Good drinks with a nice atmosphere. I didn't have a chance to eat there but the place was full of people having late dinners.

The Stagecoach is still an unpretentious historic bar but the dining experience is significantly elevated since new management has taken over. The food is a little bit more expensive, but it's massively improved in quality and totally worth it. I hate bar food that's scalding hot and bland but every item I've ordered here has had consistent, comfortable temperature, and seasoned perfectly. They have the best fries in Marshall. Cocktails are great, and they still have their regular stuff on tap. I always have a great experience. Only note I'll add is that they recently changed their frying oils to beef tallow, with no option for vegan-friendly frying. It's limited how often I can go for dinner since some people in my life are vegetarian. And when we go to a bar you usually want some fried food, not a salad. We went here just for a drink after a big dinner across the street and we were glad we stopped in. It was a Saturday night 9:00 pm. They had live country music, Lexi Adams, and she was super. Updating my review of this establishment as they are under both new ownership and management. They have updated some badly neglected areas such as men's room. Several new tables and stools are now available for seating. Live entertainment has started improving and I hope it continues; bringing groups from out of town has significantly helped. We met the manager, John, who was a real gem and quite a professional/capable FOH manager. Recently called for reservations for 20+ people, the entire cast and production team of a professional theatre company. The staff did everything they could to accommodate our group, including moving tables and chairs, putting extra servers w/ our group and making sure food orders were prompt and accurate. Our waiter (Matt) was the most incredible waiter we have ever had. He was so attentive and friendly. Every question we had he had the most perfectly articulate answer. The food was also incredible. This is got to be one of the most singular most infuriating moments of my life: December 30, 2022: I remember the date CLEARLY. Context will tell why later. Me and three friends from high school (all women, this is contextually important), walked into Stagecoach Inn after hopping from the Copper Bar. However, the second we walk into the venue, some man at the Stagecoach calls out "Oh look, the wh*res have arrived." One friend doesn't hear, but the other friend and I choose to ignore it, as we saw some acquaintances from high school. The Stagecoach had hired a comedian- a shoddy one. We approach the group of acquaintances. They're all about our age, seem to be excited to see us- they're all clad in black, of some sorts. They had just left one of said acquaintance's mother's funeral. Continued, the awful comedian continues making lewd jokes, eventually telling a poorly-landed joke that the aforementioned group of acquaintances looked like they had all just came from a funeral. At this point, we're all planning to get out of the Stagecoach as fast as possible- this comedian that they hired is awful and is causing people to migrate from the Stagecoach as if Mike's just offered free beer. I feel badly for the server, as it wasn't her fault management let a shoddy comedian perform, but I don't think she got tipped well. TL;DR: Stagecoach hired a comedian that made jokes so awful at patron's expenses that we (a group of 3, a group of 7-8, and then some) all felt we had to leave the establishment as soon as possible. The comedian single-handedly emptied out the bar. January 29, 2025: owner/ manager messaged me and tried to convince me to remove the review. This is a legitimate review of a legitimate business. When you buy a business, the business still keeps its reputation. That's half the reason for the purchase of the business- its clientele, reputation, and connections (or lack thereof). Don't invite shoddy comedians into your business and expect people to forget. read more

The establishment is under new ownership and clearly, the Stagecoach Inn is trying to compete with Shuler's and the Grand River brewery also located in Marshall. The menu is updated and much more expensive although food portions are huge. I had the chicken sandwich with a beautiful bun topped with black and white sesame seeds, bacon, and a huge chicken breast. Truly an upgrade and tasty too. My husband had the burger, also a significant upgrade. The place has not changed much, if at all- the bathrooms need a serious upgrade and the steps to the building do too. I had the pepper cheese balls, which were not. They took a hunk of cheese, cut it and deep fried it in beef tallow; definitely a different taste from breaded cheese which has been fried. Staff were very friendly, as they have been previously. So why three stars? I came back here for an old fashioned burger and pepper cheese balls- at prices significantly less than what is currently charged. I didn't want anything above that and in fact purposely avoided the previous mentioned restaurants for that reason. Lunch for two people without alcoholic drinks was $50. I won't say that we won't be back but there but I don't have a reason to seek them out in the future, which is a shame. Finally, I realize that I'm in the minority here; the restaurant was full and it was essentially after lunch so I am guessing that most people are happy with the changes. read more

