This Dennys used to be pretty decent but the last three times I've ordered through Grubhub have been total failures even though I'm ordering during the standard dinner hour 6:30pm-7:30pm. I will no longer attempt to give them my business. 1) Ordered a featured dish but 20 minutes later (when the driver arrived at the restaurant), Denny's calls to say they only have grilled chicken so we can make the dish that way if I'd like. I say yes. They made it with grilled chicken but instead of the gravy, they coated it with liquid parmesan sauce. So order was late and wrong sauce. 2) A few weeks later, ordered a standard dish Moons Over My Hammy. About 20 minutes later, I receive a message that Denny's has canceled my order. Never charged my card. No explanation. 3) A couple weeks later, I ordered a standard dish Super Bird, they charged my card, message says they're preparing my order. About 30 minutes later, a message saying Dennys has cancelled my order. I contact Grubhub who told me Dennys is claiming they're closed. Closed at 7:30pm on a Sunday? The Dennys website says they close at 2:00am and Grubhub's Dennys site for Devonshire says they close at 11:00pm. Either way they should be open at 7:30pm. Maybe they're just doing too well and don't need my money any more so I will happily no longer give it to them. read more

This Denny's was the best Denny's out of the valley. I loved it, the staff was great, the food was awesome, everything was great. That was like 8 years ago. One day there was a new manager, new waiters, and i think new cooks because the food was terrible, the service was terrible, I decided to not return again. Today i decided to have breakfast with my mum and brother before we went on our drive and i figured some time has passed, but I was wrong. Our waitress had an attitude, mixed up our orders, did not even bring out condiments, and to top it off our hashbrowns were way too salty. I only took two bites and took the rest home. (I got the slam burger) My mother and brother ate theirs to not make a scene but, it was terrible. Denny's is a cool place to go to when you're looking for a quick meal or just looking for a restaurant that isn't too much, if that makes sense. Service is good, although there are times where your food takes a little long to be served to you. The food is sometimes either over cooked or cooked just right, it's a hit or miss but over all it's enjoyable. read more

The great thing about Denny's is that their 24/7 which makes it convenient to go anytime. Unfortunately, their quality of food is very low in my opinion. I feel like they can take it up a notch with their food choices. The customer service here was great, the staff were really friendly, welcoming, and patient. This Denny's is aesthetically pleasing--it's updated and clean on the inside, which is nice. I walked in to eat while my car was being serviced and literally stood there for 5 minutes until someone sat me. The restaurant had maybe two customers in it total--it was dead. And multiple employees passed me and didn't say anything. My waiter hardly checked on me while I ate even though I was pretty much the only person there. I have had really great (exceptional) service (always) at the past three Denny's I visited.... the closest one to here on Reseda, the new one on Sepulveda and here. I had an email, from the corporation, for a free birthday breakfast. The location on Tampa and Nordhoff refused to honor it and tried to rip me off, so I came over to this location, instead. This place is horrible I ordered a grand slam slugger over the phone I get there the manager argues that I ordered just a grand slam (which doesn't include coffee and orange juice) he says ok he will give me my orange juice and coffee but next time please make sure I order the slugger(which I did). Finally I get home and I see that they did not give me my pancakes(but did give me syrup) so I called and all they told me is I can come back pick up the pancakes today or tomorrow. read more

