First trip to Cheddars for lunch. Ithis spot is somewhat upscale and has a pleasing atmosphere. My waiter Sharon was a perfect example of helpfulness and friendliness informing me about the menu for both lunch and dinner and what was popular with her customers. This was the first time for us visiting here. The hostess was warm and friendly. Our server was nice and timely. We were happy with the variety of the menu. Our table had three different entree's. The were good, but forgettable. We had steak, chicken and fish. Nothing was wrong it was just there. I was waiting for that taste or aroma to say wow! I want this again. Everyone around our tables did not ask for a box so it just wasn't. We will try it again. They are open until 10:00PM which is nice when everything else closes at 6:30-7:00PM. I haven't been to a cheddars before and turns out I was not missing much. The croissants smothered in a sweet glaze were too rich for my taste to start a meal. No fruit available as sides for kids meal. Pecan chicken salad was served atop what appeared to be an iceberg lettuce mix from a bag without a sign of a freshly chopped veggie. Service was friendly, but slow and inaccurate with sides and drinks missing. Finally, I didn't like the tablet on the table (which they have the nerve to charge you for without saying). My kids have enough screen time at school without the need for additional screens while we are eating. D+ for me. Would not come back. read more

We dined here as a group of three and had a very mixed experience. Our waitress was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and never rushed us. She checked on us regularly and was easily the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the food was a major issue. I ordered the top sirloin and chicken tenders. The steak was greasy, gristly, and had an unpleasant flavor, so I sent it back. The waitress kindly offered to replace it with more tenders. While eating the tenders, I found a shrimp tail inside one--after I had already taken a bite and realized I had been chewing part of it. This was extremely upsetting and also a serious safety concern, especially with how common shellfish allergies are. I even mentioned to the manager that someone in my household has a shrimp allergy and we often share food. The manager did apologize, remove the meal from the bill, and offer a complimentary dessert, which I appreciated. However, the situation overshadowed the entire experience, and I couldn't bring myself to eat anything else. Great service, but the food quality and cross-contamination issue make this a place I'd be very cautious about returning to. read more

My sister and I popped in for lunch on Wednesday and we had the best service from Kelanni (sp). As soon as we sat down until we were finished she was AMAZING!! Beautiful smile, extremely attentive and very pleasant; I cannot say enough about her!! Our salads were huge and delicious! Chicken was so tender, the pot pie was huge and just packed with white chicken and veggies. We loved the ambiance with low lighting in the dining room, and the bar looked very nice, although we didn't go in. The first item brought to the table was two croissants with a butter glaze... they were soft on the inside, layered buttery flaky... yum We ordered three appetizers and an entree... Buffalo shrimp with the sauce on the side came with 6 good sized shrimp, fried to crispy perfection. Spinach cheese dip with salsa and tortilla chips... the dip was great, the chips were a bit over fried and many were broken up... The Wisconsin cheese bites were small nuggets of fried cheese, delicious crunchy nuggets of deliciousness... We also ordered the country fried chicken with the gravy on the side. It was well seasoned and very crispy served on a piece of toast with two sides... we got steamed broccoli which had a nice seasoning but was a bit over cooked, the loaded baked potato had butter, cheese and sour cream. It was baked well and tested fresh. We recommend you go to this restaurant and ask for Caleb... but make sure you leave him a great tip!! read more

I should've read the reviews before going but I have been to other Cheddars and they have been good but this location needs HELP! From the rude, maybe even racist waitress we had. She was dry and rude with us from the start. We were friendly and didn't complain about the gross food. However, She was friendly and cheerful with the other tables. Maybe because I am hispanic? IDK but the treatment difference was clear. SHe didn't know the bourborns they had even though she was the bartender. The food wasn't ANY better. Out cheese curds were super oily and came with pieces of Chicken Fingers Batter. Just really gross. We ordered Tenders Platter and it was 1 HUGE tender. All stuck together into one ball. When you separated the chicken the batter in the inside was mushy. Just bad. read more

