My Hubby and I were driving from Chicago to Ann Arbor for the UM football game and we stopped at the Hampton Inn for the night. When we stopped in Kalamazoo, my hubby got the 2-for-1 Pepperoni pizza deal at the Kwik2Mart off of Clark Rd. And then IBS set in. The floodgates had officially opened. We frantically searched, desperation growing, when we saw the sign on I-94. The Hampton Inn was at the next exit--it was just like a mirage, one you'd see stranded in the desert--it was a saving grace...or so we thought. My hubby bolted to the mens room. I diverted the attention of Jan, the hostess, with flailing arms and phalanges alike, while busting out Whitney Houston, to distract what I could only decipher was 5 M-80's going off in a small room--I expect the damage was equal--but this is a Denny's off a highway. After the "dust was settled" we checked into our rooms. Pleasantly surprised; rooms were clean, carpet was a brownish hue with yellow lines which screamed---we are not in Marshall. The blood had been mostly washed off the wall and the remaining stains were hardly noticeable. Also had very nice Dollar General lamps. After binging a few seasons of Oprah, the hubby decided it was time to feast. We took no more than sixteen steps as we skipped and frolicked over their ample parking spaces and within a hop, skip and a jump we were at the modern yet classy(less?) diner which was none other than Denny's--seriously, it was a hop skip and a jump. We were quickly greeted by our waitress Briana but later learned that her name was "Bree.". We will get to that later... We were seated in the half-booth which is always awkward because you always want to face forward to the rest of the group for the ample people watching that is bound to happen. I quickly beat Jose for the seat and won but Hubby demanded to not sit across but next to me kiddy corner...almost as awkward as two people sitting next to each other in a booth--why do people do that? Do you hate looking at each other that much that you can't look at each other in the face while talking...I digress. Jovial crowd at the Denny's. One couple who didn't talk and just drank coffee and had a piece of pie--we thought that they just got into a fight and Hubby thought he could smooth it over with pie. They left--we were sad. One guy having a coffee at the front---either he was having a bad day or waiting to ask out Bree...or was it Breanna...or Briana...we still didn't know at this point. I got some sandwich that was delicious to the palette but the egg looked like a NASA experiment gone wrong--but Bree?? got me some frank's hot sauce and problem solved. Hubby ordered from the child's menu--his nickname is "child" but we didn't fool Bree. She got him a small egg with some sausage that looked like a human finger and undoubtedly 1200 calories but Hubby seemed pleased. The water also tasted delicious and came with plenty of ice cubes. Bree talks to us about the burgeoning local rap scene in Ann Arbor. I was confused because I grew up there but haven't been back in 10 years so I trust Bree on this issue...sort of. Briana brings us our check promptly...there was no one else there and she was kind of enough to put glue on the check in the shape of a heart and put glitter on it. You could tell she is passionate about what she does and enjoys crafts. We hop, skipped and a jump back to the hotel full and tired. We wholeheartedly liked the place--clean, friendly and great staff. Still not sure what her name is. Check it out. read more

The food and service was excellent. It was clean too. It's an old-fashioned Diner and the decorations are really cool. I would recommend this Diner to anyone and we got a 10% discount for staying at the Holiday Inn behind them. read more

This Denny's is my favorite of all the ones I have eaten at. It has a classic 50's Diner them, and the outside of the building looks like one of those 50's silver trailer type diners. The food has always been good here, and the service as well. It is accessible to the highway, and it is a diner I have frequently stopped at when traveling to and from Detroit on my way back to Battle Creek. read more

Who would think you'd get the most yummy vege omelet at Denny's. But you can at this one in Marshall. Their cook is great. I hotel at the Hampton and the Denny's is a short walk. Their banana pecan pancakes are also incredible. The servers are always friendly, which is so important when you're not from around the area. I'll keep coming back. read more

Not like any other Denny's you've ever been to! Excellent food and excellent service!! We stop here anytime we are even remotely in the area. Very accommodating to those with food allergies. read more

Like most people, I have been to a few different Denny's restaurants in my lifetime...and this is my favorite! It has all the same food. What makes is special is the decor. It is done in a 50's diner type theme...so cute, u almost forget u r at Denny's. We have taken several out-of-town relatives there and they always think its so neat. Foods always been good too (I mean, as a diner goes...we're not talking about gourmet meals or anything.) read more

About the best breakfast you can get in Marshall. (Kate's is solid too) Omelettes were fluffy and not greasy, while the ingredients were solid and not highly processed. French toast was thick and cooked well. If you order the red skin potatoes, they come deep fried (not the best). read more

Came here with a friend for lunch. Usually don't have any issues well this time was exceptionally bad. We waited probably 15 minutes for a refill, my lemonade was all water and when she brought me a new one she didn't bring a straw. We ordered our food and waited another 30-40 minutes for it. We watched people after us get their food and eat it all before we even got ours. I asked for extra well done eggs and they were super slimy still. I ordered seasoned fries along with my friend and she got hers and I didn't get mine till about 10 minutes after my food came, they blamed it on the fact that they only had one fryer when in reality they never actually got rang in. My friends chicken tenders seemed under done and slimy she didn't eat them, they offered to make her new ones but by that time she didn't want them. Our server never once apologized for the long wait, it wasn't until another server noticed and asked us if we were alright. The manager came out and talked to us and made the same excuse about only having one fryer on why I didn't get my fries. She did end up taking off the chicken tenders for my friend but didn't do anything to accommodate me when I had the more problems. we visited the marshall denny's recently, and were disappointed at the lack of cleanliness. it was busy when we got there, was told to find a seat. the table had not been wiped off, so i had a young guy clean it for us. while we were there, about an hour, i observed 2 different tables that were not wiped off, but incoming customers were seated there anyway. a girl had bussed the tables, then the young guy took the tip money, but did not clean the tables. the whole counter area was dirty, and food was on the floor. the food itself was great. we will come back, but if i see those conditions again, it will be the last time i visit that location. read more
