Driving through the dilapidated town, we became trepidatious about what we would find. Turns out the Brickyard is a shining diamond in the middle of a pile of ordinary coal. The interior is very attractive and modern. The small plates menu is - to our DC-area sensibilities - quite inexpensive. We ordered two different bruschetta, two different cheeses, two different salads, and an order of prosciutto (for the man). Everything was delicious, and the servings were much larger than we thought they would be. We were very happy to have picked this place out and it was well worth the detour off the highway.

Great flavor, beautiful balance of sweet and acid in the port wine sauce. Lobster Thermidor had great flavor and was well seasoned. The Potato Au Gratin was not the best. It was under seasoned. The broccoli was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Daniel's Signature Crab Cakes were well prepared and clean. It was two cakes that were all crab, no filler. Overall the crab cakes were under seasoned. The shrimp mousse was a refreshing change to the dish. I could not taste the dijon cream. Overall it was a great experience. The dishes needed more seasoning.

In addition to being charred beyond well done it was also very dense.... Definitely not a coarse grind. The combination was a patty that was inedible. Ate less than 1/4. Why not a worse rating? This one takes the cake & costs the Hilltop any repeat business from us. The pictures are SUPPOSED to be of the 8oz Haddock Dinner for $18.99 & the French onion soup for $4.99. The fork in the picture is for reference only as the food was completely inedible. Sadly, we ordered it all to-go & didn't realize it was all terrible until home (over 1/2 hr away). The haddock dinner was burnt, not 8oz OR haddock & it was missing the lemon butter/bread crumb topping as described on the menu but had an abundance of paprika. I believe they switched the haddock dinner order with another paprika haddock dish on the menu - but conveniently forgot to lower the price. The French onion soup was a cup of broth. No croutons or Swiss cheese in it or on the side, as described on the menu. Sadly, this was take-out & we never looked until we got home (over 1/2 hour away). All over-priced as all inedible. Totally feel cheated. Email with pictures sent to management - received absolutely no response.

It felt wrong to order a burger at a more upscale place, but it sounded good since it had some unique ingredients together. Overall, the flavor mixture was good from the toppings but the meat itself was a little dry, so it put a damper on the overall taste. The person I was with for a pork chop and said it was "alright" but "not special". For the price, I was hoping to be impressed, but I wasn't. The Mac was good, though, as most others have said.
