We ate there three times. I got the smothered meatloaf sandwich and it was not good. The meatloaf was a hard pressed meat block. The fries were good. The next visit I got a Cobb salad and it had a hair in it. The third visit I had a piece of cherry pie with ice-cream. It was good. The people I went with had burgers and they said they were good. The food was good, with huge portions. The service was less than stellar, no excuses. I was served my meal, and had to remind her to bring the soup that was ordered. BTW, the soup was a beef vegetable, and was outstanding! Also had to ask for one of my 3 sides that was not brought out to me. Never asked for drink refills either. We have been eating at this diner for 20 years. We are regulars and have spent close to $10,000. Our favorite meal is the chopped steak. The quality has been consistently good. The last time we ate there, the quality of chopped steak was sub-par at best. We complained to the waitress that it was inedible. Hard to cut, had lumps of something in it I could only describe as rubber. The new manager argued with me that the meat was the same as always before. I begged to differ with her but instead of asking us what she could do to rectify the situation, she kicked us out and has banned us for life. The waitresses will surely miss us as we are very good tippers. read more

I don't enjoy giving bad reviews but.....I ordered the Belgian Waffle, out came an Eggo and it was cold, butter wouldn't even melt. I've been here a couple of times and it's mediocre, it's just that it's right off the highway, quick and easy. The last time I went the waitress was working the register and waitressing, she was the only one there except for the cook. Not her fault because she was actually quite good under those circumstances. And I will say, a regular breakfast was decent. read more

They were only three quarters full and the service was atrocious. When I asked for menu after 15 minutes waitress yelled at me. That defines unacceptable. Then punished me by waiting 10 more minutes to give me menu. Only NYC diners get to yell at you. That just part of the ambience. The waffle was overcooked. Coffee was great. The coffee got the second star. I am in the area often. I won't be back. I would try eggs next time, but the waitress ensured I would never be back. Management - she is not helping your business. You always have to love the ambiance of an old-style classic diner. The food was big quantities and very tasty. We ordered the roast beef sandwich and my wife had the fried chicken. Both were large quantities and hit the spot. More than enough for both of us. Fries were crisp and the sandwich was great. read more

Can't review the food since we left before we were served. We were told where to sit while the waitress was checking out other customers. We were sitting in a wide open booth and proceeded to watch the waitress go and sit in a booth with a customer next to us and strike up a conversation. Never gave us menus or acknowledged us any further. We left hungry. Will not be looking to return in the future. read more

First the PROS.. I give a thumbs up to the atmosphere of the 50s Style Dinner! Its very nice. Our waitress was very nice, she had a great smile and was personable. The coffee was good. Cons. Service was slow, they seemed under staffed. The food was not impressive. Either by taste or portion size. The food was over cooked yet somehow still cold.? Not sure how that happens?. We ordered two piece of cake. They were the pre-made frozen type cakes. Not terrible but when going to this type of diner I would have liked to seen something hand made. Over all id give the place a 2.25 stars. To me it lacked the basics needed for 3 star. My advise to the owners. Train staff better to reduce waiting times. I mean a chili dog and a bowl of chili should not take 15 mins. Give better portions, I dont mind paying extra for a good value. Find better food. Have a local bakery make the homemade deserts. Dont put anything on your menu that's not a the best you ever had. Find better recipes. read more

We kept saying we were going to try this place on our way back South from Schuylkill Cty. The Diner sits off to the left on Rte 443 S just at the intersection where you get on 83 S. The Pine Grove Diner is a newer throwback in time diner sort of like the old trailer diners with the old shiny silver exterior and inside makes you feel like you're returning to the 50's-60's with a Counter with spinning stools the old type red booths with Formica tables! I ordered the Bacon Burger with Fries the bacon was crispy and the Burger was a fresh patty the wife ordered the Patty Melt which was served on toasted rye with sautéed onion and cheese she also had fries. The servers were very accommodating even though they were short staffed and we came in 15 mis. Before their scheduled closing (we missed the sign) The burgers were delicious the servers very friendly if you're traveling on 83 North or South and are looking for a quick meal give the Pine Grove Diner a try we did and we'll be back! read more

It's an old fashioned dinner ambiance in the middle of nowhere but right off the highway. It took over 30 minutes to get our food after entering the restaurant. Each family member had a different feelings about the food. My daughter ordered short stacks and didn't like it. My son had shrimp and like some part of it and through away other parts. My wife and oldest son both ordered different burgers one absolutely loved it and the other was not a fan. I ordered the Monte Cristo and it was my best but completely eatable. The service is relaxed with very little attention. It took a while to get a menu, then a utensils, and a white piece of paper called place mats. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The appetizers were never placed and my drink was wrong and forgot to give me a straw. Once food arrived without the appetizers the waitress checked on us once after then the check. Drinks ran out even with the free refills. This was after midnight so it's possible everything is better in the daytime. read more

I would NEVER recommend this place! Waitresses completely ignore you and orders are usually not correct. Food is mediocre. There are many common complaints about the same issues of this place but every complaint is met with rude, obnoxious,comments from the owner blaming the dissatisfied customers . Instead of addressing the problems and correcting them this pompous, arrogant, rude jerk does what he accuses others of doing! Jumping on his keyboard and degrading and assassinating the customers creditably or right to address the problems of this establishment.His ridiculous responses made to deflect responsibility for his inability to run a proper business and deal with the issues that are part of food service are shameful! He conveniently claims that all these comments and complaints are made merely to get free food but never once conceded that all these complaints of the same nature might have validity! Very nice establishment. I was impressed with the quality and quantity of food. I sometimes leave hungry from a place like this but not today. I struggled to finish all of it. I'm glad I got the coleslaw as a side instead of another main food or I would not have been able to finish at all. And for the ones that are griping about the wait time for their food. 10 to 15 minutes is typical for made to order food. My wait was about 10 minutes. Perfectly acceptable. I asked for extra things sour cream and mayonnaise and butter and got them all with no complaints. I was wholly impressed. I will definitely recommend this to friends and I will surely be going back. April 19-20,2023 I stopped at the Pilot across the street from The Pine Grove Diner two nights in a row and ended up eating supper there both nights ! Lasagna the first night and Blue Plate Spaghetti and meatballs the second night . Both meals were great and really hit the spot . The next time I get in the area I'm gonna make it a point to stop and check out The Pine Grove Diner again ! read more

My parents and I stopped here for breakfast and it was booming with business. However, it did not take long at all to be waited on or to receive our food. I ordered a chocolate chip pancake, which tasted just perfect, as well as the hashbrowns with onions, peppers and cheese (also amazing). My boyfriend and myself were waiting out the big storm this morning and needed to get the motorcycle off the road we stopped at this dinner and we were very please they were busy but the staff was still very friendly and accommodating! The dinner is like old 50s style but updated and very clean! The food tasted great the biscuits and gravy were very yummy and everything was very well priced! Great food and the service was fantastic. You can tell they're a little short staffed because things didn't go very quickly but it didn't matter at all. If you're an understanding human, you will realize that everyone is dealing with staff shortages right now and have some patience.
