Real Texas BBQ in southwest Florida - Finding great bbq in Florida can sometimes be a daunting task, I've eaten lots of bbq and consider myself somewhat of an bbq aficionado having enjoyed bbq across this great country, every region has their own unique and different styles so believe me when I say all bbq is not created equal. Texas bbq has always been at the top of my list after traveling and working in Texas for decades and experiencing what I think is some of the best on the planet. I admit my expectations were pretty high long before I walked through the door here - just from the exterior and interior ambiance I immediately knew these people are serious bbq people and some of the friendliest you'll ever meet. In my opinion eating bbq should be an experience yes the meat preparations are of the utmost most importances but the sides, and desserts also have to be on point as well and of course fresh brewed tea. I wanted to try it all which is not reasonable so I read the menu, scanned the daily specials board(s) and also considered the recommendations by our wonderful server. We enjoyed some great sandwiches and sides and couldn't of had a better lunch during our drive through southwest Florida. Chopped Brisket Sandwich - the bun was fresh and toasted perfectly so it held up to the sauce that I drenched on the beautifully smoked meat, the lean to fat ratio was absolutely perfect and the smoked flavors came through making this one of the best bbq sandwiches I've eaten in a very long time. Pulled Pork Sandwich - the perfectly smoked pork was piled high and very lean, this is a big and delicious work of art. We ordered the sauce on the side so we could control the portion and it worked out great. Pinto Beans - these beans are cooked down until they melted into the smooth and creamy broth that was filled with onions and jalapeño peppers - these are a must try especially if you top them with some fresh raw onion and a few dashes of the Tabasco Pepper Vinegar table side the only thing I regret is that I didn't get a quart of these to take back to the campground. Fried Okra - Crispy deliciousness a southern delicacy served with ranch dressing, this combination is never a disappointment when done right and they do the okra right here. It was nice to get pickles and raw onions on the side, in my opinion if a bbq joint misses this step they don't understand what a bbq experience should be. We really enjoyed our meals here and appreciated the hospitality from the staff, great food, great service all at a reasonable price is always a winning combination, this is definitely a place I hope to return to soon... read more

Such a nice and helpful staff. Loved the food and the dessert was amazing! We had a party of 6 and they were very accommodating.

This is a rustic little gem. The outside is just like an old Texas barbecue and the inside nothing fancy, but nice polite server with great people skills. My wife and I split the chopped brisket sandwich. They actually cut the sandwich in half for us. They have a sweet barbecue sauce, a medium barbecue sauce and a hot barbecue sauce. The hot barbecue sauce will definitely get your attention. They were all delicious. The brisket was moist and tasty. Probably the best brisket sandwich I've had in Florida. We also got two sides, smoked green beans and jalapeño pinto beans. both my wife and I loved the smoked green beans. The jalapeño pinto beans were delicious, but my wife wouldn't touch them, She's a sweet, no heat type of BBQ girl. The food was delicious. Took my grandbabies for late lunch. I'll admit, this place doesn't look like much (it's really the only restaurant in the area!) but the food speaks for itself. This is one of the best barbecue spots this Meemaw has been to in her time. The pulled chicken sandwich was very yummy and homemade Mac was delightful. All of my grandbabies were happy with their tasty dishes and left with full bellies! My grandkiddies liked that you could see the workers cooking your food in the open space. What a gem! It was Valentine's Day evening and we were in town and didn't have reservations for anywhere. We stumbled into Texas Best BBQ and it was incredible. The food was delicious and service was super friendly. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were met with the scent of smoked BbQ and everything tasted as delicious as it smelled. Finally, a true Texas pitmaster in a sea of wannabes. The brisket was the real deal. My wife had the St. Louis ribs and I had a taste. They were also authentic. The tater salad was very good. The only thing I didn't care for were the onion rings. Bob, the owner is a nice friendly guy and deserves your business. We will definitely return. I just wish I could eat BBQ everyday. read more

