We stopped here while in the area for the winery, and we had a great experience. They were close to closing but accommodated us. It has the typical diner vibe with ample parking. The food was fantastic, and it was so quick to come out. I had some of the best liver and onions I've ever had. It was so tender and easy to cut through. The mashed potatoes paired perfectly. I also got sweet potato fries on the side, and they were perfectly crispy while maintaining the sweet potato flavor. My husband got the mushroom Swiss burger. Crystal from Denny's Lennies took our basic breakfast catering order and made it EPIC. We were feeding about 50 students and staff out at a local camp just three miles away. Their breakfast sandwiches and fresh cut fruit were AMAZING. We get catered food for our groups multiple times per year, and the simple items from Denny's Lennies were top tier!!! My husband and I recently moved into the area, and wanted to try out this place, I wanted to go for breakfast but alas, they don't serve it all day and we arrived after the fact. So we shared a BLT Grilled cheese, fresh "Williams" fries, and a piece of Snickers pie, with coffee. The fries were great,reminded me of a carny treat or a Boardwalk, and I would have liked some vinegar! The sandwich was okay, and the pie was too. It was clean in there, and I appreciated that the dining room didn't leave us with a "diner" smell like lots of places. I liked listening to the other patrons that seemed like regulars talk about life. The server was very friendly and personable. We will def be back to try breakfast next time! read more

For what it is, Dennies Lennies delivers. It's not fancy and it owns it. It has lots of options for homestyle cooking. I find their salads to be overpriced and slightly limited in options. That being said, there are some worthwhile items to check out on the menu. I got the mushroom and Swiss chopped steak off the light fare menu. It came with one side - I selected a side salad and ended up topping the salad with my chopped steak. I ordered the steak without gravy, but it came with it. They were quite busy when we visited (11 a.m. on a Sunday), so I had to remind the waitress a few times for a coffee refill, which is understandable. Coffee is nearly $2 a cup (with refills) which is a little steep. Overall, decent place to visit as long as you know what to expect and embrace it. read more

Very quaint diner that is apparently very good as being busy is an understatement... We had breakfast, which turned out to be most delicious and flavorful... The coffee was excellent, the eggs and French Toast were cooked to perfection. The portions were fantastic. No one will ever walk away hungry. Service was a little slow (probably due to the staff shortage issues currently affecting most restaurants today), but well worth the wait... Our server was friendly and attentive. My family chose this restaurant on their way back from Lake Tobias. My experience already had a sour tone when my waitress made a very off-color comment about gender-neutral bathrooms. My brother was asking if the men's-room had a changing table for my nephew. She said no but he could go in the ladies room. Then her comment was "Well, then again these days any man can just dress up like a woman and walk into the Ladies Room too!" I'm sorry, what??? Moving past the highly politically incorrect statements of our waitress before we even ordered, the food was Diner quality decent, not great and not terrible. My family raved about the french fries but I found them to be rather limp and the oil did not seem to be hot enough because they soaked up a lot of the grease. My understanding is the draw here is that the fries are actually fried in real lard. Well, that's great but if they're not properly cooked you're not going to enjoy them. I had a French dip sandwich and it was just okay. The meat was definitely overcooked but flavorful. This will not be a pic of mine if we go back to Lake Tobias, the food is okay but the customer service could use some work. read more

