It really is simply just a truck stop. The bathroom was filthy, smelled unhygienic, and clearly needs some repairs. The samosa chaat was quite good although it could've been a bit warmer and had some tamarind chutney. The naan was also quite tasty. The paneer however was a bit disappointing. Other than spiciness (that I requested), flavor was lacking. I had to add a decent amount of salt. If I didn't go up to the cashier at the end of eating, then I would have never gotten my chai. The chai was premade in a giant container and was ok. Service was lacking and the cashier had headphones in the whole time and had people waiting for him to come take his order at the front. read more

I stopped by on our way from last Vegas to San Jose and so glad to found Indian food on the way as we were craving for it. The restaurants itself is very basic with few tables and chairs and self order option. We were able to find seating after few minutes but the order took some time as they were busy on a Saturday afternoon. But our order of roti, kadhi pakora, paneer bhurji, chole bhature was delicious. Been here a few times to bring food home. We typically pick up a few orders of garlic and plain naan. A couple orders of basmati rice and butter chicken. We also really enjoy their samosas. The samosas are a nice size and the filling is plentiful. Service is typically nice and fast. This place is quite a gem. Very unsuspecting but such a pleasant surprise. Last time we visited I noticed they now have a small mini store inside that have few essential spices, etc. They even have frozen items. Parking is plentiful. Me and my friends thought LA had good Indian food but this place is flavorful and its quiet ambience is quite nice to eat in. The wait for food was not too long and we ate inside; it was served in these platters that were good and made it feel authentically Indian. We ordered the butter chicken and the chicken curry (32 oz) and the paneer bhurji (16oz) and it was good to feed 5 people (along with rice and naan). The naan is soft and airy! The garlic butter on it is not overwhelming or underwhelming, it's perfect! The rice was cooked perfectly! They were so nice and welcoming. The place isn't fancy. But it's clean. The food is one of the best Indian foods we've had. The samosa's and the sauce were so yummy! Samosas were hot, fresh and crisp! Oh, and the paneer was so good too! Loved it! Well. Didn't expect to find such excellent Indian food at a truck stop on I5. But I did. Thanks to my daughter who rejected traditional road trip "cuisine" in favor of paneer tikka masala. We braved the trucks in the parking lot to find friendly folks who welcomed us and served us delicious food. I really wish this place was near my hometown so I could eat here regularly instead of on road trips. Based on our selection I'm sure everything is good, but we can speak to the paneer tikka masala and samosa chaat as excellent - best we've had. The Bartha and matter paneer also great. The only ding would be the ambiance, which is more truck stop than fine restaurant- but this is an exit on I5 - what were you expecting.? We got skeptical first looking at the location and restaurant interiors, it's also a grocery store, but ignore all that. Focus on the amazing delicious food. Karan took our order. He was very polite, hospitable and courteous. He fulfilled tons of our requests promptly and made great recommendations. Food was piping hot and tasted fresh and delicious. We ordered kadahi paneer, daal makhni, garlic naan and tava roti. Everything was yummy! Restrooms were separate for men and women and were very clean and new. My mom and I were on our way back from Merced and was looking for a place to have lunch. I saw that this place had good reviews and was not disappointed! We got lost at first and ended up at the Mexican grocery store up the street (thanks, Google Maps...) but it was just a block further down CA-33/Santa Nella Blvd. Even though it was lunch time on a sunny Saturday, there was only one other party besides us when we showed up. We chalked it up to this being at the far end of a rest stop in rural CA and took a seat. The menu has a fairly long list of vegetarian curry dishes (some of which I admit I had to Google) and a few meat curries. My mom got the butter chicken while I ordered aloo gobi and peeli dal, and we split two garlic naan (the menu only lists a single variety of "naan" but our waiter asked if we wanted plain or garlic, so of course I had to go for garlic). I also asked for water and the waiter provided us with two bottles of water (charged as a samosa on our receipt, which was fine with me). We were given two disposable paper trays and plastic spoons, which didn't look like much...but the food came out hot and fresh and looked so good! I thought everything tasted great and the curries were very flavorful. My mom prefers her butter chicken on the creamier side, but I thought what we got was fine. We ended up ordering two extra garlic naan to go because we had leftovers and it came out quickly while we finished our meal. The prices for the same items are similar/a bit lower compared to the Bay Area. I'd happily come again if I ever happen to be in the area! read more

I was looking for a stop along I-5 freeway that wasn't fast food and found good reviews for this hole in the wall. I expected minimal ambiance, but hoped for great "home cooked" Indian food. I got the lack of ambiance, but also the food was also quite disappointing. The flavors were not typical and very lackluster. The chicken tikka didn't taste like any chicken tikka I have ever had. Very odd. The samosa was ok and had good crust. The chicken curry was watery, had very little flavor, and had subpar chicken pieces. The flavor was quite bland. The rice biryani was ok. It was more like rice with a few vegetables lightly stir fried. Very little flavor, but kind of spicy. The food is served in typical containers, but the plates are paper and the utensils are plastic. You order from the counter and the person at the front was unhappy and looked liked her parents were forcing her to work. The restaurant itself was very dirty as were the bathrooms. It appeared to have been a Mexican seafood restaurant and still has all of that signage and decor. It was very odd. I'd say pass this place and grab yourself a burger instead. read more

We've been hooked on the food at this place for the past few months. The first time we visited was purely by chance--we were just looking for Indian food. The second time, we made a point to stop by, and by the third time, it became our go-to spot during a camping trip when we craved good Punjabi food. Now, it's a tradition: whether we're on Highway 5 or 152, we make a stop here before heading home or to the Bay Area. The people who serve you are incredibly kind, and the food is as close to authentic as you can get. What makes it even better is that they grow much of the vegetables and produce they use in the restaurant themselves--it's as organic as it gets. This time, we visited for breakfast and ordered four parathas with yogurt, butter, and tea. The portions were so generous that we couldn't finish them all and had to bring some home to enjoy for breakfast the next day. On my way back home from work, my brother was craving Indian food and asked me to stop by Taste of India. He said the restaurant was really good and was located in the back of a store. I stopped at the store, went to the back, kitchen was unoccupied. The clerk said they moved location. She looked out the windows and pointed at a blue building. After entering, I realized, Taste of India just moved in and they're in the process of remodeling the restaurant. First time at a new restaurant, I always order multiple dishes. Can't judge a new restaurant with 1 dish. Chicken Biryani - Really good. Chicken was tender and moist. Cooked perfect. Rice absorbed all the spices. 4.5/5 Chicken Tikki Masala - My favorite of the 3 curry dishes. So much flavor and spices going on in this curry. 4.2/5 Goat Curry - Love the spices in this dish. Fall off the bone tender. No gamey taste from the goat. 4/5 Butter Chicken - I understand why people like this dish. It's buttery, it's savory, layer a few spoonfuls over rice and you're set.
