The place is mid-west "bar" charming but with a wide variety of food offerings on the menu along with a specials page - so that was a bonus . Everything on the menu sounded really good - our party of three opted for the "special" stuffed shells / then off the menu the 8 oz filet and the Delmonico steak w crab topping . The Delmonico steak was cooked properly but was so tough it wasn't edible . It was literally the worst steak - couldn't even cut it - we did point it out to the waitress and she said "my manager is sorry" - to be fair the waitress asked if my husband wanted another steak but by that time the steak was such a turn-off he no longer wanted a steak - other than that - no other compensation so we took it for our dog since we were paying 39.00 for it . The rest of the food was good / nothing great but adequate . I ordered a piece of carrot cake for dessert that was absolutely dried out / tasteless and greasy frosting - just the worst cake I've ever experienced- I did have them take that off my bill . We came across this little gem by doing a search of nearby restaurants. The staff was friendly and personal . They went above with recommendation. They happily accommodate our request. I ordered the black and blue filet. It was cooked perfect and very tasty. My husband ordered the black and blue steak salad. His steak was cooked perfect and he enjoyed it. We had wings and Reuben tots. Both were delicious. As for the ambiance; the outside was very cute. The bar area look nice and comfortable. Pre-covid I would have given this restaurant a 5 star review. In the past 5 years it's gone down hill seriously. Very sad to see a great restaurant become just mediocre. Quality of the food served is not what it used to be. For the price I'd expect much better. Food was average. Drinks used to be great as well and now they're average. Service is good but wait times for the meal way too long. Very loud inside, and hard to hear normal conversation at my table because of dozens and dozens of loud groups who felt like they took over the place. We stayed in town for our trip to Rausch Creek Off Road Park. This is a small town and I really do (even before covid times) like supporting small businesses, so we stopped by O'Neals Pub. This place was great. We started off with mozzarella sticks and my boyfriend and I both had the (can't remember the name) the pub grilled cheese. This was a sandwich that had 2 different cheeses, chicken tenders and pub sauce. This wasn't the best but it was good. I ordered it more to try the pub sauce (I don't think mine had any). For drinks (alcohol) we both ordered a special strawberry drink, that's was delicious. And lastly we had the fried cheesecake for dessert, also really good. Atmosphere: 5/5, I'm biased being a midwesterner born and raised. I miss the small town feel as I've been stuck in the big city for 5 years. Hardwood, barstools, dim lighting...this is the pub feel. Noise level is low and makes for a great wind down at the end of the day. Service: 5/5, the ladies are genuine and prompt. Made us both feel like regulars on our first visit. Menu: 5/5, pasta, steaks, burgers and seafood. There are plenty of options here. My wife had the steak and shrimp with sweet potato fries and salad. She smiled on her first bite of the steak (typically only occurs with cookies). I had the cajun steak with smashed potatoes and green beans. The potatoes are country style without being butter loaded and too heavy. Hot and well seasoned. The steak was cooked properly and the cajun seasoning/jalapenos were a good touch. Beer selection is decent I got the "juice glass" with my cider. Guess the ladies think I should have picked a real man's drink if I wanted a real man's glass. Touche! The waitstaff and bartenders are the best in the area...super friendly and attentive. Active and attentive owner who rocks and is very sociable as well. We absolutely LOVE O'Neal's Pub!!we have been going there for six or seven years every time we go Jeeping up in PA and the food and staff are incredible!! Brett the chef makes absolutely delicious food, and the steaks are always consistently perfect. I haven't had a bad thing yet, and the deserts are delicious too if you aren't too stuffed to have one! The staff has always been like family and the atmosphere is very relaxed and happy. They have a lot of new faces since our last trip a year ago, but they too are incredibly friendly!! Love love love this place. Best steaks I've ever eaten in Schuylkill County. Dining is in a room back behind the bar, not fancy but very deceptive. Chef cooks food that could come from any fine restaurant in a city. Food can be slow to come out, but be patient. It is so worth the wait. This place is frequently packed on Friday/Saturday night (and it's small) so make reservations. Wait staff very friendly and the owner does check on the tables personally. Let's start: born a city boy here, going camping for my BIL second time around BP, camping at Echo Valley. I'm solo, my posse with large trailers and campers were way behind me and I needed to take a break from driving and what the heck grab a beer. I ask Siri to find me a local pub, she's says Oneals 1.2 miles away from where I was, I was like "IN!" Again. City boy here but have been in the burbs a while, so I'm used to different crowds. I walk in, was immediately greeted and welcomed by the mega-attractive staff and sat at the bar. Started chatting with a couple local folks and I'm pretty sure we are now besties. We swapped buying beers, and every patron