This is hands-down the BEST BBQ my boyfriend and I have ever had! The ribs literally fall off the bone, and when I asked if they had a sweet BBQ sauce for my pulled pork sandwich, they actually made one for me--it was incredible. I would gladly make the 4-hour drive every few months just to satisfy a craving, because nothing else compares. And don't skip the homemade banana pudding--it's a total game-changer! Everything was excellent! From the service to the food to the atmosphere! First time here and looking forward to many more. We had the baby back ribs fall off the bone tender, seasoned well and with minimal sauce but they put more sauce on table if u need it. The sides of corn bread, which is more of a corn pudding/bread and collard greens are some of the best I have tasted in any of the bbq spots from Fort Myers up to Englewood. We actually got it to go, but we got some barbecue chicken and some barbecue brisket. We got collard greens, coleslaw, and mac & cheese, and cornbread. The mac & cheese was good. The cornbread was really good. My boyfriend really liked the barbecue sauce, but I was more of a fan of the smoke taste of the meat. Both brisket and chicken were fabulous, both so tender and juicy and delicious. The order came up very quickly and was accurate. I had high hopes for the Klobasa sausage as this is a family recipe that is made by Geiers in Sarasota, and smoked in house at TB_BBQ. It was tasty and spicy which I was not expecting. I ordered the collards as they seem to be awesome by several Yelpers. This too was spicy, but flavorful. I don't really care for spicy BBQ or collards. I need the real deal right from the smoker without maming my taste buds. The tots and onion rings were very good. Now the let down.......... the baby back ribs ($5 up charge) were very meaty but tasted like they were oven cooked first and an after thought for the smoker. There was no discernible smoke flavor at all. I expected some awesome smokey flavor. For a BBQ place, this is a huge letdown. Geroy's BBQ Food truck has better tasting ribs than this. Now the biggest hit is to the wallet........ The 2 meat, 3 sides and a tea came in at $48+ without the tip! My meal was not worth this kind of money so needless to say, I won't be going back for these ribs or the Klobasa. I may go back and try the brisket and chicken to see if I just happened to order the wrong items with expectations for that great Texas smoke flavor in ribs. read more

Let me tell you what, did Texas Best Barbecue ever deliver! It was the best Barbecue we have ever had, no joke. I don't know where to start or end there is so much to great stuff to talk about. From the first phone call until it was over was incredible. The owners were the nicest most genuine people in the world. They set up everything at home for us. Supplied everything! We had brisket, pork, chicken, kielbasa, ribs, cole slaw, potatoe salad, corn bread, banana pudding, choc cake, key lime pie, lemon tea!!! I know I forgot some things too. Everything you could think of at the catered bbq. I seriously don't know how to explain how good it was! We had it catered for 25 but easily fed many more and we all eat a lot. We had a lovely carryout experience from Texas Best Barbecue. For starters (and most importantly) the staff is incredibly friendly and warm. Yes, the barbecue is great but the kindness of their staff is what stood out to me the most. Despite being extremely busy, they took the time to greet everyone with TX hospitality...in the heart of Florida. We ordered a little bit of everything for our carryout dinner. Each of our meals came with two sides. In the end, we had brisket, smoked chicken, pulled pork, mac n' cheese, cornbread, coleslaw and greens. All of the meats were juicy and packed with flavor. All in all, we ordered three meals which ended up costing a little over $100 after the tip which seemed a bit salty given no drinks, desserts, etc. Would I return? Most certainly - the food was great and the customer service was excellent. Just note that it may cost you a pretty penny per head for a laid back experience. read more

We have tried several places in the last year we live in Venice and have been very disappointed with local bbq. Great Barbecue spot! We recently got take out from here and we all really loved the food!! The corn bread was excellent and we all loved the ribs and pulled pork!! They were the perfect amount of smoky taste and tender meat! We also got the smoked chicken and it was moist and full of flavor! The sides here are great as well-the macaroni and cheese was soooo good! We really loved the collard greens too!! We also had 2 types of pie to share fir dessert-both were great!
