The first thing I saw walking through the door was a framed TripAdvisor review that read, "The worst breakfast I've ever had." Right then I knew I was either about to have the worst breakfast of my life or one of the best stories. Thankfully, it was the latter. To the TripAdvisor reviewer, I only have one question. Did Gordon Ramsay personally cook breakfast for you every morning growing up? Because those are the only expectations that could possibly explain that review. This place is tiny, but that's exactly what makes it special. I felt like a regular before my coffee even had a chance to cool off. The owner, the servers, and even the folks in the kitchen made us feel like we'd been coming here for years. Sitting right next to our table was a plate of fake roaches and a pile of crooked silverware. Between that and all the hilarious signs and decorations covering the walls, I probably spent as much time looking around and laughing as I did eating. Every wall has something worth reading, and it's all part of the experience. The breakfast was fantastic, but honestly, that's not why I'll remember this place. A place that makes you laughh, treats you like family, and makes you feel like you belong before you've finished your first cup of coffee is much harder to find. Breakfast is simple, atmosphere is hard to achieve in today's society. The place has breakfast but delivers on culture and atmosphere. That's what makes it special. To the owners, thank you for proving that customer service isn't dead. You've created one of the most original restaurants I've ever visited. A fun and funky place for breakfast. It's small and you might share a table with other patrons but that's part of the ambience. Walls are plastered with funny sayings and the staff adds to the irreverent vibe by yelling out loud "if you're eating, hurry up and if you're done, get the hell out of here" when it's busy and people are waiting for a table. The food is as good as any greasy diner. Basic breakfast is filling and reasonably priced. Plastic silver ware and paper plates make it easy clean up for the staff. Just be sure you check your coffee cup for chips. I don't like drinking from a chipped cup or glass and it may actually be illegal to serve beverages in those. The waitress was nice and took mine back and brought me one without chips. Although I don't think the management cares to replace them. Coffee is serve yourself from a carafe on the table as is the water from a pitcher. read more

first i want to say i loved the attitude of this place , sarcasm is my first language. the owner was lovely, as well as the other staff. fast service , good food. my boyfriend personally loved the He-man breakfast said it was delicious, no scraps left. the biscuit and gravy tasted like they made it from a pack of gravy mix. i was tempted to give them my southern way of making homemade gravy! the eggs were flavorless, i had to pour syrup on top of them just to eat it. other than that, it was great! will definitely be returning on our next visit! read more

If you know what you are getting into ahead of time chances are you will like it a lot. If you are expecting "lobster omelets" (this is on the menu nearby) you won't be pleased here. Paper plates, plastic silverware, and a bit of breakfast theatre. Big thermal carafes of coffee in front of every seat. Fast very attentive service but they pretend like they aren't. (Breakfast theatre) Great quality food, nice location. I'm glad we left the campground and had someone else make breakfast. This is a Diamond! We had the Benny and the Basic with fresh hot coffee that is served on the table, so you never have to wait for a refill. The Benny is the best one that I have ever had, (and this is my go to for breakfast). The English muffins toasted perfectly, the ham had a nice grill the eggs were absolutely perfectly cooked. Nice and runny, the way most can't seam to get right. The Hollandaise sauce was to Die for!! Creamy smooth and perfectly covering everything. And don't forget the Home fries! Crispy on the outside creamy and soft on the inside. They are fresh out of the frier and smoking Hot. Not held under a heat lamp, like most places. Be careful. I Burt my mouth when I dove in for my first bite. But it was worth it. Bring your Spence of humor and witty replies. I absolutely hate giving a bad review but this was by far the worst dining experience I've had. They did not follow any of the state mandates at the beginning of the pandemic and made fun of our party for doing so. They were not clean at all and it did not feel safe dining outdoors there. When we decided we were uncomfortable there, they yelled at us and taunted us all the way out. I've never seen a business treat customers so poorly and irresponsibly. Everything about this place is witty and I love it! From the signs outside, the signs inside, to the menus, and the workers. It's a cozy little space where you're basically sitting on top of someone else. There's nothing wrong with that when the food and service is good, which is true in this case. I ordered the Benny, which is Eggs Benedict, and it was exactly what I expected. They prepared it perfectly with a small side of home fries. Sunrise Cafe is a local joint on the strip in Geneva, OH. (All places on the strip are local joints). It is open during the late spring/summer months from 7am-3pm serving breakfast all day. Note: Does not accept credit cards! The service at Sunrise is fun. They have that "let's be rude and yet still have great service" kind of feel. It's an "Eat and Get Out!" kind of place. They make the food right in the dining area behind the counter. The servers yell across the room if you want anything, if you want a special order, you'll hear about it. Also, if you order lunch before 11am you'll hear about it. There is no restroom so don't ask. Now the food: All the meals come with their famous home fries (which are seasoned and delicious). I ordered a special: corn cakes, eggs, and bacon. My wife ordered a ham and cheese omelet. The corn cake has delicious sweet corn in the batter, it was thin and crispy, and awesome with butter and syrup. Eggs were pretty normal and bacon was crispy. The omelet was 3 eggs, with chunked ham and cheese. My wife said, "It's good". Water is free, serve yourself from a pitcher in the back corner. Pop is canned. Prices are a little steep, which one can expect from a seasonal, local joint I guess. Our meal was about $20, but it was different and delicious. Definitely a hole in the wall place but one you want to eat at! All made to order breakfast, decent portion sizes for the price, you won't leave hungry. Staff is funny and friendly. Beware of the "attack" pigeon Sam who will come to visit if you're sitting outside. Sam is friendly enough that she will let you pet her if you choose to participate. It is very small and intimate, with the two cooks clearly visible as they prepare your food while singing along to their soft playing radio and cracking jokes to each other. The decor is very unique with lots of humorous tact's thrown in. Something I really like about the character of the place is that they don't seem to take any shit. They make a bit of a joke out of it by joking a bit at their owns elves, as well as at the guests expense. The one lady has some real singers but delivers in a way that is good hearted and funny. We had initially tried for Mary's Kitchen, which was closed during the off-season. We only wanted to eat outdoors, but those tables were full with people waiting for food. The staff is so RUDE- this place is TERRIBLE. My friend and I were exploring early morning the area to stumble into this place to be treated like garbage by the staff. They blatantly humiliated us in front of the entire restaurant. I wanted an iced coffee, uncertain if they could accommodate. The guy told me he could make one, so he began. My friend was not buying anything and the woman demanded her to get out in a stern, rude tone. At that point in time I felt uncomfortable. I told the staff I no longer wanted the item. They continued to humiliate us with rudeness in front of the entire restaurant, upon our exit and in front of the establishment. I've never felt so uncomfortable and confused with humanity to be treated this way by the staff. I feel pitty for their souls they have it in them to be so ill mannered. I came here recently with my boyfriends family, and the resturant is hysterical. If you come on the weekend, the owners mother is working and she is the meanest of them all. If you guys don't know, their "thing" is that they're sarcastic and kind of rude, but it's all good fun. I walked in to the owners mother screaming at a guy "YOUR EGGS! HOW DO YOU WANT YOUR EGGS?!" The diner is unique and you can come here a dozen times and find some kind of new decoration. I came in this place not knowing what to expect. After asking for the basic breakfast with egg whites, I quickly found out that the servers here are sarcastic, funny and they make fun of you. I took it like a champ and looked for something else on the menu (I just don't like egg yolks ok!), until they told me they would in fact make my egg whites (sigh of relief). Everyone at my table- a party of 5, enjoyed their food but it was nothing super memorable and impressive.