and employee was nicer than the last. Amazing. Had a few, had such a great time and did not want to leave but alas, the boys were arriving at the campground. Fast forward to the next day, the kids went off-roading, me and my senior BILs stayed back and food prepped, then decided to take a break and rolled to oneals after I talked it up so much. Beers were perfect, excellent craft selection and the wing selection was even better. The chef came out and sat with us and explained the menu and the super wing sauces. We ordered two dozen between three of us, we finished one, the wings were cooked better than any other wing I've ever had, the sauces were amazing. The in laws and I agreed that they were the best wings we've had. THEN. THEN...... The chef (Shannon?) brings us a bowl of his raspberry habanero ice cream. Sweet, creamy delish, with a burn at the end. OH. MY. GAWD! Amazing! His talent is usually confined to the city (philly what what) but this dude cares and is super talented. Can't say enough. Our barmaids were top drawer. Top. Pretty. Real pretty. Super attentive and amazing. Then met the owner. Nice guy; now I know why this place comes together. We arrived around 5:30 on a Friday night and were surprised by the crowd. They had trouble eating our party of 7+1, as they had a big reservation saved for ~20 people, which consumed half of the dining area. Service was friendly, but it took about an hour to get our food. Prices were about what we pay at home, but seemed high for Schuylkill County, and considering the ambience (or lack thereof). I had the shrimp tacos which were very tasty, and slightly spicy. They came with no sides, which left me a little hungry. Fortunately my wife could not finish her turkey wrap, which was huge. It was also pretty good, but contained some powerful onions ( which I liked, but my wife did not. My daughter's cheeseburger came out more rare than medium, and we had to send it back. It returned cooked a little more, but she still could not eat the middle which remained fairly red. I enjoyed it. The owner came to check on us when we send back the burger, and everything else was ok. There are few choices for dining out in Pine Grove, so I'm sure we would return here the next time we were visiting relatives in town. read more

We were in town for the Topless For Tatas, Jeep only breast cancer charity event and were told by everyone this was the place to go for dinner. And they weren't wrong! Our table order the filet w/crab, salmon and scallops and crab entrees with various sides. The filet was awesome - rivals any Morton's or Ruth Chris we've ever been to. And the scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly. For dessert, we had the bourbon apple pie homemade ice cream. This was the best ice cream I've ever had! It has chunks of actual apple pie in it! Note: you have to be 21 to have it because there is a lot of bourbon in it. But the good thing is that the bourbon is not overpowering - you can taste a hint of it and that's all. And the service...awesome! Friendly, knowledgeable and perfectly timed food presentation. The only thing we were bummed about is that we couldn't come back the next day - they're closed on Sundays and Mondays. If you're anywhere near this place, definitely come by for dinner. We were in the area and looked on Yelp and discovered this great pub. Don't let the outside fool you as it seems like a house but when you open the door it impresses. A charming yet sophisticated feel to the bar area and on the way to our booth there were two leather love seats facing each other for good conversation. On to the food. My daughter and I started with Irish wings which were potato quarters deep fried and tossed in any wing sauce you like. We chose the homemade Pub Sauce which was excellent. We then ordered their fish tacos which were on special. My daughter and I are big fish taco fans and this did not disappoint. The fish was light and the salsa was a little bruschetta like and very tasty. I should have asked for hot sauce but it truly needed nothing more. My wife had the crab cake sandwich which is her go to move and it came through with flying colors. Finally we split a plate of Irish nachos. They were French fries covered with ranch dressing, cheese, and bacon. It was a little light on the bacon but the ranch was underneath the cheese which was unique and excellent. Our waitress was excellent. She said the scallop meals were local favorites and they seemed to have several seafood options. The Guinness on tap was a perfect compliment to the fine foods. We definitely would eat here again if we ever travel through Pine Grove in the future. read more

I've been a customer to O'Neals Pub since shortly after moving to the area 5 years ago. The food is great(I'll be honest, it's great now but throughout the years and a few cooks they had some off times), the atmosphere is probably the best in the whole area that I've experienced. The owners and staff are courteous and prompt. The dining area can get quite full so if you're going on a busy night you can call ahead. The only downfall I can think of is the small size of the kitchen and on busy nights (and this place can sure get busy!) it can take a little bit longer than normal to get your food on these nights (normally this happens on an event at Rausch Creek and the off roaders come here for the evening plus all the "locals".) The food is a little more expensive than other local locations as pointed out here, but this pub is also a step above the normal Schuylkill County pub. read more