Have been to this location a few times and the food is consistently good. Brought my in-laws for lunch since we were shopping near by. My mother in law ordered a fried shrimp platter and my father in law had the classic burger. They really loved their meal and want to come back and try the ribs before they head back to Jersey. They also loved the complimentary sticky croissants. My Smokehouse Burger was cooked to perfection, I asked for medium and medium I got. Don't think they have Cheddar's up North, I've never seen one. One of my favorite restaurants in Florida. Great comfort food. It's like an Applebees meets Cracker Barrel. It's a nice and clean restaurant. The service is always great and the food comes out amazing! The croissants are delicious! So far we have tried the cheese bites, the kids grilled cheese, chicken fingers, steak and pork chops. EVERYTHING is delicious! The drinks are also great and decently priced! $100 for appetizers, meals and drinks for 4 people is a great price!! Another plus is that they brought out a car seat sling for my baby so he could sit at the end of the table comfortably! read more

A very nice new gem to add to Port Charlotte! Even with how busy they were, the server was attentive, food quick, and SOOOOOO GOOD! We had a mixture of apps, cocktails, shrimp, chicken, sandwiches, sides, and dessert! I wish I took photos to show you how great everything looked! I do however have a list of everything we tried! 1st time here. Bar is great. Service was spot on. Carol was wonderful and attentive to me as well as others at the bar. She even has the booths and making friends everywhere. I love that! My wife and I decided to try Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen at 18600 Veterans Blvd, Port Charlotte. It was our first time ever visiting a Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen and we were excited to try it out. The first thing we noticed as we walked into the place was a giant aquarium on the right side filled with fish. At first I thought it was a saltwater tank, but later I found out that it actually was a 400 gallon fresh water tank with many colorful freshwater fish, mainly from Africa. It really was a beautifully maintained tank and simply stunning in placement and sheer size. The whole place is larger than I would have imagined and it is kept very clean and presentable. We were led to our table by a friendly hostess and shortly greeted by our server who introduced herself as Tammy. Very professional and friendly. We were impressed. We ordered a couple of sodas and as we waited, we looked over their menu items. The menu was very easy to understand and was straightforward. We have been at other places that simply were confusing because of 'order this with that or substitute this with that'. These feel to us needlessly complicated. We liked the menu. I ended up ordering the Bacon Cheeseburger and substituted an order of coleslaw instead of the fries. My wife ordered a simple cheeseburger with fries. The food was delivered after about a 15 to 20 minute wait. Which we felt was understandable. This is not a fast food joint. The meal was delicious and perfectly cooked. We enjoyed it immensely. For dessert we ordered a slice of Carrot Cake and split that since it was huge. My wife remarked that this was the best Carrot Cake she had ever tasted. I'd have to agree! Our entire meal came to $39.00 without tip. Very reasonable! We chatted with the hostess and host up front before leaving. They asked us how our meal was and suggested next time to try the ribs. All in all this was a very pleasant place to eat at a reasonable price. We feel confident in endorsing this as a place where you should try if you are ever in the area. My husband and I just had a fantastic dinner at this Cheddar's location. He had the grilled pork chops and he stated that they were outstanding. I had the ribeye at it was the absolute best steak I have ever eaten. I order my steaks medium rare and it almost always comes out medium to medium well. This one was a perfect bright pink with the most amazing char on the outside for flavor. I now have a new favorite place for steaks. Thursday afternoon, 4PM, August 2025. Service was slow to non-existent. It took at least 10 minutes for waitress to visit our table after being seated by the hostess. Then, we had to leave our booth to find another waitress in a different dining room to get a message to our designated waitress (as she was no where to be found) for food quality issues. Complimentary croissants were served lukewarm and not fresh about 20 minutes after being seated. Dinner food quality was blah to poor (french fries were the worst - served cool to lukewarm and old oil taste). This was our 2nd visit to this Port Charlotte Cheddars during the past 4 months with the same poor results. We will not return for a 3rd time. We will spend our $40 to $50 (for 2) somewhere else with better service and MUCH better food quality. Disappointing and overall poor. read more