I wouldn't have tried this place if not for the first Yelp review, but it was really good. The ribs were tasty, the Popeye's sandwich I had was cooked perfectly and was the perfect blend of flavors. My wife had an entree that came with a tasty glutenous fresh-made roll, hot out of the oven. The *only* negative was my child's chicken tenders, which were on the dry side. We have lived in the area for about 5 years now. I wanted to try to place many times but my hubby said no way. So we stopped in for breakfast last week. Eek Methinks not. We were seated, waitress stopped by after 10 mins took our drink order and then returned for our food order. We literally waited for over 45 mins for our food to arrive. The waitress came with our food and told us they had trouble with the pancakes. Seriously, they should have come and got me and I would have whipped them up. Casual dining, informal atmosphere in a small local restaurant. Great food and service. Pretty large selection regardless of what meal you are there for. Wonderful place to go for breakfast. Lunch and dinner menu is also very good. Anything you order will be good. The coffee is always EXCELLENT. Even their decaf is very, very good. Highly recommend the Sweetheart Eggs for breakfast. Really, all of their omelets, scramblers, pancakes, waffles and all the other choices on their breakfast menu are delicious. You will not go away hungry if you have the Boubon Burger for lunch. YUM! Pick any of their burger choices, or their panini choices and you'll be happy. The dinner menu is quite large for such a restaurant of this size. Wines and beer available. Understand this is not what you'd call a "five star restaurant." If you're looking for lobster and 'top shelf' spirits, no, this isn't the place for that. It's more along the lines of being several steps up from a diner. If you're looking for just good food and a casual dining experience with a very friendly wait staff, you will not be disapointed. read more

I recently took my family (my wife and two boys) here to eat about a week ago, and let me tell you I was not impressed. I don't even know where to start, from the actual restaurant itself to the staff and the food, all such a let down. I got the meatloaf and filling combo, my wife got the reuben panini, my oldest got the chicken tenders with fries and my youngest got a kids order of spaghetti with meat sauce. Besides my ridiculous waiting time (45 min. and this was around noon) the food itself was a disaster. My meatloaf was dry even though they downed it in gravy and the filling cold, when I asked our waitress I believe her name was Brooke or Bridgett or something along those lines, how this was possible she informed me that maybe they microwaved my meatloaf too much and my filling not enough. Please keep in mind for a 12$ "Homemade" meal I was expecting my filling to be grilled and my meatloaf to taste like meatloaf and not a crumbly piece of dry hamburger, I certainly did not expect my entire meal to be the product of a "microwave station" as out server informed us and that most of the over priced food there was in fact microwaved. As for my wife's meal, the sandwich was completely wrong, our server brought out a sandwich that was part of another tables order, so she had to wait again for the kitchen to remake her sandwich and fries. My son was pleased with his chicken tenders but the fries were soggy and a gross brown color, not impressed for a company that prides itself in its fries, next time I'll get fries from the McDonalds across the street. That brings me to my biggest complaint, my youngest son's spaghetti with their meat sauce, he scarfed it down and was the only one at the table who seemed to actually enjoy his meal, until the car ride home. We live in Eliabethville and by the time I got the poor kid home he was throwing up uncontrollably, he spent the next day bed ridden with food poisoning the doctor thinks came from ingesting some kind of spoiled meat. I have no proof it came from Denny's Lennies, but its easy to put two and two together. This place has gone downhill over the past few years and honestly I recommend going home and microwaving your own leftovers before going in to this place and paying $12 for two week old microwaved meatloaf, and possibly getting sick from bad food. read more

When my fiance and I first moved to Halifax we use to eat at Denny's Lennies all the time. It went downhill from then. They have summer hours and winter hours. So, I would call and say what time do you close [because I didn't want to be rude and show up like a half hour before closing] and they would say ummm like around 9. Okay, well what is it? 9, 8:30, etc.... Another time we went around 7:30 on a week day so no customers were really in there. We seated ourselves [unless busy, then they seat you]. And we heard 3 girls literally arguing over who helped us, nobody wanted to do anything. It was rude and uncalled for. You would think they would want the tip money. We use to tip them $10 to $15 for two people [pretty much a 50% tip]. That night we heard them bickering over who had to "work". Well we didn't tip them.. Funny because a table before us, when we got there they were finishing up. Well I guess they didn't tip the girl because they were gossiping saying "omg how rude, they didn't tip me". Well, I could see why they didn't tip. Place is a joke now and it's sad. read more
