This was my first ever Waffle House visit . I was shocked at how small it was- this location only sat about 40 people max. And, the temperature was really cold inside . However, the staff was super friendly and accommodating with my friend's daughters nut allergy . Also, the entire bill only came to $60 for 5 people and that was after the tip. After seeing the reviews I was skeptical...but I was genuinely surprised with the wonderful experience. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. My waitress was the sweetest, she kept conversing and checking up on me but not to the point where I felt overwhelmed. The food was even better, the waffles were fluffy and the hash browns were crisp but not burnt. Well we came in and we sit at the low bar. I just like a chair. Our waitress is very grumpy and detached this morning. Makes for a very "DULL" visit. She said she is in her own world.. ok so snap out of it. Not much eye contact today I guess. Kalea is her name So we ordered our standards Cheesy eggs, raisin toast with grits, bacon & 2 poke chop breaky for the boy. It has been quite a while since we have been to one. Ok okay... she slowly came around and started talking to us haha. We put a quarter in her! She talked to us the while time we ate. Waffle House is a chain that you can find all over - the south. The old joke in my family is that you know you've made it down south when you encounter your first Waffle House. Until this one, the furthest north I've even ecountered a WH is in Indianapolis. No matter. It's here and I was hungry. Imagine my surprise to check in on Yelp and have it tell me it's my second login. Darn it, I remember now, a few years ago when it was the only thing on this interchange! Hours are limited during the Covid19 hoopla, and menus are nowhere to be found. (You have to ask.) Or better, scan the QR code and read it on your phone. (Try reading my picture of the QR code, it worked for me!) And guess what? It's a typical Waffle House. (If you're from Milwaukee, think "George Webb" as it's along those lines.) It's short order, it's predictable, and it's reliably average. Wait staff is usually a hoot, often when they're not trying to be. Read the name badges, my server was Dana Lou Who. (Cindy Lou's sister? I didn't ask.) If you sit at the counter, you can watch your meal being made. Meals are prepared with assembly line precision and misnakes seldom...er...mistakes sometimes happen but are quickly corrected. I saw two waffles overcooked to a level that in a steak would be called beyond well done. They were like Frisbees and got Frisbeed right into the trash. :) I ordered a pecan waffle (my usual) and it was just fine. If you look closely, you can even read the Waffle House logo in the center of the waffle. It's served with "Whipped Spread" which, to a guy from Wisconsin, is a sacrilege but it is what it is - mostly chemicals with "Milk" added as a disclaimer. Oh, well. It's mostly water, it spreads quickly and melts just as quickly. Syrup is served in a real pouring jar, not some pre-packaged, portion controlled, plastic bin like the place across the street. As DuPont used to say, "Better living through chemistry" with chemical names I can't pronounce, anyway. Good coffee, too. I've been known to stop at Waffle House along the way for a cup of Joe to go. Now I wonder how many times I have to check in here to become a regular - or the Duke. (Dream on.) read more

Services wasn't great. Food was horrible. It took 3 times to ask the waiter for coffee. To then get my coffee he slammed down and it spilled everywhere. Waiter was also rude and didn't care to ask us how the food was and wasn't willing to listen to the customer if there was a problem with the food. Are waiter also avoided us and other people in the restaurant. Food is over priced and the food Quality is horrible. I use to love Waffle House. Great service and great food. I don't know what happened. Maybe it's time for a change. I am sticking to other breakfast places from now on. Please don't waste your time there. Never again. Second visit and second time to walk out. Nobody greeted us when we walked in. Sat at a table with dirty dishes stacked at the end. The server picked them up and did not say one word to us. Not a "hello", "someone will be right with you", nothing. She did shout at her coworkers and say she couldn't take any more. A Waffle House is a Waffle House - I never really go in expecting immaculate service, but with that being said, my experiences at most have been pretty good. This morning, however, was a little different. My dad ordered his eggs medium well, and specifically said that he didn't want hard yolk - at other Waffle Houses, they've cooked them as he asked with no issue. When they came out, the yolk was hard. He got the waitress's attention and very politely asked for eggs that were cooked the way he had asked the first time (again, he clearly states he doesn't want them cooked hard). Waitress agreed. Fifteen minutes go by, and by this time I'm finished with my breakfast and my dad was more or less finished with his. The waitress brings out his new eggs, and they're...cooked exactly the way they were before. Still hard. We got no apology, no offer to take a couple dollars off the meal for getting his order wrong TWICE, just an excuse. My dad just wound up telling them he wasn't going to wait a third time, and finished eating. Now, we're ready to go when the cook brings out a third order of eggs and -this made me laugh to myself - asks my dad if he wants his fork back, which has a napkin stuck to it from where he put it on the plate. My dad tells her sorry, I told our server I didn't want any more eggs, we're already done. Cook just snatches the plate back without a word and holds the plate up over the garbage can where we can see it and lets the eggs slide off the plate into the trash. So dramatic. To cap off the experience, the waitress barely says two words to us, no apology or anything, as we're paying. My dad asks for her manager, and she says (with an attitude, naturally) "Our manager is _____, and she comes in at 7:30" and doesn't say another word. It might just be it was the end of the night shift and they were tired, I don't know. But today they had little respect for us and obviously didn't care about getting an order wrong. Maybe friendlier people work during the day. Probably won't be going back - there are plenty of local diners in the Ashtabula area where you can get great service and they'll cook your breakfast the way you want the first time. They get two stars for at least getting what I asked for correct, but that's about it. read more

When Waffle house first opened you couldn't get in the place. I expected something different with a name like Waffle House. I thought it would be like Ihop..waffles 50 different ways. Visited on a Wednesday morning about 9:30. There were 5 in our party. Too many for a booth and the counter chairs were mostly taken. Sat ourselves in a corner using 3 counter chairs and an unbussed booth. No usual greeting when we entered. Waitress not happy we sat at An unbussed table and made it known by not smiling, no greeting and not acknowledging me when I greeted her. Looking around I noticed they might be short of staff and the restaurant was dirty dirty. I don't expect white glove at a WH, but the numerous smashed flies on the surrounding windows was disconcerting. So to the food...it's Waffle House. My mom didn't get her grits though and my sons hash browns were incorrect. I had to flag down Princess (that's what our servers name tag said) and she wasn't happy about that. The grits came up and corrected hash browns. Both were curtly put down in front of us. No apologies, nothing. Also Princess didn't seem to know anything about WHs $5 specials. She said she was from another store and didn't offer to find out. We left a 15% tip tho she deserved less, but I know how difficult the job can be. Contacted WH on their website..haven't heard back yet. Avoid this store and try the one at exit 200 (Chardon) on I90 instead. That's our plan! read more
