I recently inherited a 40-year old Oracle turntable that needed some TLC to get it up and running again. I am so glad I found Deltronics because I wasn't sure if anyone was still around who knew enough to get something like this up and running again. Mike from Deltronics came through and got my turntable up and running after giving it a new belt and cartridge as well as doing the necessary calibration for me. It was about 3 weeks from the time I dropped it off to when it was ready, which was exactly the time they estimated. It seems like Mike is a one-man operation so I am sure he is a busy guy giving each and every item the necessary attention. I got my turntable home and put on some Miles Davis as my first selection. I have a Hammond A100 organ with two Leslie speakers. Mike was able to evaluate the Hammond power amp, and the two Leslie speakers. The organ amp had been previously modified. One of the Leslie speakers was a 122 (original to the Organ) and used B+ voltage to switch speed. The other Leslie was a 145 (and much smaller than the 122. I used a preamp/speed switch pedal to operate the 145, for Combo organ use. To make a long story shorter, Mike was able to alter the the pedal to control the 122 Leslie as well as the 145 Leslie which was retired to use B+ speed switch voltage. That allowed me to use both Leslie's with the A100 as well as with the use of the pedal a Hammond portable, i,e., Xk3c etc. Amazing knowledge here on 60 year old equipment, for maybe 200-300 bucks. Also had a couple of Fender Guitar Amps checked out a set to spec values and general maintenance. Well done and nice having a report on the maintenance when it comes to a sale. Next project will be the evaluation of a Pioneer 1250 Receiver circa mid 1970's. has not been turned on in 40 years. I expect that based on its design, monster Capacitors for energy storage that this may also be restored for a fair price. read more

I have a Pioneer SX 780 that has sentimental value (my Dad had one like it in the 70s). One day it just went dead. One of the guys at Blue Village Vinyl (GREAT record store, btw) suggested Deltronics. I brought in, and yes, it took 5 weeks but well worth the wait! They fixed the issues (more than one), cleaned the unit, and it sounds brand new! I can't even describe how improved the sound is. The price was reasonable for the amount of work done. I spilled some suds on my SZ2 controller. A few months later sparks would fly out of the tempo faders while in a dark bar scaring the poop out of me. it's pretty heavy. I did not want to mail to the manufacturer. I brought it into these guys. If you are in a hurry, this is the wrong place for you. This shop is busy for a reason, lots of repeat business. Deltronics repaired 2 vintage Yamaha Stereo Amps for me, one was smoked. It took approximately 4-6 weeks to get the units back, the smoked unit required some additional minor tweaking when I went through it at home. Mike told me to bring it back with my tweak list, without hesitation. The formerly smoked unit not only looks great, but works and sounds great, its resale value went from $100 smoked, to $700 repaired for a cost of $150, not that I will sell it while my hands are still warm. A comparable Class A AB receiver today would cost well over $2000 if you could find anything close in sound quality. Having worked in high-tech electronics for 20+ years, its not how you are treated when things work perfectly, but how you are treated when there is a customer service problem. Mike the owner stands behind his work, even if it takes a couple of trips to fully restore a loved 35 year old Yamaha Receiver. Its fixed when its fixed, calling every 10 minutes wont fix it any faster. The $50 estimate fee is standard at most places, this avoids a line of people stretching around the block wanting freebie analysis of garage sale items. I gladly paid $150 each for my units to be repaired which included the estimate fees. The replacement cost for the Yamaha Integrated amp A AB, is $1800 brand new, the broken unit would have fetched less than $100 on e-bay. I will continue to use this shop. read more

An ignorant bunch. Behind the counter and behind the work bench. Quote wasn't honored, and a supposed few week project took THREE months!!

