Our power was out at Roaming Shores overnight and options for coffee and breakfast around here at limited to say the least. We ended up at the Denny's off I90 in Austinburg. Our server Leann and the cook were the only ones working. Leann had several tables but she was prompt and friendly and checked on us throughout the meal. She kept our coffees topped off. I had one of my high school favs, Moons Over My Hammy and it was as good as I remembered - almost like having that occasional Big Mac every 5 years. Went 2/22/23 1130pm. Waitress and cook were ready to take some orders and were cool people. Tipped the waitress 45% bc i kno how it is to be a waiter. Im far from rich but us little people we gotta take care of each other and the lady had the good vibes. She was happy and so was i. Its my destiny to see good people prosper. Denny Ocean was a great guy. Unfortunately his restaurant is not. There aren't many things that I like less than Denny's. Having my teeth pulled out and my hair pulled out are among them. Arguably. I used to like the tropical fizzy drinks and the two moons over my hammy but those days are past and I'm embarrassed to say that ever even occurred in my life. Lousy food, lousier service. Waited an hour for food to come out, when it did it was inedible. Unbussed tables everywhere, not many customers but the food took forever and when it came out it was cold. The chicken was overcooked or cooked in old oil, a deep brown just this side of burnt. Oversalted. Country gravy, which should be WHITE, came out an odd orange color. Cold fries, colder broccoli. Ditto the sandwich I ordered--cheese no longer melted it'd sat so long. When it was delivered the waitress mentioned she'd been on the phone with her boss. Like that should be an excuse for delivering substandard food. I'm paying a lot of money for a service and expect hot, fresh food because that's your BUSINESS. We have kids making $15 an hour or more in places for flipping burgers. That food, no matter where it comes from, should be PERFECT. EVERY. TIME. A nearby customer told me she'd had a similar experience with the same chicken dish last week, and remarked that the oil doesn't get changed and that this location "has a lot of problems." Well, those problems are NOT the CUSTOMER'S problem. Do your jobs better, and train you staff not to be so dismissive and rude when they run out of excuses for the lousy food coming out of the kitchen. And don't ask the customer to believe them when they're the ones with all the evidence right in front of them that someone/s not doing their job right. Trish was our server when we came for dinner she showed us and explained the new menus and suggested several things that she felt were good for dinner. My husband had the new French toast slam with the brioche bread and I had the turkey and dressing dinner both of which were very good the service we received was amazing and they went above and beyond to make sure that we had an amazing dining experience. Garbage! Pure garbage! My son and I ordered burgers for lunch and both came out dripping with so much grease and leftover grill scraps that I could only take a few bites before I was nauseated. My wife ordered a small steak well done and received a medium rare steak. My son's girlfriend got chicken bites and they were dried out and chewy. They were also out of iced tea??? How hard is it to brew a batch? Our waitress was on the clock, but could not found when needed. This was by far the worst Denny's I've ever been to and I'm pretty sure I won't be visiting Denny's ever again. This Denny's is located adjacent to a Flying J Truck Stop - in the middle of nowhere northern Ohio.... I Stopped in late for take out after a long day of driving. I wanted a salad but their delivery of salad lettuce had not come in so I ordered a bacon cheese burger on lettuce instead of a bun -- I guess their burger lettuce is different from their salad lettuce. I ordered the broccoli as a side. The Burger was Delicious! The Broccoli was Delicious! Seriously!! I was really happy they were out of salad lettuce! The burger was a perfect cook - the cheese melted - the bacon crisp - the tomato was ripe and tasty- the pickles and onion just the right amount!! I actually did not eat the lettuce :/ The broccoli was great! It was steamed al dente and lightly seasoned. I would show you a pic, but it's all Gone! It was quickly prepared and while I waited I was entertained by a variety of characters that frequent truck stops late at night. There was a man who was not happy and cussed a lot... a lady who lost her keys (I hope she found them!) ... a couple of women I believe could have been sex workers as they seemed a bit underdressed .... (I hope one day they will be able to obtain good health insurance!) and of course the Denny's staff who were all very kind, friendly, and helpful! Denny's has truly shamed itself and their President of the company. You claim that you are part of the community and help with various programs and one in particular: childhood hunger campaigns. I mean if you are trying to help the community by feeding those in need, then what is the difference of an infant child getting breastfed by their mother? The child is hungry and should be fed anywhere the mother pleases. Question to the manager of this particular establishment that kicked out a mother feeding her daughter - shame on you! This child and mother have done nothing to you or your staff and does not deserve to be treated this way. It is completely unacceptable and despicable and most importantly against the law. We hope that your company will produce proper training for their future employees and I do not plan to take my family to your establishment in any town/city. Going to Dennys for a quick decent meal may have been the worst decision I have made in a while. On a slow night, it took over 30 minutes to get our food. After our food finally got out, my mashed potatoes where cold, the broccoli, with what appeared to be cheese on it, was also cold and had the taste of freezer burn. The steak was pretty overcooked and was definately not 8 ounces, as advertised. Food, I guess? Preamble: I don't hate Denny's in general. I've had some great meals at various Denny's locations from time to time. That said.... I'd give this Denny's a half star if I could. It's a large, expansive space for a restaurant that adjoins a truck stop center. That's where the pros really end. Our waitress was affable enough but couldn't have cared less if we were there to enjoy the food they serve. And I use the word food lightly. First mistake was ordering anything other than breakfast food. But it was dinner time and my husband and I wanted a hot dinner on a cold night of travel. I ordered hot chocolate--it came out neither hot nor chocolate, with whipped cream on top. I told the waitress it was lukewarm and perhaps I could have it warmed up with some coffee. She obliged me without caring; unfortunately, the coffee did little to help this disaster of a beverage. The mashed potatoes were congealed in grease, my "nachos" looked like something my dog would barf up, and nothing we were served was hot. It was almost as if the griddles were as apathetic as the waitstaff. Upon paying the tab, my husband told the cashier, who asked how everything was, that at least two items were completely inedible. She got her manager, who instead of replying to the issue, or stating what was being remedied, merely recited a different total than the original. Her soul has clearly been sucked out by working here. She comped us $3 and blankly waited to be paid. In sum: avoid this place if possible. I just sat down and started looking through the menu. I was on the last page and server told me "we are out of salmon, t-bone and sirloin". That was pretty much what was on the last page. 1 1/2 hour of my life I can't get back. Horrible service and horrible management. Two of us did not get 1/2 of our meal. I asked for it to be removed and the manager gave us a $4 discount. One would think that minimum we would get is our food deducted off that we didn't get. I am insulted that we got $4 discount. The manager didn't even have the courage to speak with us! They are at 50% capacity and can't handle it. I received cold eggs and half my meal. Highly recommend no one going to this location. I waited 1 hour to get my refill on a drink.
