This was my first time at this Denny's and I was pleasantly surprised considering I had read some of the reviews. Friendly staff. Big shout out to our waitress, Karen E! She was amazing! Denny's is your all-American diner experience. The lunch and dinner entrees are great, but this trip was for their always-awesome breakfast menu. The "Slams" are not to be missed. Eggs your way, fresh bacon, sausages, ham, stacks of pancakes or French Toast. I had the French Slam and it was tasty as ever. The thick slices of toast are sprinkled with powdered sugar and better than my grandma used to make (and that's saying something!) The mozzarella sticks were empty, the country fried steak came out without gravy, they forgot to add cheese to my hash browns as requested. Ok for your standard breakfast. Toast was not delivered with the meal and had to wait on syrup for the pancakes. Waitress was friendly.

Denny's is like my go-to breakfast establishment when I want reliable and consistently breakfast food. Where do I start? Coffee??? It took the server like 10 minutes to get our drinks... which was two servings over-roasted bitter water. JUST the way to start your Saturday morning, right? Then there was the lack of service, and worst of all misinformed management. The thing is I care less about the 20%off coupon Denny's sent me after downloading the app. The cashier claimed the coupon I pulled directly from the welcome email was a fake--but in fact It had a unique bar code that they didn't even bother scanning to see if it works. I work in tech, and the lack of training for management here needs major work, especially if they want business from millennials. Most disappointing experience to say the least. SMH read more

Food took forever. Had to ask for soup, appetizer came out after 2 of 3 entrees were brought out. Appetizer was burnt and then we had to ask for our 3rd entree which was an omelet with burnt veggies and they didn't even put cheese in it. One of the waitresses was really friendly. Ordered sirloin steak meal delivery and for the cheap price was expecting a hamburger patty. I was shocked to get a large steak with A-1 sauce included on the side. We just had the worst experience in a restaurant that I can remember, and I would not even rate it 1 star. The server was terrible, and the manager was worse because he should have extended better customer service than we received. I ordered an item off the 55+ menu by pointing to my choice and vocalizing what I wanted. We had to ask the server twice for extra gravy. We asked for a to go box, and she never brought it. My husband had to go search for one. Here is the kicker... the server brought me the regular menu item and charged me the full price. She and the manager would not fix the bill until I gave them the leftovers back. I pointed out they were going to throw them away, but that manager would not budge. So I left the box with them. The bill was fixed (a whole $5 difference), and we left mad. Way to go Dennys, you ruined a nice evening out with my husband. We have many other choices in Garner. However this particular Denny's was incredibly slow on the service even though they were very few people there. They took forever to come and take our orders, then forever to return, no water refills in between. Just generally poor service. Again, especially considering that the place was far from Full. Maybe the place was just understaffed, but either way it translated into a sub-optimal Denny's experience. read more

I'm not certain people aren't mistaking "service" for a poor kitchen staff. Our service was fine. It just took forever for the kitchen to get the food out to our server. We waited almost 30 minutes for basically a couple orders of eggs and pancakes. I'm sure our waitress put our orders in right away. There needs to be some efficiency with the cooking staff or maybe the owner just likes to keep the kitchen understaffed to save money. I walk in with a group of 5 at 2:30am, a waiter named Vanessa immediately says there will be a 30m wait. So we sit down at a table we wait for 20m till we get up and ask if they could take our order already, mind you there are 4 or 5 tables being served and the reason for the 30m wait was because they were low on waiters and cooks in the kitchen. Well 30 minutes turned into 45 minutes so we decided to go up to the front desk and ask again and this time the waiter said that we'll have to wait for a table to leave so they could finally serve us which she should've said from the start instead of saying for us to 30m. Now it's been almost an hour of wait and were still refusing to serve us so this Dennys location deserved this rating for their mediocre service. read more

We came twice so far for breakfast. The new restaurant was clean and Angel was very polite and attentive. The food quality was excellent brought freshly cooked to order. I'm not sure about the other people's experiences but we've had an outstanding experience each time we've come here. read more