I took a turntable here to have them look it over and set it up, nothing more than a few simple adjustments. The following week the clueless girl behind the counter called me to claim the stylus was "broken" (it wasn't) and would need to be replaced at significant expense. After I pointed out that this didn't seem right, someone else (Mike?) then called me the next day to say nevermind, it didn't really need that repair and was in fact in more or less good working order. I have no idea what this was about, but it was unsettling to say the least. I went to pick it up only to find they were charging me $100 for a very minor mechanical repair and "cleaning." It must have been on the work bench for all of ten minutes. Amazingly, the tonearm wasn't even properly adjusted. I have no idea how these guys get off charging this kind of price, but I certainly won't be coming here again. read more

Went in on the 22 of march to have my DDJ-SR2 looked at ... paid a $50 deposit. Next day they got me a quote . I approved the parts to be ordered from china. I called Deltronics to see if they were able to fix the voice coil on a vintage JBL 128H speaker. They said they could and price would be flexible depending on damage. I decided to make the 45 minute drive and drop off the speaker. I explained to the lady at the counter that the voice coil sticks and may need replacing. I checked back with them a couple weeks later, they said the speaker was sent out for new surrounds ?? I thought perhaps that the voice coil was not a problem after all. After another week passed, I called again to check on progress, they informed me the voice coil needed replacement and that they were unable to repair it :) WTF! LOL! Then they ask if i want to leave the speaker for recycle ! LOL WTF! This girl had no idea of how rare and impossible to find this speaker is ! So in short, I wasted 4 hours in driving time , 50 dollar service fee, and four weeks for zero return, which would be the amount of stars they deserve. What kind of stereo repair shop cant fix a voice coil ??? None that I care to deal with, they get one star, stay away from these assz clowns! read more

I reiterated what a Nutone radio was and someone in back yelled, "NO, we don't work on those". With that I just walked out and left. I've had friends bringing their music gear here for decades and singing the praises of deltronics but it wasn't until recently that I had the need for getting a piece of kit fixed by them. I usually just 'make do' with vintage gear and work around the problems but I am starting to see the error of my ways when they can get things back to 100% or better. Yes there is a wait. So my NAD c545bee was acting up again (I hope this is the last of the bugs it has) and I dropped it off at the Deltronics as they are the NAD authorized service center. Wasn't happy about it breaking again but that is electronics (to an extent) I suppose. My last review was about the same player and it having been taken to Deltronics and upon return it has some damage to the faceplate and the turnaround was quite slow. However to their credit Deltronics replaced the faceplate, and the turn around for that was much quicker. The turn around for this latest issue was also quick and I have no complaints. So far I have used deltronics four times, two for this cdp and two for an amp. I have to say that I think they are on the whole very good. read more

These guys will probably fix any amplifier you really want repaired. I wouldn't ask them to repair any old clock radios though. They got my 44 year old Sherwood amplifier/receiver working like new again. I had lost the left channel completely. I certainly didn't want to have to shop for a new amp/receiver and I didn't have to. And they did it for a reasonable price, too. Thanks for the great work! read more

Took my Sony wireless transmitter and receiver in for a repair. Did it on timely matter and saved me money and travel going to Chicago

Went in for a power issue with my mint Sony ES Receiver. Came back with a front panel screen issue. Returned with screen panel issue, and it came back with CD skipping issue. Returned for that issue. After many weeks. they forgot to order the part. Tired of their many excuses, I picked it up. This time it came back with radio tuner completely out. Each time the receiver came back with additional scratches and a chipped remote. And now I'm left with a receiver that skips and a non working radio tuner. Not to mention $200 less. The scratches on the outside are an indication of the carelessness of the labor performed on the inside of the unit. read more

I have a vintage quadrophonic receiver that was in dire need of some repairs. I brought this into Deltronics and these guys were good to their word on timing and cost. I got the unit back and could not be happier that it is working like new again. They just don't make units like this any more, and I so wanted to be able to hear its glorious sound again. Very un-positive experience. Had my 1200s serviced here. Asked specifically to get my pitch faders replaced and was told in my estimate that that was the price i was paying to have this done. when i picked them up i had to catch them in the act. They didnt tell meanything about not doin what i asked when i was paying. I asked where are the junk faders u should have replaced? To this they replyed that they did not do what i asked and merely cleaned and oiled the faders. This was not what i asked for or what was told i was paying for. The rca cables i had them replace are enormous and have trouble fitting by my mixer now. They replaced my pop up light with leds and have them mis directed so hardley any light is emitted as well as i am unsure if they even added a new resistor. They bent one of the pitch plates over the green light so it bulges now. They also did not calibrate them when they were finished which appears to be part of what i payed for. Finally they didn t even call me to tell me they were ready after i had expressed urgency. I would not recommend them for your turntables. would give 0 stars read more