Owner or Manager checked on me and asked how the Primavera was. Advised I thought there was too much cheese used in dish, no other seasoning, bland. He replied, "next time you come in ask for 'light cheese.'" SERIOUSLY. The bartender was very nice, checked on me regularly. Two stars are for the bartender otherwise it would barely be one. We made the mistake of trying to have a girls night out at this pub. We tried to reserve a table ahead of time, but was told because it was wing night that was not possible. When we got there they were plenty of tables available in the back and I requested to give my name but she said would come and find me. When she did we were seated at two tables that were put together with the wooden stools in the front near the draft door that opened about every five seconds. This could be a really long review but I'll cut to the chase. Service was extremely slow, not personable, if you weren't fast enough ordering whatever you needed to order she would skip over to the next person. It was very cut and dry, not friendly no suggestions were made etc. I requested a drink on the rocks and basically got about half of a teaspoon of the liquor in the glass. The waters were not refilled, our proper utensils, dips etc. We were not brought food together. Half the table got their food ahead of time and then it took forever, probably 45 minutes for us to get wings, on wing night. They didn't clear anything even if they did come over to see if we needed anything else. The bills came at separate times, picked up at different times and made correct change at separate times. I'm told the food was really good on other nights and the service was good. If I based my opinion on tonight I would not go back. We usually give restaurants a couple chances, I don't think I would go to this one again except other people that I trusted told me that the food was good. I guess I'll try to go again, just not on wing night, hopefully they were just shorthanded tonight and busy and the service will be better another time. The food was decent, if not a bit greasy, but it was fried apps. The cheese fries were bad, not enough toppings and server seemed miffed when we requested the sauce that's clearly described on the menu-saying they didn't come with sauce. It is a pub. If you don't want that, try to sit in the back. We were only offered the pub menu so I guess that's part of the difference. And the noise. And the service. I'm quite sure there was room for six of us in the back. Had I known the difference in menu options, I would have stood my ground for a table back there. Oh well read more

Loved the place. Girls at the bar were friendly and welcoming. I would have scored it a 4, but my dish wasn't great. When I walked in, the aroma was of fish/seafood. I chose a crab cake/shrimp feature. I normally would never choose seafood from a place like this. It tasted fine, but once you've had the real thing (MD crab cakes) nothing else compares. I thought maybe ... Next time I'll stick to either beef or chicken. I will definitely stay more often on business in Pine Grove, now that I know about O'Neals. The owners are very interactive with the customers always making sure you have what you need and happy with your meal. I have never had anything on the menu that I'm dissatisfied with. Well, this place ranges from a little-to very unexpected. Approaching from the outside one could easily think, small town watering hole where food may be secondary. Forget that! The menu was very creative with a lot of choices and many not expected on a pub menu. Items were sizable portions, but most importantly, delicious. From the apps to the entrees, everything was excellent. The service was also top notch, Lynne was so friendly and knowledgeable! Really only one disappointment to mention, we live 200 miles away. Place is split in half with the very loud bar in the front and the comfortable dining area in the back. I ordered the Broiled Haddock with green beans and steamed veggies ($18). It was good, but nothing memorable in terms of ingredients or seasons used. I fault myself because I should have followed the KISS rule. Keep it simple, stupid! Burgers, wings and anything fried are safe picks. I did get to try my friend's order of Fried Asparagus which is highly recommended. It is a pub after all. I would have given it 4 stars, but the waitress kind of swooped in to take away my plate even though my friend was still eating and we were engrossed in conversation. This is bad server etiquette. Wonderful pub found while traveling along Rt 81 this weekend. We love trying to find local spots to stop and eat when traveling and were thrilled to find this place. Truly incredible food! I ordered the Black Forest Steak. It was melt in your mouth delicious. I enjoyed every last bite of it. And I would highly recommend it! The vegetables were cooked to perfection, and I also had a yummy baked potato. The service was that which could rival Ruth's Chris! My server Jenny, was attentive and helpful. She made me feel like part of their family. I had numerous people stop by my table to make sure my food was cooked properly, tasted great, and ask if I needed anything. It was so warm and inviting there. I am from out of town, so to find a hole in the wall place, with such amazing food was a complete blessing! I loved that the owners were on the floor with their servers. I asked Erin for directions & suggestions, and a few other questions and she took the time to sit with me and give me some local options.
