Just left this place. I was dissappointed the moment the person started to seat us. I have a disability which should have been obvious since I was walking with a cane. The person took my party ahead of me to the very back of the restaurant. I ordered the country fried steak with cheddar mashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes was cold so the cheese they put on top never melted. The waiter did replace those,but then I tried the broccoli and that was cold as well. The steak was warm and dry,it was not freshly cooked. I was very dissappointed. The only thing I ordered and was suppose to be cold was the ice cream. Oh and there was no 2468 menu on the table,nor did they offer it. We saw the menu on another table after we ordered our food. read more

I ordered the sirloin and it came as I wished for it to be cooked but for some reason I found the yolk of a hard boiled egg in the middle of the dish. My sons pancake is sitting on the counter for 30 mins i keep on asking the server if it was ours and i had the no words. They keep on passing us without checking how are we doing. After that the other server gave us the wrong food i ordered salmon i was given a toast with egg. 1 hour later our food was served. If I could give negative stars I would. This place is terrible. I tried to order one of their breakfast skillets and I was told the didn't have anymore potatoes, so I decided to go with a ham steak breatfast instead then I was informed that they didn't have that either. So I just went with a grand slam. My food came and they had scrambled my eggs when I asked for over easy and I got sausage instead turkey bacon. Then the bill came and it had items on it that we didn't order. The waitress was very polite the whole time and fixed it for me (I wish she could have gotten my order right). Then while I was waiting to pay my bill I see a man who looked to be in charge (came in with supplies and walked to the back). Came here for the usual late night Denny's fix when you're craving some food but feel like sitting down instead of driving thru. Our waitress was very friendly and took our order quickly and accurately. Food was delivered in a timely manor. I had some type of omelette skillet that was so-so at best. I also ordered some blueberry hush puppy like pancakes which were surprisingly good. The price for everything was reasonable and because of our good service (the place was completely empty [11:00pmish]) I have to give it four stars. The omelette could have been much better but when you need some greasy food late at night it did the job just fine. I definitely don't reccommend this location if you are afraid to be out and about in the "not so nice" parts of Escondido as it isn't in the nicest location. Denny's always seems to be hit or miss and while I didn't win the lottery here I feel like it was a much better than average experience. Would give it a 3 1/2 star if I could just cause of how meh my omelette was but because the waitress was really friendly and took good care of our party I will bump it up and throw the 4 star. read more

My family loves Denny's, but not every location is the same. It can be a hit or a miss and our experience with this location was a hit. Even though the restaurant was packed, we were seated quickly and our waitress, Lynn, was super sweet and helpful. My husband and I have two young daughters (2 & 3 years old) and she immediately recognized our youngest was on the verge of a meltdown (you know kids... Stuffed to starving in seconds) so she immediately got her some grapes, juice, and placed our girls' orders to make sure they wouldn't have to wait a long time for their breakfast. Lynn was attentive and realized my husband and I were exhausted (we're currently here for a family reunion and traveling with toddlers is stressful and frustrating). She checked up on us regularly, filled our coffee cups frequently, was cheerful, and was a breath of fresh air when it comes to customer service. Next time we're in Escondido, we know where to stop :) read more

