Never been a big fan of Denny's Restaurants, but a waitress Dulin S at this Denny's on I 5 in CA has to be the worlds most amazing waitress!!! My husband and I were passing through heading south on I5 in CA on Christmas Eve about 9pm when we decided it was time for some dinner. We were pulling a 5th wheel and Denny's looked like the best place to pull off that would have a place to park our big beast. We were greeted and sat the minuted we walked in, Dulin S was our waitress, she was so sweet and efficient. Got our drinks right away, took our order and the food came just about as fast. Yes it was hot and dam good! Dulin S seemed to know when we needed something and there she was. While watching her in action we noticed she was training other employees as well. I truly can not say enough about her, she was amazing. Thank you Dulin S for making our Christmas Eve a dinner experience to remember! You have to be the sweetest most efficient waitress we have ever had at any restaurants. If you happen to stop in at Denny's in Gustine CA make sure Dulin S is your waitress, you wont regret it! My visit was a couple days ago and I've been debating whether or not to write about my experience but I'll definitely never be eating here again so why not. My mom and I walked in and were asked by the host to wait 15 minutes for a table to open up, we agreed and sat at the waiting booth. After waiting about 7-10 minutes a group of 5 white males walk in and they were spotted by a waitress and were seated immediately. I was so confused. I looked at my mom, she looked at me and all we could think is the obvious right? They're white, we're brown (Mexican) they get seated first and we're still waiting for a table. What else were we supposed to think besides that this was a racial thing. I didn't even want to eat there anymore but my mom did so we waited another minute and the host tells us our booth is ready and as she's walking us over I ask her "Is there a reason why they were seated before us?" And she said that the waitress who seated them didn't know that we had been waiting first. Yeah sure, sounds about white. Anyway, I guess the host told the waitress that I was upset and she came to apologize to us and told us she'd waive our drinks for the inconvenience, I thanked her but honestly I was too upset to care for her apology. Would she have apologized if I hadn't of spoken up? I doubt it. I'm sure it would have just been swept under the rug. I wasn't going to write a review I was just going to shrug it off but if I stay quiet about this how many other people of color will they allow this to happen to? read more

Then our waitress had to leave our new waitress came they said shes in charge of our meals. Denny's #8791 this one, first we waited in line but that's not an issue and we get inside server took my order right away it's nice at first but later she came back saying my order is out. I change my order later she came back again saying order is out, still smiling at this moment, I order again they had me seat waiting for each order, only server yet again saying they're out. If your sold out why not let your customer know ahead of time, I don't understand why have me wait for each order that is out. Horrible experience especially when your hungry and been in the road for awhile. Then utensil is dirty or dried mashed potatoes on it. read more

The environment was crazy. The back asked the radio be turned up incredibly loud, which impeded table conversation. Lots of clanging dishes...unnecessary noise. In sum, it did NOT make for a relaxing break from a long day on the road. read more

Normally a Denny's is a Denny's, but this place is really nice. After being stuck on the road with a confused and angry toddler, its good to be treated like a human being and not just a customer. The people here were nice to her, nice to me, and nice to my wife. It wasn't overly busy, but it wasn't empty or creepy either. We got a great deal of attention from our waitress and the baby got to keep the desert menu. I was especially impressed when the waitresses put down the plates out of reach of the toddler instead of right where she could grab it and put her hands within my food as so many other places seem to do. They took the time to know better and they cared. That means a lot to a father who cant remember the last restaurant meal he had that didn't have "baby hands" as the final added ingredient. read more

Does anyone need to be reminded that this is a DENNY'S?! As in you should come to expect less than mediocre service and food. Also this is out in the middle of nowhere and probably has its share of travelers on a daily basis. Order what's on the menu and keep it moving. I'm not sure why folks expect more than that. We stopped here on our way home. I know the deal. There isn't going to be anything extremely healthy for me here, but it's a hell of a lot better than starving and taking it out on some motorist out on the road. I ordered the Fit Slam : two pieces of turkey bacon, an egg white omelet with tomatoes and spinach with a side of fruit (a mini fruit salad for me). The waitress forgot that I wanted the fruit instead of the english muffin but ended up getting both. They cater to our need and the waiter even made joke. He totally made our night. A lil laughter is great after a long drive. Our food was great unlike what the other review said. They were out of most of the milkshake flavors, we had to ask for silverware, and everything took forever (ordering, drinks, food, and getting the check all took a very long time). The food was fresh and prepared to perfection. The women's restroom was presentable except for a couple messy users. Nothing gross. Only odd thing is there isn't a mirror in the restroom. This Denny's is atrocious. Shouldn't matter if it's on I-5 or not. Try to at least do the job or get out. Hosting was OK, not crowded; but the food is Terrible. I ordered meatloaf with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were runny, they looked like soup! The tea was made with the crap well water which smelled and tasted like rotten eggs from the sulfur. We stopped in about 7:30pm. We were seated quckly and put in our drink orders. They brought all our drinks except my wifes water. Then took our food order. Finally my thirsty wife recieved her H2O. We waited awhile for our food. While waiting I noticed a differant waitress in the kitchen teaching a cook how to make what we ordered ( It appeared the main cook was the gentleman we saw going on break as we walked in.) So at this point our waitress was picking up her slack on the floor and delivering her food to guests. We started receiving our order one plate at a time. Mine was missing toast. Sons burger was a little over cooked but good. Wifes and son #2 got sandwiches with burned  bread. And the youngest of the bunch, my daughter didn't get her steak. (Waitress gave and excuse). My daughter ate fries off wife's plate waiting. We were all but done eating when her steak finally arrived. Steak was cooked perfectly (Head cook has returned at this point to save a sinking ship). We finished our meal. Full bellies. Paid our $75 and headed to our car to get back on the road to finish our drive back to SoCal. I would like to let other travellers know.
