But..... my gosh. The dishes looked nice. My niece said her food was okay. Her cousin said his food was overcooked. My dish was trash, my gosh, I couldn't stomach the taste. The salmon was tough, tasted bad, rank. The seasoning was weird and didn't pair well. It had some kinda spice that tasted odd. I don't even know what to say about it. But later that night I was throwing up well into the morning. I only eat possibly 3-4 small bites, most of the dish was left back. I still tipped and didn't complain as I just wanted the kids to have a nice night without arguing with whoever. As I write this I am reminded of the disgusting taste. NEVER again for that dish! Now that I think about it I honestly shouldn't have tipped. Paying for that dish was already above and beyond!

My wife ordered this vegetarian squash dish and she loved it. I ordered the steak and the cook was perfect but I found the sauce overpowering. It's personal preference, I like my steak with just salt and pepper without sauce. My fault for not reading the menu correctly. The sides of purée and veggies were great. Overall KB hits it out of the ballpark and is so much better than the chain upscale eateries.

The bar area is bright and well laid out with a good mix of booths and high tables. I can't comment on the dining room as I have never sat in that section. I tend to prefer to sit in the bar area as it always seems more lively. This time, we came in to grab some drinks and grubs before catching a movie at the Landmark Cinema (my favorite theatre in Durham region). We sat at the bar and ordered the usual bar fare with a few pints of non-American beer. Their pan bread is a guilty pleasure with soft, pan baked bread sitting in a delicious mix of garlic butter, some herbs and grated parm. Yum! Their wings were on the small side but fried well with the accompanying dipping sauces (med Buffalo and ranch for the veggie sticks). It was exactly what you would expect. The bar staff were jovial and efficient and we had a great pre-movie dinner. We'll likely to continue coming here for the convenience of location and standard bar experience.

My friend had the chicken wings, and she said they were awesome. I didn't try them as I was too full from my own meal. Parking is around this business hub and there rarely seems to be a shortage of it. I have been to this area twice. The first time was several years ago when Wild Burger was still kicking around. I had the best bison burger with duck fat fries at this joint. I was sad to hear that it had closed. I recently came to pick up a takeout order from Smash Kitchen and Bar, which has recently set up shop here. It's nice to see it branch out from Markham. This area has Landmark Theatre, Goodlife Fitness, Wild Wings, Hollywood Cone, and more. There are a handful of empty business stores, so it feels like there is some turnover. It's a decent area to hang out. I liked looking at this shiny silver ball and seeing what I look like as a one-foot individual. There is also a passenger pickup-dropoff area. I didn't see anyone using it when I was briefly there, but it's a nice touch. I need to check this area out again soon. I haven't been to Hollywood Cone since it moved to this new location. It's always great to have goals that are attainable! (369)

While most of these restaurants are well established chains, there are quite a few vacant locations and even a couple of closures since my last visit here. Although I like the concept of having everything in one location, I'm not sure if Whitby is the right location for it. Its success could depend on the success of the nearby GM factory. Years ago, I worked in the nearby Oshawa Centre during a time when GM was on strike. The mall was filled with people, presumably striking workers, but nobody was buying anything. That's a fact! If you live in Durham Region, check out this place and give these businesses your support. There are more than enough places to choose from, for all ages!

It looked good, and this restaurant is close to home, and that it is in the weekend happy hour menu. So, we decided to give it a try. While Bellini's presentation was good, I found it too sweet, and I did not feel my desired booziness. Disappointed. I also ordered Mojito (2oz) - the presentation was not sophisticated, the mint was withered. Finally, I tried Caeser(2oz)- They have 3 different Caesars, and I chose Mango one as it sounded unique. Again- presentation was artless and watery. For snack - we had Avocado Feta dip. This one was good. Avocado was fresh and the corn chips tasted fresh and crispy. The size was generous. But the presentation was not impressive. Beer menu is limited. We concluded that, their weekend happy hour is a good idea. We are here around 3pm and the place was busy! But we will not come to this restaurant other than happy hours. The quality of drink (other than wine- which we did not try) is regular pub level.

Each dish has elevated twist, and the price is so reasonable and even generous for the quality. Cocktails are excellent (lots of line-ups). They also serve nice choices of local craft beers on tap. We ordered: (Food) #Cast Iron Baked Brie fresh baked brie with house-made wild berry compote, candied pecans, prosciutto, garlic crostini $17 : This served as perfect appetizer for 3 of us. Enjoyable. Variety of ways to enjoy the baked brie. #Canadian Striploin 7oz striploin, garlic herb mashed potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables: We tried different & great steak dish here before, and this one is also EXCELLENT - the on-point seasonings, perfectly med-rare. Roasted veggies and mashed potato leave its own flavour and texture with right amount of seasonings. #Stuffed Mushroom Ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms, tossed in a beurre blanc sauce, topped with fresh Parmesan: I wished the ravioli itself had more mushroom-forward flavor, and the wrapper had more delicacy (in terms of thickness and texture). However, I loved the beurre Blanc sauce - it was foamy - making the butter-ly and creamy sauce feel light in the mouth. Nice hint of tangy-ness. #Herb Crusted Salmonwith garlic herb mashed potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables, and beurre blanc sauce: The same sauce as ravioli, that matched with salmon well. (Cocktails) #Fig Fizz: With Durham distillery Gin, Raspberry Liqueur, fig jam, lemon juice, honey syrup, soda # Lavender cosmopolitan # Passion Prosecco Martini # Spicy Hibiscus Margarita All the cocktails were presented beautifully. Today's highlight was Spicy Hibiscus Margarita. (Dessert) Chocolate Espresso Martini Cake rich vanilla cake, mascarpone, house-made chocolate espresso mousse $10: Essentially, tiramisu. lol. Nicely presented. This place is versatile for us. Just for snack, just for cocktails, just for local beer, and elevated food experiences. Promising satisfying experience in each occasion. So blessed to have this place in my neighbourhood.
