to visit good friends in Plano, we stopped in here at least twice and both times, I ordered their Cold Brew with Cold Foam. Not too sweet, bold coffee taste and well balanced. The sweet ladies who helped us were gracious, helpful in helping us decide what to order, and even brought out our drinks to us while we were seated. Service done the right way here.

The onigiri is packed (Okii) The yuzu matcha was amazing The gyudon was mid for Japan, but great for the USA. We loved the anko and custard desserts. Definitely a place to go if you're looking for a taste of authentic Japanese food. The hoji cha is excellent!! I will definitely go there again!

    Hojicha with oatmilk!
    Elaine M.

Absolutely love this little cafe. Besides having obanyaki (which is my favorite) they have yummae drinks, texas size onigiri, AND Okonomiyaki (which is what I got). The trouble is when you need to select which filling you want to try in your obanyaki. I finally decided on the strawberry filling ichigo an, and the hubs got matcha filling. Yum, comes out hot with a crispy texture on the outside, soft on the inside. When I saw hojicha latte on the menu, I almost fainted. This is my most favorite Japanese hot drink. I got it iced with oatmilk and it was the most delicious hojicha drink I've had to date. There is maybe one other cafe that has this that I can think of. The service here is wonderful. We will be back for the little teddy bear obanyaki. My kids would love that.

The restaurant wasn't busy at the time, so it was no big deal, but worth noting. The service was actually the highlight of the night, and earned this review one additional star simply because of the effort involved. Else it would be a 3 star review. There was only one server running the entire front of house while the restaurant got progressively busier, and only two chefs in the kitchen. Despite being swamped, the server worked her tail off. She didn't mess up a single order for our large group and kept things moving. I greatly appreciated her hard work. Appetizers (5/5): The wait for food was noticeable due to the staffing, but the appetizers were worth it. We ordered the Edamame, Yatai Gyoza, Agedashi Tofu, and Takoyaki, and all of them were delicious. Entrees (3/5): Unfortunately, the main courses were a bit basic compared to the starters. The Tonkotsu Ramen was strictly average; I've definitely had better broth and noodles elsewhere. If you are looking for the top-tier quality izakaya, Mr. Max Izakaya in Irving is hands down better option. However, you have to wait an hour for a table there.

I got gyoza and Katsu Don, and my partner got a Charashi Bowl and Red Clam sushi. The gyoza I'd say was above average and pleasantly crispy. The provided salad was pleasant with a strong citrusy ginger flavor. The Red Clam sushi had wasabi hidden underneath the meat, so keep that in mind if you're a spice baby like myself. My partner described the Charashi bowl as good, especially for the price. My Katsu Don is where I felt everything fell a little flat. It was overly sweet, the rice underneath tasted a bit stale and like nothing, and the katsu itself was a bit too moist and no longer crispy on the outside. However, I must note that it was an impressive $13, when I feel the usual is more like over $20, for a decent amount. The waitstaff brought us these lovely pre-peeled and cut oranges with the check and they were a nice touch to the meal. Overall we had a decent, pleasant experience here!

Sake toro and mendaiko cream udon were fantastic. I had no idea shrimp was in the pasta as we didn't see any. Chicken thigh yakitori was also very good. Very flavorful, but wished they would marinate it in the glaze that just gets brushed on. Salmon roll, tuna roll, and yaki gyoza were fine. Probably wouldn't order them again. Spicy tuna hand roll was good, but eat it quickly so the nori doesn't get soft and chewy. Unagi hand roll was fine, nothing special. Service was great, they quickly cleared empty dishes. My only con is the suggested gratuity at the bottom is calculated with tax included, meaning you're tipping on tax if you just check one. Hell would freeze over before I ever tipped on tax. Service can be a bit slow during dinner hours. Our waitress forgot about our salad until the end, so we ended up not getting it. She also missed that we noted it was a birthday celebration and forgot the candle, so we had to remind her.
