This dennys is TERRIBLE! i waited an hour to be seated with 4 other people. We never got seated needless to say and every party that came in after us was seated promptly. After checking in to see if we would eventually be seated (several times) within that hour we were told they must have looked over us and we could be seated in 20 minutes...we went and got groceries and just made our own dennys. That was ridiculous and as a result i highly doubt ill be back here. read more

I haven't been to Denny's in quite a while until I moved right around the corner from this location. I am super pleased with the food and the service. The service is fast and the waitress we had was super friendly. She mad sure that all of our needs were met. I ordered the all you can eat pancakes for $4 and some change and an orange juice. The pancakes were thick and fluffy and tasted delicious. Unfortunately I could only eat through one order because they were so big but still $4 is a great deal for just one order. It's a real treat when a spur of the moment casual family dinner for a pair of 90-plus elders, two college-age voracious eaters, and three hard-working parents leaves each of us with a very pleasant dining experience. A very sweet, attentive waitress, who was well-versed in some new menu items, led 5 of us to try the bourbon chicken and vegetable skillet, which was excellent. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the array of fresh vegetables provided a delicious healthy option. The burger was nicely prepared on a very fresh soft seeded roll and served with a nice side serving of ranch fries . An over-flowing plate of breakfast foods was quite pleasing for another 20-something year old who couldn't finish all that was put in front of him. The sirloin steak (who knew Denny's offered steak in its menu?), was equally perfectly-prepared and accented with a bowl of creamy cheesy mac 'n cheese! Another Grand Slam day. Today I tried the Super Slam two pancakes, two eggs, two sausage links, two rashers of bacon with hash browns. Typical Dennys fare nothing great but nothing was terrible. There was an option to upgrade the pancakes to pumpkin spice. It was an option I didn't try, the "run of the mill" pancakes were very good. Service was fine as it usually is but this is the location I go to for the last thirty years. However not that frequently and hardly ever for any meal besides breakfast. If you've been to one Denny's, you've been to em all. Our waitress, though very pregnant, was very nice. This location had slightly dirty floors, but not terrible. Food took a little longer than expected. Still, took advantage of those delicious Oreo milkshakes. My girlfriend really loved her cinnamon bun pancakes. Definitely a solid spot for a cheap breakfast that is relatively quick. No big red flags at the location, so I'll be back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

PAT is making this a horrible horrendous breakfast visit. She is extremely rude and unwilling to do her job correctly and accommodate us. She came to the table with three filthy glasses of ice water. She never introduced herself we had to ask her for her name in passing. When I asked for three new glasses of water because these glasses are really dirty, I was told. given an evil stare and a sigh then told she can give me plastic Cups. I said no that isn't necessary I'd just appreciate it if you can Make sure they're clean please. She rolled her eyes and said with a nasty attitude that the glasses are all banged up because of use that's just how they look. I said no theses are actually dirty. She looked at me rolled her eyes and walked away. She came back several minutes later with three new waters. No the glasses weren't clean! They just weren't as dirty. A simple wiping out the glasses would have safficed. Once she brought our food out mine was cold. Hilarious. I had a strawberry creme crepe. I didn't like it. I asked to Change my meal to banana creme pancakes she said I couldnt do that. Then proclaimed that she couldn't do it because it's already rang in. I said I'm just changing the entire meal form one to the other. She started walking off and said she'd get her manager and he can do it. He came about ten minutes later. It appeared to us that she said something to make him be less than pleasant. Group of 3 traveling through Buffalo. Stopped for lunch after 1 p.m. Restaurant wasn't very busy so there was no wait for a table. Waitress had no issue with splitting our checks and it was easy to pay, even with AARP and military discounts added after (for different checks). Ordered the Holiday Turkey Melt (seasonal item) and a slice of pecan pie. Waitress got drink refills and brought food without a long wait. Everything was delicious and the restaurant was clean. Denny's gets a star each for the following reasons: 1) The Service - for a chain with mostly awful food and subpar ambiance they usually have excellent service. Fun, laid back servers who are attentive, friendly and really try hard to make you happy. The wait staff prepare or put the final touches on a lot of stuff and will usually hook you up if you are nice. 2) The Nostalgia - maybe it is just me, but this was THE place when I was in college for late night binging. 3 in the morning and between us we crave a burger, ice cream sundae, breakfast food and chicken fingers? Who is ever is still sober, and lucky enough to have a car (read: not me), is driving us to Denny's! Cheap, fast, close. Every time I'm in here I see big tables of college kids (even artsy fartsy I-don't-like-anything-corporate types, which I can occasionally be, tehe) pigging out whilst laughing it up and it takes me back. That aside, their food is CRAP. The best items on the menu are just okay, but a lot of it is worse than pre-packaged meals you can make at home. Their eggs are usually NOT eggs, their soup is vile and always clearly on the warmer for too long, everything comes out of a bag, box, can, etc...I've even had bad chicken fingers here, which are very hard to screw up. On the plus side if you are craving something cheap and terrible for you their huge brownie sundae is like $2 and for pre-packaged brownie it will due at 3am. Their moons over my hammie (no joke, it's called that) sandwich is decent and incredibly bad for you, but only if you get a cook who manages to get it right where it's not just soggy bread filled with a sopping mess of grease. If you must go to a chain Tully's does it 100x better for not much more cash, they make a lot of things in house and they are open fairly late (11ish or midnight methinks). Or try a non-chain 24 hour place - The Royal, Olympic, etc. that have more food consistency and better taken care of facilities. read more