Brought my boys to enjoy a much needed mommy sons day out.. The food was alright nothing special it's Denny's.. The waiter was nice and courteous. the reason why I'm giving them a 2 star is because of the manager or owner himself.. The whole time we were there he kept yelling at the employees and complaining about everything. He made it really uncomfortable for us. My boys asked me more then once why he was being mean to those people.. For my Lil once to notice that should tell you something.. on our way out my son asked him for quarters to play on the game as he was the only one at the register.. He completely ignored him so my son came back to me..I was extremely upset so I told him we would go somewhere else.. the manager then said "come here boy" with a mean look on his face and an obvious attitude.. We walked out.. He was so rude.. You would think that out of all people he would be the one executing excellent customer service and being an example to his employees.. Went in there yesterday while waiting for order our waitress Rosa stops by table to tell us our food is in the window well 3 minutes later she comes back with just a coke in her hand . Then I begin pondering did she tell me that food is ready so I can pick it up . Because upon her return she just had a coke in her hand she could not carry 2 plates and a coke???? Then I see her talking with another waiter for 4 minutes and then she brings drinks to table next to us. Then 8 minutes goes by then another waiter who got tired of seeing our food in window delivers it and not once did she come by after that to check on us oh that is right she came to refill drink and drop off check when meal was complete. My visit to the Denny's on Mission Ave. in Escondido, CA late last night/early this morning was hands down the best Denny's experience I've ever had. After spending a majority of the day in Escondido tending to personal affairs, I was planning on taking the last commuter bus back to downtown San Diego; about a 40 minute trip. Long story short, for reasons beyond my control, the last bus never came, leaving me stranded as it was around midnight and too late to really call anyone for a last minute rescue mission. My girlfriend suggested that I go to a Denny's to ride out the wait and be able to have coffee and eat something if I wanted. This was a great idea except that again, for reasons somewhat beyond my control, I had left my cards somewhere other than in my wallet leaving me eithno financial means to pay for a meal. No problem, said my girlfriend, I'll call and tell them I'll pay over the phone or purchase a gift card. Amanda, the waitress that answered the phone, told my gf that Denny's did not go transactions over the phone, but if I were to come in, she would pick up the tab for my food and drink. I went in and was immediately greeted by Amanda. She let me know that she had me covered and to make myself comfortable. I had about 50 cups of coffee :) and a gigantic strawberry sundae she prepared herself. Amanda was friendly and professional the entire graveyard shift that she was working despite a constant stream of customers, hungry people fresh from various bars, and random people wanting everything from use of Denny's front desk phone to 'using' the restroom over and over for whatever reason. My coffee was never once cold or less than half full and the sundae was perfect. I'll definitely be going back and wouldn't hesitate recommending this Denny's location to anyone. read more

Ok, so I've been to this Denny's plenty of times before and though it's been crowded before, particularly on holidays. The service today, (President's Day) was truly awful. I can't even blame it on the service! We were seated and given our drinks in no time flat, but it took 40min to get our food!! Totally unacceptable. It's a Denny's so you kind of get what you expect. I have rarely waited for a table. Servers can be hit or miss. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes to get a refill on a drink, but I've often waited for my meal with an empty glass on the table and no one paying any mind. read more

Today on 12-26-2016 I went into Denny's in Escondido with my family. It was very busy (Understandable) Our food took 45 minutes. Didn't get checked on once. Server finally came and apologized and said she would talk to her manager. Waited an additional 10 minutes. I had to get up tell the Server to please pack our food To Go. Waited a little longer. After an hour of waiting/watching everyone around us receive their food I decided we were done waiting. I walked out only to be followed by the "Manager"! Saying we already packed everything up. I said I didn't want it. I was upset with having to wait additional time after they had clearly realized how long we had been waiting. She went back and forth with me as to Why! Then she proceeds to walk away and mutter "Karma". I tried to call in my breakfast order at 5:30 am on 6/21/18 it is a Thursday. When I arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes later the waitress told me she forgot to turn in my order because someone walked out on her check. I had to wait for my food but still tipped her $3.00 on a five dollar total. I asked her to turn my order in next time before she goes chasing someone down the street. I said I will see you next Thursday and she responded with "I DOUBT IT" rude but I tried to overlook it since she was having a bad day. Fast forward to 6/28/18 Thursday. I tried to call in my order but on one answered. I have Bluetooth in my car so I kept calling all the way over there. When I arrived she was rude. Real bad attitude. I asked her why she was not answering the phone and she picked up the receiver and showed me she had a dial tone. I called the number again and proved to her it did not ring. She is very smart. She did not want to deal with me so she turned off the phone ringer. I wonder how much door dash and other delivery services they lost out on. Something needs to be done about the lack of management at this store. I did not bother to call the manager to complain as I believe she is the problem. I will find another spot to get my Thursday breakfast and never go to this location again. Food is good but service sucks. read more

