She was absolutely amazing--friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. Although there was a long wait for our food, Rebecca checked on us frequently, kept us updated, and made sure we had everything we needed. Her positive attitude and excellent customer service turned what could have been a frustrating experience into a pleasant one. Had to check the front door first. Yes, they were open. We were the only customers for half an hour. Never did get much attendance. This Denny's used to always have an excuse why they didn't have the nationally advertised "Slams" at the same price. Now they "get you" on the coffee although they do now have a $5.99 Slam. Quality of prep is up to about 90% of what you would expect from a Denny's. Breakfast for still came out to over $50. (Typically $30+ elsewhere)They killed this business with insufficient labor over the last several years. (Opinion) Even so, their scrambled eggs beat several of their more successful competitors even today. read more

I've been going to Denny's for 2 or 3 years now the waiters (judy, chris and angie) are always nice to my mom and I. They always have good food my favorite things to get are the mac & cheese skillet, bourbon chicken skillet and any of the omelets. read more

Clean, nice employees-I don't know why this place has such a low rating-if you have EVER been in a Denny's before- you know EXACTLY what to expect!! They do a great job here!! It's not gourmet food! But it's good!! I had the grand slam-and it was soooo much food! I had to bring the pancakes home! My friends had the crepe fest! And they loved it!! I tried a bite of the crepe- and it was delicious! I am going to get that next time! They had strawberry it had a cheesecake like filling and was perfect not overly sweet! It took about 40 mins to get our breakfast nothing special (eggs, bacon, sausage and toast). The food was ok but the bacon was paper thin, the sausages were the size of a baby finger and the waitress for got my toast. The meal was not worth the cost of time and money. In addition to calling the health department, I thought I'd warn you fellow Yelpers about this horrifically bad restaurant -- Denny's on McCall Road (Rt 776 in Englewood) We arrived around 12:30 p.m.. No one came to seat us for some time as there were only two waitresses for the lunch shift and it was crowded. First, I want to say both waitress were doing a terrific job trying hard and working hard to service the too many tables they had to service. Despite the hardship, they were friendly, professional and helpful. Management may be the ones responsible for understaffing. There were three of us and upon unwrapping the silverware we found two forks encrusted with food and all three knives had food stains on them. I grabbed two other silverware setups from the open table behind us and only one fork and knife weren't somewhat useable. Again, the waitress was attentive in getting to us quickly to take our order. The 'food." Everying served us was cold. A breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage and, a biscuit I cold have use as a substitute for a hardball baseball. An order of mozzerella sticks was undercock and cold. An order of chicken strips was overcooked and the chicken tasted like fat, not chicken. Also, it was stringy as possible having been frozen, thawed and then refrozen and thawed. Not sure, but it tasted greasy chewy. A side "vegetable medley" looked like a soggy mass of something and had a rotten oil smell. These were not edible as the grease was dripping off each piece of yellow squash and the other veggies. To add insult to injury, the prices are ridiculous. I understand costs and prices have risen, but $14.49 for 2 eggs (cold and runny), 2 sausage (cold and hard), 2 pancakes (cold and undercooked - how do you undercook a pancake?) and that infamous rock-like biscuit is inappropriate to be polite. I will never eat there again, just based on the lack of care to keep the place clean. And this, most likely, was not an isolated incident as I saw a review here from July 2023 that noted the "greasy fork, knife, table, chair, salt shaker, ketchup bottle... Basically - this place NEEDS TO BE CLEANED... And, for G*D sakes, DO NOT USE THE RESTROOMS - UHG!!!!!" Those same exact conditions existed on our visit two days ago in November. read more

I was in a hurry and stopped for lunch, I was greeted and chose to sit at the bar. Service was very fast. I ordered the Cookie Dough Pancake breakfast plus an orange juice and it all arrived quickly. All of the food I was given tasted very good. However, I was a little surprised at the amount of icing smothering the pancakes, it was way too much. The food is good and the wait staff is great but the hostess is very grouchy. We've been here 2 weeks in a row on Sunday after church and it's the same lady. She doesn't smile and she acts as if she doesn't like her job. No smile. Not a very warm welcome. I'm sure it's busy but kind of off-putting and not very welcoming. For some reason this time around my food was not that good. My burger was kinda cold and my cheese was not melted all the way. My seasoned fries were really good but it was disappointing eating my burger. My family ordered pickup and when we got home we saw the sides that we ordered and it was a kids portion, barely any side potatoes or hash browns. The interior is great, and even the food isn't half bad. I come here occasionally because it is the only place to eat that is open late and because I LOVE the oreo shakes. This is where the BUT comes in.... being this is the only dine in option without driving out of town to a different Dennys or location, me and my friends do spend a lot of money here. My main issue is consistency. I never know how I am going to be treated. Sometimes they are nice but most of the time it always seems like they are struggling or annoyed. This location has a hard time keeping staff, and there have been times where I tried to place an order over the phone and no one answered. So I would drive up there (expecting it to be busy) and there are only a few people inside and they are simply ignoring the phone. Or I see a bunch of staff outside smoking (which is a huge turnoff of appetite) I feel if they got consistent staff who were friendly this could be a flourishing place in the heart of englewood. There are days when the experience is good, but the fact that I have had so many badd experiences that its 50/50 when I go is disappointing. I hate leaving low reviews, but if this can help them change I am willing to write it. I care about the employees, and my dining experience. With a few changes in behavior and more staff I don't see why everyones experience both employees and visitors wouldn't improve. Wish you guys the best! The owner of this Denny's in Englewood should be ashamed of himself. This is Florida and it had to be over 100 degrees inside. There has been no a/c for weeks. The waitresses were as professional as they could be. Slavica did a fabulous job as some customers were about to pass out. This is employee abuse, and no indication on the entrance that there is no a/c? The owner should be made to work in that restaurant until the a/c is fixed. Every time I went to this Denny's, the wait staff got worse. I went there the other day with a friend who just want to accompany me for breakfast, we were surprised that there's nothing less than $10 for her. She was 'forced' to order just something. Then she googled Denny's menu online and found out that they advertised value meals for $5.99, something that she could have been happy with. When we asked the waitress where this value meal selection is on the menu, she said it's a separate menu that we had to ask for. It's a blatantly deceptive policy to hide this from customers. That'll be the last time I'll go back to this Denny's or any Denny's. For their price I can have breakfast anywhere. read more