my son and I went to Denny's on Genesee St Cheektowaga. Arrived at 4:50. Placed our drink order with a waiter that whispered. Then placed our food order. Me a senior dinner my son just wanted a dessert . After a half hour no food I said I wonder what's taking so long. Manager said he forgot to place our order. He then took it and placed it. Had to come here because only place that worked - long story - people with allergies, 3:00pm and the good places btwn lunch and dinner. Ordered something hard to f@"k up - fish n chips. Quite simply, just awful. Fries - how could these be so bad? Frozen fries, pop in fryer . But even though I got a fresh batch they were mealy, reconstituted & totally artificial. The veg soft & soggy. Had to send "lemonade" and "ice tea" back. Fish relatively tasteless so at least inoffensive - until after "meal" more or less over and the tummy stated hurting. Our bodies want real food, not some chemically produced fried amalgamation. Kids who work here really sweet, but food nasty. Bathroom not too clean either. Don't compromise and think it's ok to eat here cause it's diner food -- this place sucks. A diner would have been far superior. read more

I used to LOVE Denny's. As a vegetarian they've always had many options for me. This Buffalo Dennys has gone downhill in the past few years. My husband and I went in for a late lunch today around 230. There were 2 employees at the cash register carrying on a personal conversation while taking a customers payment. After the customer left were still standing there waiting to even be acknowledged while these two were going on and on. My husband and kept looking at each other dumbfounded like is this really happening. After several minutes the guy got around to seating us and the girl ended up waiting on us I ordered a veggie burger and pancake bites for an appetizer. They were amazing, However, while we were eating them us snd everyone else in the dining room could hear some emplyee in the kitchen, not out server, giving a blow by blow of her giving birth. I think she said her water broke and it was like "Niagara Falls". Not something you want to picture while eating . Then our food came, a real meat hamburger. I put it at the edge of table assuming she would see it and check on us so i could get it fixed. She kept walking right by us. After my husband finished eating she came by and i said i dont eat meat, i wanted a veggie burger but its ok, can we just get the check. She stood there staring at the food and then me like she didn't understand what i was saying. Instead of just saying. Im sorry can i get you something else she told me thats not what i ordered. I went to the bathroom, i could hear her at the register complaining about us, and apparently them went and argued about what i ordered or didn't order with him. Someone needs to teach these employees that this is not their, I seriously felt like I was invading someone personal area and inconveniencing them. For this location I can say the food is hit or miss and the only reason being is sometimes it could be cold and you can tell it's been sitting in the window for a minute. In a drinking town known for it's fried delicacies and a love for sports, this is sheer brilliance. Let me preface my review with this: if you're looking for five star cuisine in a classy establishment to celebrate your anniversary in...keep looking. However, if you're looking for a place to satisfy any edible craving you could possibly fathom that'll be easy on the wallet...look no further. Denny's will always hold a place in my heart for that purpose alone. Awesome breakfast...aways. They usually have unusual promo pancakes that rock. I've had Hawaiian, strawberry cheesecake and blueberry muffin inspired pancakes that were all pretty damn good. Eggs done however you please. My favourite is their veggie cheese omelet, loaded with sauteed peppers and onions, mushrooms, spinach and cheddar cheese. Sourdough toast with extra butter and hashbrowns on the well done side, please. Also, could you throw some jalapeños in their instead of tomato? Thanks. They always come out looking picturesque, not sure how. Kudos to their line cooks. Their strawberry cheesecake milkshakes are fantastic, made with real chunks of cheesecake. They also recently started to offer different kinds of