Finally got a chance to check this restaurant out tonight. I stopped in two weeks ago w/ my daughter around 6pm and the wait for two people was 30 mins, even though the restaurant seemed to be lightly filled. That should have been a warning, but since I'm stubborn and since my daughter really wanted to try it, we headed back tonight. At 5:45, we waited about 5 mins and once again, the crowd was light. The waitress was reasonably attentive, but I got the impression that she was waiting a fair number of tables. We were seated in a rear area of the restaurant and again, I got the distinct impression that this is where they seat you if you have kids less than 12 since there was another family with a similarly aged child in this area and no children appeared to be anywhere else in the restaurant. I had the Turkey Burger w/ hash browns and a side of grilled zucchini. The order took a long time to come out. Not really sure why because again, the crowd was light and how long does it take to grill a turkey burger? In any event, the food was tasty, or maybe I was just hungry. My main complaint was that the side of zucchini was TINY! I posted a pic of it so check it out. I mean, it was only $1.89 but it's ZUCCHINI - the most plentiful vegetable known to man almost. The same stuff that people beg others to take in the summer because the harvest is always so bountiful. I mean, I realize that it's February, but I seriously doubt that Denny's is practicing local sourcing so I'll figure that wherever it's coming from, it's probably readily available. No need to be so tight with the portion! Other than the tiny grilled zucchini portion, the turkey burger was reasonably good, but the downside of it was that they used shredded lettuce piled high on the sandwich so after a few bites, most of that ended up on my plate. Not too big of an issue, but more of a hassle than anything. So, overall, this was a disappointing visit. I would consider going back, but probably will stick with the other local Denny's (Wake Forest Rd) where I have had much better experiences. Of course, this location is new, so maybe I'll give them a few months to work things out and head back after that. read more

Have had service troubles with this location years ago. This has completely changed. Our server (Amber) was fantastic. Even with other tables being waited on our food came hot in a timely fashion. I am handicapped and in need of a little more room at my table than most. They accommodate me without any trouble at all. Plenty of wheelchair access available at more tables than just one. This will probably be our last time at this Denny's. We've frequented this place for the past two years. There were times of great service and appetizing meals, but they were far too few. This past Saturday was the third strike. We waited nearly an hour before getting our breakfast items. I believe the manager (short, white male) came out to apologize to other patrons for the delay. He only approached us after the table beside us told him that we had been there longer than they had. We were there before numerous others, yet we got our meals last. Apparently, they had a large number of orders go through all at once. That would've been nice to know ahead of time so we could've had the option to leave. Refills only came when asked and we were forgotten and had to wait again. Still...why were we last served when we were there first? The food? This particular time, the food, was dreadful. The food wasn't up to par at all and it didn't taste good. Alas, we were too hungry to ask for anything to be re-made or to order something different. Just about everything was burned and overcooked. How does one screw up eggs and bacon? Seriously. I go out to relax and not have to cook. I don't want to wait for a long time and stress over food. If anyone chooses to go here, make sure you ask for everything you need up front because you'll have to wait a long time to get extra silverware or hot sauce or whatever it is you desire. We decided to go to Dennys for dinner. Big mistake when the parking lot has 1 car in it at 5.15 at night on a Saturday we should of drove away quickly. But no we took a chance. As soon as we sat and before we got our menus the waitress was asking us do we want to order any appetizes. We did not get a chance to look at menu first. We had to slow her down and tell her can you please come back in a few so we can see what you actually have in the menu as starters. We ordered mozzarella sticks and onion rings. The sticks came with some kind of red sauce which was watery and look at picture of onion rings there was 3 big size and some broken up burnt pieces. I asked for napkins before the appetizes because I knew it would be greasy. Had to ask 3 times for it finally getting them 15 minutes later. Had to use paper to wipe the grease off my hands. but the good thing was my burger was ok. read more