For starters, 8 tables for 1 waitress is not unacceptable it's rude, especially when the assistant manager AND the manager were working and seemed to be doing "busy work" in the mean time my wife and I waited at least 7 to 10 minutes for our order to be taken, we felt bad for our waitress. Once our garden salads, fruit, iced tea and water had been ordered, it took an additional 7 or so minutes for our order to get to our table. Our salads were covered with a heap of cheese and the obligatory croutons. As I was eating what can only be described as barely palatable I began to dine on my fruit cup. The fruit was ripe with one grape being particularly squishy, I left that one for the disposal. Our waitress was not too attentive but did her best with the tables she had to cover. My advice here for the managerial staff is when your waitress is obviously overwhelmed with tables, step in and lend her a helping hand. A salad should be a medley of colors cabbage, carrots and cheese add color to the iceberg compliment, put the dressing on the side so we can either pour or dip. Croutons are so 1960's leave them to the birds. Overall this Denny's has an outdated look and z e r o ambiance, an upgrade to the managerial staff as well as the restaurant is needed. read more

Cindy, We came in for some food after a performance last night, 11/22/14, at around 11pm. I was not really hungry but I ordered some food anyway. I feel bad taking up space in a restaurant and not eating. I ordered a vanilla shake and grilled cheese sandwich about 10 minutes after arriving. You served my friend his shake, then brought our food. I thought maybe you missed my milkshake order or forgot, so I thought I'd mention it. Your comment was that the shake machine had to be cleaned and you hadn't had time. There was a bite in your tone and I was surprised because I didn't think I had been impolite, just wanted to verify it was coming. 30 minutes later you brought my vanilla shake. We had all finished our meal except for a few fries. I have to admit, at this point I was annoyed. I said something like "you can't just bring that at the end of the meal" or "but its the end of the meal." You responded again with something like, "I couldn't bring it earlier because the machine needed to be cleaned." You were rude in the way you said it. It was past midnight when I got the shake. I didn't say anything else. I didn't drink the shake. I don't mind if you are busy and are behind and can't bring something on time or if you forgot it. But I do mind the attitude and I do mind if you intentionally made me wait an additional 30 minutes after I inquired about the shake order. You kind of soured my experience at your restaurant. I was charged for the shake. I didn't say anything. We paid our bill. We paid a tip. But I will never eat at your Denny's again. read more

I went to the store on mission Ave in escondido tonight after a long trip home. Amanda was the only server there. I had gone there many times before. Tonight for some reason I couldn't get a second cup of coffee. Amanda jokingly asked if I was disturbing other customers out load from ten feet away. I ordered one meal to eat there and another to go. After ten more minutes and watching her serve others coffee and a visit I sat alone without assistance. I was seated at a booth in the very front. I moved to the register area and asked for my food orders to go since I couldn't seem to get service otherwise. Amanda gave me a " whatever" shrug, never offered an apology for her lack of service. I stepped outside to my vehicle in front to get my phone and noticed what appeared to be her joking with another patron about my situation. The patron, a buddy or someone she knows, seemed amused and was enjoying what appeared to be a good laugh at my expense. Embarrassed and humiliated I left. I will never patronize that store again. I will Lodge a complaint with corporate as well. This has never happened to me before in 60 yrs of my life. read more

i have only done two reviews ..this being my second...first being a dude at a golf course snack bar who was rude and irritable...that being said i have to just say this...the service was very ice cold and the "manager" is in the wrong field. for the first time in a long time i went to have a bite to eat alone and i felt just that...alone...not like a waffle house where they want ya'll to come back you hear? i doubt i'll ever go back...the " manager" was just short of oil to grease his robotic joints and the waitress ...wait did i have one? fridged...i think she said she was busy eventhough it was dead...whatever! the reason and only reason i am going through this is because i'm dissappointed in the service and sense of hospitality one should get when going to have a late night bite to eat. dont have to engage conversation just make them feel welcomed and that they did not!!!!