I just returned from the most amazing BLUEBERRY PANCAKE BREAKFAST which included 2 Big BLUEBERRY PANCAKES, 2 EGGS (any way you like them) 1 BACON, 1 SAUSAGE, and GRITS or any kind of POTATOES that you want....all for a bargain price! My husband and I eat at the Englewood Denney's often. It is well lit and the food is fresh. We have never gotten a bad meal (6x+ a month) except once and it was immediately redone. The service is slow but worth the wait. They have trouble getting help. Prices have increased but so has everyone elses. read more

Horrible food, expensive for the bad quality. I dont remember the name of the sandwich I had, but the picture on the menu and the description made it sound pretty tasty - turkey, bacon, tomato and melted swiss cheese on toasted sourdough. I imagined a greasy, cheesy, melty piece of happiness. Hard to mess up, right? Well, the sandwich was tiny, there was a minimal bit of melted cheese stuck to the otherwise dry bread, one slice of tomato the size of a silver dollar, 2 or 3 super thin slices of processed turkey meat and two very small strips of bacon. The whole thing was not even lukewarm and had no flavor whatsoever. It looked like a sandwich a 5 year old would put together. The saving grace was that I got to pick fresh fruit as a side, and it came in a tall ice cream glass and was very good. No complaints about the service, but be warned: when entering the restaurant, there was a strong urine odor in the foyer, and inside there was a moldy smell that was so strong that I had to apply some perfume I found in my purse to my nose. Now you may wonder why I stayed: I was absolutely starving and had stopped at two restaurants that turned out to have 45 min waits. I was desperate, and this Denny's was the only place around that was nearly empty. That should have been my warning! No stars! read more

The service takes forever and is terrible. Portions are extremely tiny, and apparently at this Denny's location the customer is not always right & customer satisfaction is not important. My parents had each ordered the 'Senior' breakfast & each got served the tiniest most minute, stingy, small amount of eggs. The meals they each received wouldn't feed a small child. The waiter first used the excuse that my parents had ordered "the Senior meals" as if to imply that seniors don't get served much food on their plate whenever they order a senior meal at Denny's, then his next excuse was that the the type of hen eggs they use there are "extra small teeny tiny ones" so therefore what is put on your plate is a teeny tiny portion. After my parents had complained about the inadequate amount they were served the waiter took forever & eventually brought out only just one more lonely egg on a plate & put it in front of only my father, but didn't bring any more food at all to my Mother ---what the heck??!! My parents vowed they would never eat at this particular Denny's store again. My parents have eaten at many other Denny's locations all over the United States & have consistently been very satisfied, but this particular Denny's location in Englewood Florida was very poorly lacking & a big disappointment. read more

I was disappointed this visit. I took my grandson in for breakfast. We were seated right away, there was no one in the seating area, just 2 gentlemen at the bar area. We sat there for around 5 minutes, an older couple came in and was seated 2 boots down from us and the waitress went right over to them to get their drink order, we still have not even been acknowledged. Another older couple came in and was seated right behind us and a different waitress came over and brought coffee and talked for a couple of minutes. We have still not even been acknowledged. I waited about 3 minutes and was about to get up and walk out the waitress was talking to the couple behind us and she stepped over to our table to finally take our order. My grandson got a kid's menu with no crayons. I understand these couples are regulars, I consider myself a regular as well, just not daily. Went in there for mother's Day. Many tables were dirty with dirty dishes. Dirty bathroom and long lines. Left immediately.

As soon as you walk in you are hit in the face with the stench of MOLD. Looked up at the ceiling and sure enough - mold so thick a few of the ceiling tiles were literally fuzzy, right above the hostess station. That cannot be safe to breathe in. Get your act together Denny's, you should be ashamed! This place needs to be shut down until the mold situation is under control. read more