coffee, including hazelnut and vanilla. And the cups are bottomless? Sweet. Never a bad meal. Would I order a seafood entrée? Probably not. I was definitely sleeping on Denny's. This is a place where you find one thing you like and you order it every time you go. Don't change anything, don't pass go, don't collect $200. I personally order the cinnamon roll pancakes, cracked on the grill eggs (real eggs) with American cheese, hash browns extra crispy, bacon extra crispy. Comes out perfect every time. We should have walked out when we're being sat in a section that smelled like urine. But we just asked to be moved to a different section. Looking around, the place was a mess. The floor hasn't been swept all day. It was about 4:45pm when we went in. When we finally got a server, we were taken aback because they had headphones in. Who waits tables with actual headphones. With the cord and all. Anyway, we ordered our drinks apps and food all at once. Took a while to get our drinks. When our server brought them over there was a big fat black hair stuck to the side of the kids cup. I don't know if this was the servers first day, or what was going on, but they were not at all good at customer service. Appetizers came out separately without side plates. Food came out immediately following out 2nd appetizer. Our food came out in pieces and no one ate together. Made a whole meal completely wrong. Couldn't even eat my skillet with the amount of oil on it. Server comped my skillet. Dropped the check when we were t even halfway done with our food. No 2 minute/ 2 bite check back. No refills offered. No Togo boxes. No offer to speak to a manager. Just no personality at all, whatsoever. Looked around for a manager for a while hoping to catch someone to speak to. I admit it, I enjoy going to Denny's even though most people I know scoff when I suggest it. I'm a pancake fan and theirs are usually quite a lot better than most of the ones the diners offer in this area. This time a friend and I went for burgers and it was an off night. We waited longer than expected for our food and the fries were barely warm. There were also plenty of families with loud babies and toddlers that stressed the experience. I will still go to Denny's in the future but I doubt the same guest will be willing. read more

We come to this location literally almost every other week if not every week as college students. Today my friend bit into his burger only to find a hair coming out of it. While the employees were extremely understanding and apologetic about it, the manager was neither apologetic nor empathetic. He literally made it seem like we were making it up as if we can't afford to pay for the food. His attitude towards the employees seemed extremely disrespectful as well. Big changes to the "value" menu. Some items went from $2.00 to $3.99. Instead of $2/$4/$6/$8....items now START at $2 etc. Prices on the value menu are small and easy to skip, Did not notice the price changes until I received my check. If I were to rate this in comparison to other Denny's it would have a higher score. But alas, this place has to compete with the other late night eats and breakfast joints that are all over Hertel and Delaware. In that regard this is a fine place to go as a last resort because it's absolutely true to being a Denny's. The usual menu fare and it's clean. I've never had a problem with the service, and I've gone early morning and at night. The service was terrible. It took about twenty minutes for the waitress to ask what we wanted to drink, and took our orders at the same time. We got our entree before our appetizer, they completely forgot our appetizer. Fortunately, they gave it to us for free. They screwed up a drink and 2 out of 3 entrees. The drink and one entree came back screwed up a second time, but we didn't bother correcting it (onions on a burger that we just picked off) because we had already been waiting about 25 minutes for them to "fix" it. My friend had to ask the waitress twice for coffee cream. The waitress came up to us crying that she had a family emergency and had to go and she wouldn't get her tip if we didn't give it to her right then. I felt bad for her, but that doesn't seem professional at all and made us pretty uncomfortable. Aside from the service, the food was okay, it's Denny's.