I wanted to like Stagecoach but it let me down. Yes, the beer is cold and the service was great. But my burger was overdone and frankly, not that tasty. I sat at the bar and chose the buffalo burger with the fixings and added the cauliflower on the side. Cauliflower was hot and enjoyable. I ate every bite. The burger was a not very thick patty of buffalo with LTO and pickles. Cooked to something closer to well done, it had no flavor and no texture other than tough. So I was driving back from Indianapolis to Metro Detroit and needed food asap. I didn't want anything fast food, or anything chain like Applebee's or Bob Evans. While getting gas I found this place not far from the gas station and decided to check in here to get some food. Pulling up, it's only about a mile or so off the expressway. I parked and walked inside and loved the vintage look of the place. Kind of dark with plenty of seating. The bartender, who was superb, greeted me and showed me where the menu was. I took a look at it, and there it was small, but seemed to have lots of options. I asked for recommendations and what they were known for. He recommended the Stagecoach burger basket and told me what came with it. Since I ordered the Stagecoach burger, I was enjoying the TV's and quietness of a Saturday morning. I cannot brag how nice the bartender was. When the food came out, I was a bit underwhelmed with the burger, but I finished it anyways. It wasn't bad, but it was somewhat bland. Chips were good and overall a good experience. Marshall is a cute town and I wouldn't mind stopping here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. The restaurant itself is comfortable and the servers are quite friendly. The food is right up the middle of not good or not bad. I got the fish and chips and had to wait while everyone else at our table got their food because they had to thaw the fish. They did not notify me of this until everyone else was getting served their food. Waiting to get my food literally after everyone else was done eating was a bit off-putting. I probably would have changed my order if they had told me right away. The fish itself was good, not greasy, but the fries weren't really good. Also, the tartar sauce tasted like plain mayo so I ended up eating less than half of my meal before us leaving. I probably wouldn't venture here again personally, but I will say the burgers my table-mates got looked pretty good. read more

Update - The day manager that I've been calling to try to get this eel off the menu finally called me today 5 days after the incident. She was condescending and rude when she was dealing with me. She just kept saying what do you want me to do? I replied I don't want some free fries, I want that elk taking off the menu. She said she did her investigation and the cook said that it's a whitefish the African hagfish, and I said just look it up on the internet it's an eel. She then told me that the waitress I asked for a doggie bag from and was very nice stated ti the manager that I ate every bit of my whitefish basket, which I said was a lie. I knew our waitress didn't say that to her for sure. She than hung up on me, and then called back saying look we both want this to go away and I again said I want the eel off the menu. She became furious and started yelling in a sarcastic tone ' thank you for you're service ' ' thank you for you're service'. She than was yelling I don't have anything better to do but to try to shut down a small business. The day manager is not doing her due diligence and definitely doesn't know how to talk to patrons or how to fix problems that may arise in her daily activities. She was rude and sarcastically said thank you for you're service two times and hanging up on me. I have started the process with the better business bureau due to the severity of this issue. My hopes is that this eel is taken off the menu and no-one else will have to go thru what I had to deal with from doing nothing more that to order a whitefish basket that ended up being a eel. read more

Been here a few times. The food is decent for bar food but not a whole lot of selection. They have a few local beers on tap and the pricing is reasonable. Also a large parking lot in the back across from Schuyler's which makes it convenient. The inside is a mix of tables and booths as well as bar seating. read more

This is the place people from Marshall go when returning back to town. It's one of 2 bars in Marshall that have the "Cheers" type atmosphere where everyone knows your name. Somewhat old fashioned interior with 1 tv in the back, 1 or 2 tvs at the bar and a digital jukebox. The service is ok and the food is cooked out of a small 10x10 kitchen with nothing special to add. Typical bar food. I ate the AYCE fish on Thursday and thought it was way to greasy. I had the waffle frys which always seems to be a good addition to your meal. The mushrooms and pepper cheese balls are also a good appetizer to get along with your meal. Has a full bar and great atmosphere. During most warm weather months there is normally a horse and carriage parked in front of the bar. Parking in front or on the side of the building fills up quick. I enjoyed this place. Very laid back and comfortable. A great place to catch a sports game on one of their flat screens while you enjoy something from their full service bar or have a quiet dinner with your sweetheart. Not loud but can accommodate large groups. The decor is awesome with the brick walls and wood bar - low lighting just adds to the atmosphere. What always confuses me is that reviewers compare a place like the Stagecoach Inn to a 5-star gourmet restaurant, and then suggest that it doesn't live up to those lofty expectations. The Stagecoach does a good job of being exactly what it intends to be - a neighborhood dive bar that serves mostly fried food, burgers, and things that are not particularly healthy. To its credit, a few salads and wraps are offered, but everyone comes here for the burgers and wide variety of fries. In season the chili is homemade, but most of the other soups are not. When you are here try the Coach Chips which are thinly sliced fried potatoes which come with your choice of dry seasonings like Cajun or BBQ. The atmosphere is very laid back and cool, but sometimes service can be a little slow. You will see a wide variety of people in here from families, to couples, all the way up to large groups celebrating special occasions. Overall it is a neat little place that exudes a lot of character that is definitely worth a stop when you are in Marshall. read more
