Listen, I get that Dennis has been around awhile. However, they will NOT sell you a bunch of chemicals you don't need that will put you in a tailspin of trying to balance your water. They also stand behind products. And they've helped me for years and years. From my above ground pool to my current aging in ground system, I will go to them any time. And I'll tell you, if they're closed and I use someone else for help in a pinch, I always come away disappointed, and go back to Manning. He's a pool guy through and through. Last year I had some staining from another store's chemical recommendation, and I called Dennis. I told him the instructions on the bottle and he said "do you want to follow instructions, or do you want to take my advice so that this works for you?" This place is awful, avoid at all costs!!!! The owner (Dennis Manning) is completely unhinged and rude. Screamed and swore and called the customer a liar after calling to explain an issue we had with pool opening. They are completely unprofessional and have no customer service skills. They are also not good at opening your pool, they left the water running for 48 hours straight and almost flooded entire yard, pool & house!! When we nicely informed him of this error, we were called liars, sworn at and he screamed and said YOU LOSE! then proceeded to swear up and down, and then hung up. I would avoid this place unless you want your pool/house flooded and then be yelled at by the owner. Terrible experience, get your pool opened by someone competent, who isn't a crabby old man. read more

I am an experienced pool owner, so when we moved into our new house with a built-in Gunite pool, I was skeptical of our real estate agent's recommendation of Dennis Manning Pools to open it and get it started. I've dealt with pool companies in the past and have not been impressed. But Dennis Manning exceeded my (low) expectations by a ton. This guy could give a college course in swimming pool technology and maintenance. In 35 years he's seen every kind of pool and every kind of problem, so he's a walking encyclopedia of pool engineering, parts, chemicals, construction, etc. I wish I'd known about him at our last house! If other professional services people knew as much about their businesses as Dennis knows about pools, life would be a lot less frustrating. read more

BUYER BEWARE! First let my begin by saying that my family and I have been loyal customers of Dennis Manning Pool Center for decades. I went to Dennis Manning Pools to purchase some chlorine tablets for my pool on 8/6/14. I purchased the 16# bucket for $85.95 plus tax, among other items. I returned to the pool store within 2 hours of my purchase, receipt in hand, to return the chlorine as I found the exact same tablet, only TWICE THE AMOUNT for $20 LESS at Dohenys with FREE next day shipping. I had not opened the bucket, nor had I even taken it out of my car because I had not yet returned home. I was told by staff at Dennis Manning that they could not take the chlorine back because "they just don't take chlorine tablets back." Nowhere posted in the store or anywhere on the receipt does it say chlorine tablets cannot be returned; in fact the receipt states "all claims and returned goods must be accompanied by this bill." As I previously stated....my family and I have been loyal customers of Dennis Manning Pool Center for decades. I am disgusted and disappointed by their lack of customer service. I hope the 16 pound bucket of chlorine tablets they refused to allow me to return was worth losing a customer for life, not to mention the negative online review of their business. The irony here is: located on the top of the bill for Dennis Manning Pool Center it says: YOUR HAPPINESS IS OUR REPUTATION. You're so so right about that! read more

We've been using them for many years to open, close and service our pool. When they open our pool, our pool and pool area are always spotless. Deck is power washed and pool water is already almost completely clear, if not perfectly clear. The guy who does maintenance is very good and knowledgeable. He has fixed many problems due to our aging pool system. read more

I had a terrible experience with Dennis manning pools. After booking my pool opening over a month and a half early, I was assured that my pool would be set and opened. I signed up for an opening, weekly cleaning, chemicals throughout summer... They came on the day of the scheduled opening but apparently "forgot" to come and check the pool beforehand (as promised) and then got here and said: "we can't do this today, we are too busy and this is too complicated. We can do it in 5 weeks".... I'm not he first person I know to have had an experience like this with this company. Totally, 100% unreliable!! read more

This is the second year that I have used Dennis Manning Pools, and I have nothing but great things to say.. Deck is always power washed and spotless. The service Technicians are always professional, and they seem to go above and beyond for my pool needs. Would recommend them to anybody.. Little pricey but you pay for what you get!!! read more

So fast forward 12 months after I posted a negative review of Dennis Manning Pool Center. Here is the story. I have a friend who is also friends with the owner of this pool store, as well as all of its employees. I contacted her as the breaker kept flipping every time I turned on the pump...it was Sunday....I was looking for an electrician originally when she advised of the info above and said she'd call the owner, explain my problem and call me back. Long story short...this man...the owner...who I do not know...answered her call...and another 3 on top of that...on a Sunday...and that speaks volumes about character to me... Whether he knew about my previous negative review I am uncertain but would like to think that he did and addressed my problem anyway....because he is a decent person, which was confirmed by his actions on a Sunday evening. I went in to the pool store today (Tuesday) and sought to buy a whole new pump (I could have gone anywhere...or purchased it online). I spoke with Moe and Joe..both very courteous and respectful. I knew that staff recognized me from our mishap last year and despite that...this is what unfolded. We talked about what happened the previous year...It was explained that chemicals cannot be returned due to the possibility that someone could replace chemicals, add look alike chemicals etc,, that can cause significant reactions, cause harm to your pool or worse yet, personal harm. I understand more about it than I did a year ago and although I wasn't happy about it a year ago....it does make good business sense and in reality...it is a protection for all the customers of the pool center. Messing with chemicals and then attempting to return them never crossed my mind as it is not something I would ever do. So, back to the pump..Joe could have very easily sold me the whole unit...not just the motor. Instead, he informed me that I didn't need a whole new unit...all I needed was a new motor. He instructed me to bring the old motor to the pool store so he could confirm the motor was the problem and then place the new motor in the old housing for me. He educated me about 220 power vs.110. I asked about what would happen if the problem was more than the motor...his response was that he would come out to my home free of charge and resolve the problem. I was sold. I came back an hour later to find my brand new motor waiting for me...and Joe even fixed the plug for me. Like I said in my post a year ago...my family has been customers of Dennis Manning Pool Center for over 40 years and after the actions of Mr. Manning Sunday and the staff of the pool center today...I look forward to another 40 years. read more
