We took a drive down Dearborn St. on "Black Friday" and decided to stop in for lunch. The setting is great! Outdoors, under the big ole' tree is a great place for people watching. We were seating right away. Service was a bit slow, but not painfully slow! We had drinks - bloody marys... I didn't care for mine, but that's just personal preference. The "not spicy" was too spicy for me lol. My sister enjoyed hers! Food was good. I asked for my burger medium-well and it came out more medium (LOTS of pink). Brunch with family brought us down to this Bistro. This was post Ian so lots of businesses around were closed, but you can tell right away this place was not one of them. You don't check in with a host, but stand in the parking lot in a line until it's your turn to be seated. There are cars pulling in to the lot and leaving so be careful! We were seated outside, there was a small commotion behind us as the ladies received their bloody mary meals!! Once I saw that, I instantly knew what I had to do! We've been here before, spotty service especially when party of more than two. Went today with my wife, 92 degree Florida summer, and waited outdoors beside the 'DO NOT STAND ON RAMP' sign. Server came out from the building, passed us by with a nod, and proceeded to visit a table, then another, and another--then cleared a table (we thought might be for us) AND THEN. returned to another table of 6 to take their order. We weren't in a hurry to eat, we just wanted a seat out of the blistering sun. We gave up after 17 MINUTES and, needless to say, will NOT patronize that establishment again. With all due respect to the thoughtful servers and struggling businesses in the food service industry, I gotta say a little effort allocated to situational awareness pays big dividend. I am vacationing in FL and met a friend who lives in the area that wanted to try out this place. We had gone to the Ringling College Spring Open House and arrived at Blue Pineapple Bistro around 1:40 pm. Karen had parked in the parking area right next to the Bistro but it looked full so I drove around half a block and found a large parking lot which appears to be available for the Dearborn patrons. Surprisingly no fee, and it even has its own restroom facility, map, and pathway to Blue Pineapple. It was Saturday afternoon and the deck was full with patron enjoying the day, live music. We were told we had to wait since no seats were available. I noticed that no patrons were sitting inside and we were to wait outside on the bench, so I walked to my car for a sweater and returned to discover we were already seated inside. Service was too quick for us as we were chatting, lots of choices, and hadn't decided what to eat so our waitress had to give us more time to decide. I was seriously contemplating the chicken taco but had really wanted the tator tots as a side and hadn't had a hamburger in quite some time, so chose the Basic Classic burger which did not disappoint in the least bit. Karen chose the Coconut shrimp appetizer dish for her lunch which she said was tasty. We had noticed the entire deck had cleared out, the musicians gone, and the servers cleaning up and placing chairs away. Our waitress had asked if she could close out the bill as it was 2:25 pm. I asked for a box as I still had half of the burger and more than half of the tater tots, and asked if they closed at 3 pm or 2:30 pm. Come to find out they close at 2 pm. After apologizing for delaying them, paid the bill quickly which is great since they bring the credit card machine to the table. Cute, casual ambiance. My French toast was very dry. The bread was not soaked in the egg mixture long enough l. It was basically toast. My biggest pet peeve from our visit was the lack of service we received. It is definitely a unique place,a little hole on a wall with a great idea of the giant Bloody Mary's. We were there on the Saturday after Thanksgiving,and the place wasn't crowded but it had an even flow of patrons. It looked like there was only one server,so the service wasn't super fast,but it was a beautiful day and we were happy to sit outside. I ordered the shrimp and Pineapple Bloody Mary,it was delicious. I also ordered a shrimp chiveche with flat bread-that was the perfect combo. Rest of our party had the grilled cheese,cheese burger and the antipasto Bloody Mary. It is truly am experience!!! Love Dearborn street! Many restaurants on the strip. Husband and I went for the bi weekly car show they have all year long Small turnout so decided to grab some good food. As we searched Yelp for a spot to brunch, we came across a photo from one of the businesses that made us head right to this place. HELLO LOADED BLOODY MARY's!! This Bistro is located in a small, very laid back town in Englewood that seemed to be off the beaten path with shops along the side streets that all close at 3:00 PM. Granted, this was a Sunday, so the hours are most likely shorter. When we arrived, there was plenty of parking available. The restaurants outside deck sits under a big oak tree with little lights surrounding the deck area where all the tables are set. After we waited our turn to be seated, we sat directly in front of the live music performer and his guitar. Of course, the guy played great, had a good voice and we enjoyed it, but oh man, WAY too loud. We could barely speak in a normal tone to one another. Now, on to the ordering. They have many Bloody Mary's to choose from. Their pictures on the menu don't do it justice. There are SIX different Bloody's to choose from. Now choosing which one is the hard part. There's Antipasto, Bagel with Cream Cheese, Grilled Cheese, Everything Fried, Shrimp and Pineapple, or the Cheeseburger Slider. You better be hungry because you don't just get one skewer. You get two with whatever you ordered, and another with three strips of bacon along with a good sized pickle. This thing is a meal itself! I ordered the Antipasto and my boyfriend had the Shrimp/Pineapple. When these bad boys came out, I couldn't believe the size. The glasses reminded me of the beer steins they have at the Oktoberfest in Germany. They were rimmed with Tajin seasoning to give it extra flavor for the ones that want a little spice with each sip. My Antipasto was layered with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, ham, artichoke, green olives, pepperoncini and at the very bottom a piece of crispy bread. Now get this, you get a side plate of Olive Oil and balsamic vinegar to dip the bread in. Wow and Yum! The Shrimp skewers had large spiced shrimp with sliced pineapple, topped with green olives. We LOVED these. Our breakfast/brunch that we ordered was just as good. I ended up with the Avocado Toast with egg and I added on the bacon. This was SO good! I am definitely ordering this again the same exact way. I like my eggs over easy over avocado spread. D-lish! My boyfriend chose the Lox. This was an open faced cream cheese bagel with lox, tomato, onions and capers. He modified his, so it looks different in the pictures. He really enjoyed his and ate every bite of it. Overall, we had a really good experience. Sure, the music could have been a little less loud and the service a little more attentive, but this was well worth the ride here.