This one is a bit hard for me to write. There have been so many memories inside this Denny's with one group of friends. Many late hours have been spent here talking about practically anything in between. But that was a long time ago. And the hang out has moved to other locations. So when I went this morning, a big rush of nostalgia came back in my head. And reality set in of how bad this location has become. I've never really liked ownership here. It seems I'm almost guaranteed bad service when the owner is around. Shouldn't it be the other way around? This morning we were seated and NOBODY came for our order. Not a "Hey I'll be right with ya", or anything. And who sat us down in the first place? The owner, of course. I'm guessing a server wasn't assigned to our table. We eventually walked out after 30 minutes of waiting. On our way walking out, I overheard the owner talking to one of the servers as to why we were leaving. Terrible. You should be talking to us, not to your staff. SERVICE: This place was pretty packed at two o'clock on a Saturday morning, but we didn't have to wait for a seat of four. The waiter served us with a smile throughout the meal, but I wish he told us about the $2, 4, 6, 8 meals before we ordered our food. The wait for the food was quite long. I asked the waiter when he was taking down our orders if we could have split checks. He didn't answer my question and told me that we pay in the front. At the end of the meal, we took our receipt to the cashier and saw the sign "No split checks after 10 PM." Meh. The prime rib was overcooked. The onions and bell peppers were too, and they were far too oily. Maybe I should have stuck with the Build-your-own-Grand-Slam. Hey... as someone who works in the same industry, GIVE A REALISTIC WINDOW OF TIME. Don't tell me 10 minutes when it comes out in 30. I just loved the lovely experience of sitting in the wait area watching all the drunk people and potheads enjoying their food while I'm just staring at my smartphone clock. "Don't eat here! Denny's corporate needs to hire new management and cooking staff at this location." This review is specific to my experience at Denny's on Devonshire Blvd., just west of Balboa. Denny's as a company has built it's business on American comfort food at reasonable prices. In the past, I have found most Denny's restaurants to offer consistent quality and service, though never a 5 star establishment, it has been a 'go to' restaurant for late-nite diners looking for an inexpensive bite. I have eaten at this Denny's a number of times in the past, and have witnessed the slow and grinding decline with regards to service and quality at this location. My last experience was just that, my last. I will no longer be dining at this Denny's site until corporate makes some significant changes here. On my last visit I ordered a Side salad, a Philly Melt with a Boca patty instead of the beef, and a side of fried shrimp. After specifying my desire for the Boca instead of the Beef, the server repeated the order and confirmed the request. My side salad arrived and it was clear the the lettuce had been sitting in tepid water until use, as my salad had enough water on my plate to splash a cocktail. The lettuce was obviously day old with reddish color taking over, and preserved by soaking in water to be reused the following day. Sickening. The Boca Philly melt arrived, and after the first bite I realized something was amiss: NO CHEESE! A PHILLY MELT WITH NO CHEESE?! I mentioned to my server that there was no cheese on my sammy, and sat through his superfluous excuse as to why the cook neglected to actually 'melt' my Philly Melt. Apparently this Denny's location 'automatically' removes cheese from Boca orders as a consideration for 'healthy diners'. Not to call my good server a liar, but I've ordered the same dish here at least a dozen times, and never has this happen. The dish was 'repaired' and brought back. Now for the deathblow. The Shrimp. Shrimp is perhaps one of the easiest seafoods to prepare. Wash, peel, and 'de-vein'. I call it the triumvirate of easy, peezy, shrimp deleezy. If any of these steps aren't adhered to, your shrimp should not be served to paying customers. Any cook knows this, except for the cook that prepared my food that night at Denny's. My Fried Shrimp arrived, golden-brown and piping hot with a side of cocktail sauce, just how I like it. Perhaps the soggy salad and melt-less melt will be but a memory. All it took was one bite to realize that the person occupying the front-line was neither a cook, nor a shrimp eater, as the sight of a big ol' healthy vein was before me. Now for those more squeamish than myself should probably read a few sentences ahead as I tell you what the 'vein' REALLY IS, and why I was so disgusted: The 'straight dope' is that the shrimps 'vein' isn't actually a vein at all, but the large intestine. And for those who don't remember science class in 7th grade, the large intestine is home to bacteria and is the place where bowel movement occurs. So essentially, the 'vein' is the runner for the poop-shoot. I was served poopy pants shrimp. The manager 'Lucky' is lucky he still has a restaurant. How you can serve sh*t to your customers and call yourself a restaurant is beyond my understanding. One star, never returning and warning my Yelp friends is enough for me. Wanted to spend some time with my buddy so we came here with his kids. The breakfast at Denny's is pretty good, the wait time is acceptable and the service rocked. We went to IHOP and didn't want to wait an hour so we came here and were seated instantly even though the restaurant was packed. The food came out sooner than expected and the waitress was very attentive to us because we had two small children with us. She kept the napkins flowing! By far my favorite dennys to eat so far!! The food here is really good. I've been to other dennys and the food portions are really poor. This dennys gives you a big portion, and the food is always warm off the grill, not always frozen or under cooked. I got the chicken broubon with season fries and rice as a substitute. The chicken was a little dry because I didn't ask for the sauce on it, so I'd expect that from them. A con I can think of this place is it feels ghetto, people come in and out from the bathroom and don't even eat. The manger always checked up on us so we felt safe. They need to fix that cause they can lose clients with winos coming in and out, but hey! It's dennys so I doubt they'll lose business. Overall pretty decent dennys. I paid with a Visa gift card at this location that has $25 loaded on it. When I was paying that exact amount on the receipt and I slid the card on their machine they register that the card only has $20 and change on it so I told the cashier that that card has $25 on it but they still asked me to pay $4+ to complete the $25 transaction. So I went home and checked the transaction history of the card I used and it shows that Denny's charged me $25 on the card today. So why do I have to pay $4+ extra at their cashier and why did their cash register show that they charged the card only $20+ when it shows on the card's transaction history that Denny's charged $25? There's something fishy with the way they charge gift cards and they should be investigated. The same is true with Panera Bread. Someone from the government should look into this. read more

Super nice inside clean cozy atmosphere the food was sweiously so good and amazingly prepared my burger was one of the best I've ever the patty was hand formed and tasted amazing and fresh. I have had a ton of burgers from all over. This one goes on the top 5 I had the chili burger. It was amazing our chicken strip appatiser was some of the best ever I can't believe this place has better food than plenty of higher end restaurants around. Makes me want to come back for sure for another date night with my daughter. read more

It's four in the morning and 85° in the restaurant. It's horrific. I asked the single employee if he could turn on the A/C. He told me he had no access to the thermostat... that the "manager" turns off the temperature control when he leaves. The food was good but verry expensive. (compared to Norms) and portions are small. The service was good considering only one employee works the entire restaurant. He has to handle the phones, take and package the to-go orders, seat customers, run the register, and wait on every table in the restaurant. Where this restaurant fails is in it's management. Having a policy that turns off the air conditioning in the middle of August in the San Fernando valley means they simply do not care about customer comfort. And with only one over-worked, sweating employee, Denny's management clearly doesn't care about customer service either. I do have to give props to my server and the cook since they are forced to work in these conditions and still do their jobs as well as they can. On my way out of the hot humid Dennys, I looked at the restaurant's A/C thermostat... It said: SYSTEM OFF. Cheap food, good parking. The service is sometimes hit or miss. Recommend, used, and abused by all. I should have given a 4-star, but I'll have to appreciate this place as one of the few places that stay open 24/7 and have chairs for you to sit down on.
